I’m going down another rabbit hole with Pokémon cards.
Bought some magnifying glasses, a card centring tool, empty grading slabs, and designed my own labels.
Now I’m not saying I’m gonna grade my cards but I do want to closely inspect some of cards. I’ve already had a look at some and even though they are fresh out packs they have some scratches! So that’s what the magnifier is for.
Centring tool is to check the alignment of the cards. The more even the sides the better obviously but even if you think it’s perfect it might be off.
Grading slabs are what cards come back in when you get a card graded. They are “slabs” of plastic which are sonically welded together. I can’t do that lol. I’m probably not gonna bother sticking them together as I’ll put the slab in a plastic sleeve.
Slabs have a space for a label. The cards name, details, score/condition. I’m just gonna print the name and details. I’ll put a little serial number on it to match it with my spreadsheet of all my cards.
What made me want to start this is I bought a card which isn’t graded and I want to protect it and “grade” it myself. I could just stick it in a plastic holder with a sleeve but this seems more fun.
