I figured with the DLC and its anniversary Starfield made more sense

I still think Starfield will be on PS5 eventually. But I think, at this point, they're waiting for the DLC to release and then they'll give it a few months before porting a complete edition over to PS5. Maybe to coincide with the announcement of the next DLC they've said they're planning.

They didn't even try to continue the charade it was exclusive

Should have waited for a month or two after release to let the cat out of the bag imo

All it did was fuel wars, thats all.

I have seen way more people just making fun of the "Xbots" then actually being happy they were getting an Indy game on the PS5 and likely will be Pro enhanced.

But those Xbox zealots on Twitter and Discord making themselves easy targets with how they are acting

Speaking of......timdog leading the parade....

Correction: MICROSOFT wants their games on PS5.
They have wanted Gamepass on PS for a long time and Ybarra had mentioned a few times the Xbox MP games would eventually be day one on PS but not single player titles.

Ybarra butted heads a few times with Phil and guess with Ybarra out of there Phil has enough yes people around him he can really fuck things up

People in Phils position NEED people around them to say no, this is a bad idea and here is why

Those guys just make it so easy to root against not only them but Xbox as a whole

And Phil embraces those fucktards

I mentioned previously that games needing to pay royalties are on the top of the list for multiplatforming.

Blade will be multiplatform as well.

It’s a bit pointless to buy IP’s and forge licensing deals only to then kill their value by releasing them only on XBOX.

On the topic of The Great Circle, it still looks dumb to be “immersive 1st person” (with terrible animation at that) and then contradict the argument with lengthy third-person cutscenes.

There’s a reason those are third person. I like adventure games and Indy but man… I don’t know if this will do well at all.

Funny that Phil popped some champagne over Jim Ryan being in charge of PlayStation when you see this mess.

I mean I get it …. Xbox players will play it early and without paying anything on game pass… PlayStation players will pay 70$ for it for MS to make more profit ….. I don’t see this as a bad news to be honest

Why are people so mad? These studios and publishers were third party to begin with. Xbox just doesn’t have a large enough install base for these games to be exclusive.

Because hardcore Xbox fans had themselves convinced that Microsoft was buying all of these studios to intentionally make all the content exclusive to Xbox at the expense of PlayStation. And Phil happily played along, saying things like not making Bethesda games exclusive while they were acquiring Zenimax, only to turn around and make Starfield exclusive and pay Disney for Indiana Jones exclusivity.

Now they're realizing it was all a con and they're pretty angry about it. First stage of grief and all.

The Game looks bland but as a Indi fan I welcome it to PS5..it's better than nothing also since it's a single player Game You can play it anytime and have the same experience, so Will wait for a discount.

Xbox Microsoft need to get back money ASAP and this is the only way...offering thier IPs on all platforms. Bet there Will be a Switch 2 versión in the future.

At first they really meant it:

"We (Microsoft) are in a very unique position to be able to go spend Sony out of business,” said Booty in a December 2019 email, referencing spending $2 billion or $3 billion in 2020 to avoid competitors getting ahead in content at a later date."

Fast forward 5 years later.... The plan didn't go so well...

Oh boy, they’re in shambles

“At least let us pretend that Indiana Jones is Xbox exclusive.”

Don't even feel sorry for them, not one bit.

Why? Because they have been making it abundantly clear that console is no longer their priority for ages now.

Some of their own games (and/or games they have marketing partnerships with) release first on PC.

Gamepass is cheaper on PC, just one tier and you get all the releases, no caveats.

And now they aren't even putting themselves in situations that could potentially maximise sales of their own console hardware.

It's like they are telling people - stop buying Xbox console hardware, we don't want you to. But yet, in some cases these goons have dozens of Xbox consoles in their households (why I don't know) and at this point they are just hanging on to a dead corpse of a console platform.

You aren't going to make any money when your hardware base is maxing out at like 50m units and none of your customers want to by games outright because you devalued your software with Game Pass.

50 million would usually be fine, but too many people who are buying the hardware aren't buying games, so the whole business model of selling the console at a loss (or at cost as the generation develops) and then making that back via software margins is a bust. And it's a situation they put themselves in, nobody else to blame.

They are now killing Xbox consoles so that gamepass can survive. Without taking losses on console sales and having to deal with vast amounts of R&D CapEx for future hardware their margins will vastly improve.

