I'm replaying mgs5 during these days and now i get why people think movements and feeling are similar to helldivers2, they have both the same shitty, unpredictable random climbing system where you are never sure if you can climb something or not (even when the button prompt appear you can still slide down like a turd) :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I've not noticed any changes since the update. Maybe it's because I'm so damn good with my loadout, but nothing is easier. Had 5 bile titans at one point, chasing my ass. Fortunately, the grenade launcher and incendiary shotgun took good care of them. 😅

Erm that's the change that people are noticing, the patrols are like... "OOPS ALL CHARGERS"

Traversal was sublime in Death Stranding. All games need that level of traversal tweaked to gameplay.

And bile spewers like a mofo out of the bug breaches. Noticed a ton on level 6, but not as much on level 7.

I think on 7+ they prioritise heavy type enemies where the bile spewers are medium. Hence the spam at lower difficulties.

Yeah, pushing the triggers all the fucking time to not fall down like a moron was super fun and engaging, especially when you understand that just keeping them pressed all the time was the solution (but not less annoying)

It was so fun that i could feel other people relief from distance when someone was making highways and transport lines in their server so they could just avoid to engage with the fun traversal and just drive in a straight line or hang up on a line and get to destination.

We were discussing about serious games like hd2 and mgs5, let's keep the pretentious crap out of this topic please :messenger_winking_tongue:

Yeah. I find chargers and bile titans more tolerable than 4 to 5 spewers at a clip. Payouts and resource quantity are much better on 7 as well.

Hence why I said tweaked to the games gameplay. How he traversed was better than any game ever. No super climbing the damned supply drop trying to get an ammo reload, but getting stuck on 6 inch terrain height.

Nah, i take actual fun, fast traversal like in infamous, attack on titan games, hell even forspoken or atlas fallen over that clunky shit, sorry not sorry.

When i unlocked the power leg and jump leg was when i started to have a bit of fun with the traversal because i was faster and not as clunky, but even that pale compared to actual fast, acrobatic traversal mechanics.

A broken climbing system in other games doesn't make ds traversal less boring or clunky to me.

Unfortunately i bought the game at launch so there wasn't almost any highway or zip line (they started to appear when i was almost at the end), i had to use my feet and run because the driving system of bikes\car was absolute dogshit so i t was just less maddening to just run and use ladders and shit.

But when you feel relief because a mechanic let you skip the core gameplay, you know your core gameplay is dudu.

I played the game offline. Part of the fun was to create the roads and make the zipline to go from point to point instantly. I think that with ziplines I never did travel more than once or two times on foot/bike to one client. Why so much hate for one of the best parts of the game?

Unfortunately i hate building stuff with a passion.

Also no hate, ziplines and stuff are no doubt what made the game bereable for many people, i was hating on the walking part really.

I can understand that. Just that for me the exploration was great. Finding the right placement to use the limited budget to place the ziplines to reduce movement to a strict minimum was fun. Then it is just going from zipline to zipline until destination. I admit that the mountain was tiring at times, but I still liked it.

Yeah the building stuff was probably fun for people who like that sort of thing.

I tried placing a zipline but i got bored halfway througt :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I don't like building stuff in general, and the last few routes had bullshit requirement so I did not finish the full road. But you can link all clients to the hubs by zipline. And basically not walk at all when it is done. I hope that the next game will extend on this but understand that some players will prefer to concentrate on other parts of the gameplay, like the human raiders.

I’ve been playing this game nearly every day for about a month now, I really love it. I think it will have very long legs.

My favorite aspects:
  • Guns feel fantastic. Maybe the best of any game.
  • Dropping into online PvE matches (with optional challenge) is just the exact right temperature for gaming at the end of a work day.
  • Live service allows the game to present new content regularly.
Some feedback:
  • It’s still too buggy. I can expect to see a crash or some other showstopper once a night at least.
  • There needs to be more variation. I’m talking real variety, like spaceship battles and minigames. Just adding new mission types where you are still effectively doing the same things with new flavor text will not cut it long-term. Having an active “dungeon master” driving the missions is a wonderful idea, but they could be a lot more creative and engaging with it.
  • Resources/rewards need more balancing. Req slips are basically useless. The good uses for samples run out quickly. Two things that could be done here are consumable rewards (like single-use stratagems that you buy with req slips) and longer-term grinds for rewards that most players won’t obtain (even if they’re just cosmetic or something).
I think the progression will get better over time, but I do worry about gameplay variation. IMO for this game to work as a live service they will need to introduce entirely new systems of gameplay, not just new missions and enemy types.

Man just hopped back on after taking a break for a couple months. Did they increase the movement speed? I’m using light armor and holy shit it feels fast.

Imagine this as a crossover event. You fight fucking Mechagodzilla!

If Call of Duty can do it Helldivers sure as shit can too!

