Indiana Jones and the Great Circle - Releasing December 9th for Xbox / PC / Game Pass - PS5 Spring 2025

It makes sense if Xbox is abandoning console hardware.

Apart from that one scenario, no it doesn't make sense at all. Otherwise, Nintendo and PlayStation would have been releasing their games on Xbox for years now.

It makes sense if Xbox is de-emphasizing their own console hardware, which they clearly are. There's a reason they're pushing for PC, mobile, cloud, handhelds, bringing more and more of their games to other consoles, and are rumored to be partnering with third party companies to build Xbox hardware.

You aren't going to make any money when your hardware base is maxing out at like 50m units and none of your customers want to by games outright because you devalued your software with Game Pass.

Bad reason.
This average ass double A Bethesda game definitely won't be anything near a system seller for Microsoft so they might as well release both versions simultaneously.

Kids nowadays don't even know who Indiana Jones is.

Nobody is buying the game on the Xbox Store anyway...

It's on GamePass for free for people who stacked YEARS of GamePass Ultimate years ago :D

I hope my Xbox Game Pass Ultimate code that I got free on the back of a bag of Doritos will still work in December. I've been saving it for a special occasion.

Microsoft’s high-profile legal battle with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over the fate of its $69 billion buyout of Activision Blizzard unearthed a number of explosive revelations, among them the fact Microsoft renegotiated ZeniMax's deal with Disney to make Bethesda's upcoming Indiana Jones game exclusive to Xbox and PC, thus ditching the PlayStation 5 version.
During the trial, Bethesda's Pete Hines revealed that Disney had an agreement with Bethesda owner ZeniMax for a multiplatform AAA Indiana Jones game, but after Microsoft bought the company, the agreement with Disney was amended to transition the Indiana Jones game to an Xbox and PC exclusive. At the time, Hines said the game was set to hit Game Pass on day one.

I mean, they are not even hiding the PS5 logo on Xbox YT channel anymore. This gif is hardly a joke.

This is part of that slow push towards just dropping any kind of facade. Two months ago when they announced the new Doom at the Xbox showcase, it didn't say anything about PlayStation. We had to find out shortly after the reveal. Now they're telling us during the launch date announcement that Indiana Jones is coming to PS5. We're that much closer to them just announcing games for PS5 right at the reveal.

No one is talking about the Xbox release date. A bit baffling.

I don't think anyone actually cares about this game. The biggest news about it is that it's yet another Xbox game coming to PlayStation. That's going to overshadow every Xbox game until the new reality fully sets in that the console war is over. People say they know it is, but a lot will still act like it isn't for some time.

They didn't even try to continue the charade it was exclusive

Should have waited for a month or two after release to let the cat out of the bag imo

All it did was fuel wars, thats all.

I have seen way more people just making fun of the "Xbots" then actually being happy they were getting an Indy game on the PS5 and likely will be Pro enhanced.

But those Xbox zealots on Twitter and Discord making themselves easy targets with how they are acting

Exactly. And this is the BIGGEST takeaway from all this.

First, they were pretty coy with their PS5 announcements when they announced Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush.

Doom was announced for PS5 day one but it wasn't on stage. They didn't even show a PS5 logo.

With Indiana Jones, they proudly announced the PS5 port on stage as a "one more thing".

We can all guess the next step: a big Xbox exclusive game to be announced for PS5 for day one.

Going to go a step further talking to some in the last hour or so

Phil 100% knew Indy was going to be on the PS5 at the time he said no Starfield and no Indy and its 100% why I picked Starfield as the big game coming because was told it was one of the games Phil lied about and said wasn't heading to PS5

I figured with the DLC and its anniversary Starfield made more sense

Irrespective of if it comes to PS5/6 etc, the game is already under pressure to be the best Indy title in decades, especially as we don't get an Indiana Jones game that often, it is a similar case with Alien, Isolation remains the standard-bearer for that title since 2014....can this Indy game despite its "state of the art" presentation be a better game than Fate of Atlantis...hell even the 1994 release for the Super Nintendo is regarded as being a great tie-in game...

It's amazing how fast 2024 has fallen for Xbox Exclusive content. At the start of the year it actually looked like a strong year for Xbox Exclusives. But...

Hellblade 2 was Hellblade 2
Avowed delayed to 2025
Towerborne now F2P and releasing on Steam before Xbox (Xbox date TBA)
Indiana Jones now coming to PS5.

What a year.

I'm now convinced the hardest job in the world is being an Xbox ambassador, shill, influencer whatever you want to call it. They constantly shovel shit down your mouth and you have to convince people it's delicious. "They're playing the long game!" " It's all part of the master plan!"

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Thank you both for subsidizing PC gaming.

Thank you and now that the announcement's been made, I would urge everyone to check out the preview coverage for the game.