My favourite posts on here were the ones along the lines of: "They're not spending $70 billion to not make CoD exclusive!" Turns out they spent $70 billion and not only are they not making CoD exclusive but they are making their own games multiplatform too. How one year changes everything.

They will leverage the Microsoft PC store and cross buy to claim they are looking after you. They will also offer streaming via subscription for the games you own. Both routes are terrible to be honest, and if you’re still investing in the Xbox platform in 2024 I’d say you can’t complain when the rug is eventually pulled on hardware.
Streaming won't do. They better have a complete Xbox compatibility layer for PC that carries on all my games, otherwise they are going to open the gates of hell, and it's going to be ugly.

They are simply going to sell more copies, thus gaining more of their investment back. Its not like Indy is going to be a system seller.

Man, you've never been in the crosshairs when Microsoft have sunset something have you?

I've been there with GFWL. I've been there with Zune. I've been there with Windows Phone. I've been there with WMR.

They've accepted defeat. PS5 won the battle so why bother anymore.
Look I don't have any marching orders like some of the people online but Indy will sell tons more copies now and literally PS players helping fund future Xbox projects

Personally I am glad PS only players get to play it but honestly Indy looks mid at best and I hate that being an older guy who watched all the Indy movies

Still playing it day one on my PC though :)

But they are still making the next Xbox console which they've said is going to see the biggest generational leap ever. Does this mean it's going to be their Google Stadia with racks of servers providing the computational power for streaming only?

If it does turn out to be "mid" then the staggered release will do them no favours at all. If its a bust, by the time it comes to PS5 not enough people will buy it for them to even fund Phil's severance pay.

The whole "nobody else to blame" thing shows your card here. Where am I talking about shifting blame?

I'm here just saying that at this point, it's really the only card they have to play. They tried gimmicks (Kinect), they tried moneyhatting exclusives (Tomb Raider), they tried going the multimedia box route (Xbox One), they tried having the fastest console on the market (Xbox One X), they tried pushing for backwards compatibility and enhancing your old games (Enhanced BC/Auto HDR/Frame Boost/etc..), they tried reeling you into a bargain of a subscription service (Game Pass), they tried eliminating the barrier of entry into their ecosystem (cloud gaming), they tried acquiring studios to bring a ton of big games to their ecosystem (Bethesda, Activision, Double Fine, etc..) etc.. etc.. etc.. etc..

Everything has failed. No one is buying their hardware. They're seeing the writing on the wall and are pivoting because it's the only way for their brand to be profitable.

I wish i had marching orders. I'd glady shill for whatever company wants to pay me. I'm broke as fuck lol. I'm right there with you. I'll be there day 1 on PC. It does look pretty mid but my expectations are low so I can be surprised. These types of games are right up my alley.

If my content is stuck on Series X, or maybe we are lucky and get another gen, then it won't be a great situation for sure.

But honestly, if it turns out like this, I won't really care that much. It will simply mean that I won't invest in powerful hardware anymore, I already have a hard time feeling myself at home in these modern day offerings. I am still doing it because it was made convenient by MS, but I am not starting again from 0 on Sony or PC, that's for sure.

No one is talking about the Xbox release date. A bit baffling.

I have seen way more people just making fun of the "Xbots"

I have seen a lot of tweets making fun of Phil Spencer. And because of how the Xbox shills were damage controlling and spinning his words, this announcement feels like a direct betrayal/lies of Phil in a more direct/personal way they cannot spin anymore.

Tim Dog said something interesting yesterday in a podcast: that... the announcement/tease of a hybrid/handled, was the result of an internal meeting at Xbox at the beginning of the year to reassure people inside Xbox. (have an optimistic new direction or goal). But the decline of hardware and brand perception has been so fast and brutal that he (Tim dog) doesn't belive they are going to invest in hardware anymore.

Now, in the context of this announcement, I feel that the Xbox brand/hardware/business is in such bad position that MS is trying to expedite and be more efficient in their marketing (cuz they don't have enough money) to proper market this game for Xbox and Playstation in two different marketing cycles.

so now, going forward everytime there is a marketing beat, PS5/Pro it's going to be part of their messaging. (just to create a awareness for PS5 customers). "it's coming to your platform, don't even think buying an Xbox or subscribing to GP, you just wait and buy it".

The only thing I wonder is if they are going to delayed it to next year.
