Is AstroHot low key the current graphics king?

I'm currently finishing the game on the Pro and my CX and, my god, what a beautiful game. I don't think I've seen something as clean and gorgeous as these visuals.

I understand games like Alan Woke 2 and Cyberpunk'd are doing a lot more advanced things visually on PC, in strict technical jargon, but the overall visual impression I believe is on another level here.

The colors, textures, materials, physics, the detail in the small things like screws, ropes, etc. It's just incredible pleasing to look at and play around. The game deserves every award it has gotten. And it runs buttery smooth.

Team Asobi are very talented.

If you're just talking about overall art style and visual design, that'll be up to personal preference. So if that's your favorite looking game, that's fine. It's definitely going for a bright and clean Nintendo-esque art style that's appealing, and visually pops while maintaining easily visible gameplay queues.

My vote for best graphics in a technical sense is clearly Hellblade 2. That's not really commenting on the art style and overall visual design, though I think that is fantastic as well. Overall visual look would take me a lot more time to decide on. Stuff like Bayonetta 0 really blew me away with its watercolor look.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
In this particular art style, it feels pretty close to Rift Apart. I’m no fan of modern Insomniac, but they definitely delivered on that game’s aesthetics. I don’t think Astrohot is noticeably better. Seem kind of on par, visually, and both feel good to play.

Probably.

I can't help rolling my eyes when people claim that games with cardboard stages without any interaction or physics have peak graphics.

Animations and physics are also graphics, and in that regard, Astrobot is far superior to those "cinematic games" where you go in straight lines from point A to point B.

Even games where you do go from point A to point B can look amazing. Look at Trine 2. For years I thought it set the benchmark for 2.5D games easily and was one of the best looking games ever made.

Lol nah man it’s a 10/10 game but the visuals are nothing special. But it has nice joyful design and animations and in general lots of ”life” which is often forgotten. If comparing similar games then Rift Apart is ahead imo, looks like a Pixar movie at times.

I haven't played the full game, but agree with you about the visuals - at least in terms of the pack in that came with the Ps5. I thought it was a pure delight to look at, beautiful really. I expect the full game is that cranked to 11 and really look forward to playing it at some point.

It's Death Stranding 2, but Astro Bot still manages to look fantastic for what it aims to. So yeah, I totally see where OP is coming from.
Astro Bot is an interactive virtual playground with a ton of amazing eye candy.

AstroHot is an example of what you can get when you focus more on art vs tech.

It's a beautiful game but definitely doesn't push the PS5.

I like the clean art style, but I don't see how its a graphical powerhouse. They even claimed to have used every bit of processing power from the PS5, but I don't see it. Great game for sure though.

I think it is just a design of the level looking so clean and clear that makes it look impressive. I wouldn't call it a graphics king though but it is a solid looking game.
