Today I learned that snk was still around and making Kof. I though they were bought by capcom years ago or something
I don't really get how CCP is around, their overheads must be really minimal because it looks like they've currently got two possible sources of revenue, EVE and DUST 514.
EVE is subscription-less to the majority of the main players due to PLEX, and for new players buying the game costs like nothing and I doubt the bulk of new players stick around for more than a month or two.
Then you've got DUST 514, who plays this? Much less spends money on it?
They recently had to shut down an office and lay off a bunch of people as well as cancel a whole project. Yet they host pretty big events for their players in Iceland.
But seriously where do they get the bulk of their money? EVE website related advertising? Because I doubt it's from game subs / new players.
They've got maintenance costs and salaries to pay, but I can't really imagine them pulling in that much.
Out of interest, what was wrong with the 1080p/60fps re-releases that are already on Xbox Live?

Since EVE launched the player count has never dropped
Last year they had $75M in game revenue. It seems like they'd be in good shape if they hadn't blown all of that money on the canceled vampire MMO.
Sega.
When was the last time they had a massive hit? or even just a big hit?
Valkyria Chronicles and Yakuza sell moderately good.
Out of their umbrella studios, Warhammer, Company of Heroes, and Total War are niche genre games. Their only massive seller are the Football Manager series. They now have Atlus, but they're not known for Massive hits.
They really on stay alive in Japan making licensed games through affiliate studios.
How is Sega still going?
For me it's Atari. They have done so little for so long that it still baffles me that they haven't completely gone under yet.
I've never played an id game before (probably before my time, I began gaming in 2000), but I can say I really don't like Rage. I've been at it for an hour or six now, but thus far it literally just has been "hey man, you need my help right? but before I offer you my help, you'll have to do something for me first". Not interesting at all, the boring world doesn't help either. The only praiseworthy is the (constant?) 60 FPS on PS3. Other than that... And since people tend to like it a lot for the first half, I probably won't even see the end credits since the second part is supposed to suck very bad.Might get some hate for this but

I mean the they had their hits in the 90's (Wolfenstein, Doom, and Quake) but what big game have they done lately?
Doom 3 was 10 years ago.. and people didn't really like it.
Rage was 3 years ago... But never played it. Was it any good/sell well?
One thing and one thing only: I don't own an Xbox, haha. I've been looking at some second-hand 360's for the last few days now, but I'm not sure if I want to spend +/- 100 Euro for just two XBLA games, even though I absolutely LOVED Banjo-Tooie on the N64 (unfortunately never played BK, so this would be the first time).
The other exclusives don't appeal that much to me. Maybe I'll wait till the XBone releases in Netherlands, maybe the second-hand pricing of 360 will take a fall.

Now that's a good one. Amazing.Silicon Knights.
Kemco and Sunsoft.
I'm not surprised Activision is still around. What I AM surprised by is that they've never changed their logo over that entire time. I mean, look at this...Activision.
Can't believe these guys are still around. They were pretty much the first third party company ever (after breaking off from Atari in 1979 to make their OWN 2600 games), & are not only still around, but have consistently had some of THE most popular games of the last few console generations (think Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, Skylanders...). So not only are they still around, they are thriving. I think it's amazing.
Who gives a shit about worms these days?
They need to start making new things instead of the same crap with a different name.