I think the game would benefit a lot from adding different types of bosses/elites. There’s not enough variation. When the same Bile Titan spawns over and over again it loses the “oh shit” feeling.

Also desperately needing more to spend rewards on. Quick idea would be single-use strategems that you can buy before a match. No reward should feel worthless.

The game needs to be creative to break up the monotony of PvE. Live-service sets them up perfectly to accomplish it.

They’re not moving quite fast enough IMO. I hope they’re adding devs. It’s obvious from the frequent updates that they’re working hard, but there are too many things to work on at this stage and the team is probably too small.

New update. New ship modules. They seems to use even more samples than the last one(I think lol).

EDIT: Outside of the new ship modules, the update is just a small number of fixes.

Yeaaah community is not happy with the way the Bot major orders are being influenced by the GM on this one. It's an absolute shambles the way this one is going.

The Commando is alright. It's not as effective as the other anti tanks but the cooldown makes it ok(well not so much verses the eat, probably need to lower it further). I can see myself taking it more so on missions when I get bored of the other weapons and more to take out multiple factories. It's not on say the Spear level still, that weapon is S-Tier now. I think the autocannon and Rocket sentries with all the ship modules upgrades in are pretty much in that category too now at worse A-tier.

new weapons looks hot, pun intended. the firebomb hellpod booster might be interesting to use depending on how big the radius is. wonder if it'll also apply to support weapon drops and stuff thou. looking forward to hopping back on and getting burn alive again and again by other teammates for liberty and democracy.

Last night was fun. Friend A shot down a bot dropship, and said dropship proceeded to crash into and splat friend B like road kill. Dead instantly. We found it hilarious.

One can assume that the weapons will not be as powerful as the Flamethrower stratagem. I dig the names of the weapons tho lol. I'm wondering how Cookout is going to compete with the Breaker Incendiary and I like both armors from a visual standpoint. Im definitely going be using Draconaught a lot for a while. The Hellpod could be dumb fun but I don't expect it to be one of the top Hellpods naturally. The skins are ok, I like the colors more than the camo ones in the last warbond at least. And it's about time Thoracic Collision made it into the game lol.

Game has been out for a while, what's everyone's thoughts on the monitization of the game?
It’s alright, not as fair (or easy) to play for free as Fortnite, not many (or any) games are though.

That said I’ve not spent any additional money either, only got one additional pack through in-game currency.

This update doesn't seem to be going over well with a lot online. As I see it right now, the uptick will be really short and fall back down to where it was before the update.

I played a bit today and so far so good. unlocked Super Helldiver level but had not tried it yet since I heard it's bugged right now and would just crash people out of game. did try the jungle level, and it's definitely interesting. the issue I have with it is all the trees blocking the line of fire for rockets when I want to deal with Shrieker Nests and Spore Spewer. even a small branch in what looks like a clear path would eat the rocket instead, often forcing you to move in closer and trigger the Shriekers to spawn. the Impalers are not that bad to deal with in a team, as long as you don't ignore them and allow them to keep attack from some far off corner. the Spore Chargers are the same. as long as you see the spore fog hanging around, then be careful and have whatever support weapon you're using ready. I was able to sneak up on one and take it out before it started moving thou, so there's that too.

the new secondary objective of carrying the baby bug doesn't seem to be "working" all that well. I was able to pick one up and take it to the LZ to drop it off and I did not encounter any additional spawns along the way. and another game someone else had the baby for the whole run and I didn't notice any more bug spawns than usual. outside of these, I had fun in the few rounds I played today. might try out the bots next time and see how bad it would be with those rocket tanks and walkers.

Oof. I've had two disconnects on PS5 tonight. Right at the end of a mission both times. I'll jump back on tomorrow.

I’m seeing a few posts on YouTube and X popping up now, of players claiming this is slowly dying a death due to the developer updates. Any long time players willing to comment?

Came back to it and still have fun.

The community loses its mind at each change. It's crazy.
I have the feeling a lot of people rely on the most powerful weapon and play only that. And then when it's nerf, they don't adapt and just threatened the dev to revert the change.

been slacking off but still managed to do a mission or two here and there. got all my ship upgrades done and got everything I can buy already, but game is still fun as hell. thou today I did run into some dumb dumb. I was running double support weapons. railgun and commando. I dropped off the railgun and called a commando to deal with something. came back and some guy took it already. I'm like fine, I'll make do with commando for now once it's off cool down. now the same dumb dumb also killed me twice with eagle cluster bombs, so I'm already had it up to here with him. finally we're at the evac and I throw down another railgun and went off to deal with some heavy with a commando. came back and he took the railgun again. I'm also holding the super samples at the time, so I just let them board evac and stay to get myself killed so they can't pick it back up. yes I'm petty like that. :messenger_unamused:
