- not jumping in entirely with live service fad

- games releasing in a more finished state

- game discs containing the full game with only minor bugs at worst

- avoiding woke agendas in game stories

- avoiding DEI recruitment in studios

- more games that review well on rank high with Metacritic

Real question...DEI has what to do with games? The person still needs to be qualified so...is this whistleblowing for non-white man? Men like to see cute women and in Japan there is no urgent agenda yet to pretend it’s not like this.

I am getting tired of people saying there is something wrong with that, because it’s just human nature.

For some reason I also don’t see really a push in the music industry to include more not so pretty women. A vast majority of women in the music industry look good and the few ones that don’t need to have exceptional voices. It’s been like this and is continue to be like this.

Even if they start to make character less sexy or appealing, that will not change what kind of women we are attracted to.

And hey it’s not only men, no one can’t say good looking men are more successfull in the entertainment industry.

Of the games I rolled credits on last year, Alone in the Dark and Outlaws were the only Western ones, so probably yes.

Outlaws put me off Western games for a while too - spending all their time making sure ugly boss woman rule the day and npcs talk about their same sex relationships constantly, rather than making a good Star Wars game.

Other than Square aren't most Asian developers pretty conservative with their expectations.

I think some western devs expect too much from their games and end up disappointed even if by most metrics it would be considered a good result.

No every game is going to be a blockbuster and me thinks devs need to understand that.

I hate to break this to you, but nothing lasts forever.

So much stuff that was huge in the zeitgeist when I was a kid would get at best an ironic nod of recognition now, far more likely a blank look.

Without reinvention and innovation things just fade into irrelevance and oblivion over time.

People just get bored.

I know but popular IPs last hundreds of years. DC Comics and Marvel are over 80 years old and the gaming industry has barely even scratched the service with these IP's potential. A game doesn't need to be a "big new IP" to be reinventive or innovative. And yes while people do get bored new people are born every day.

That said the title would be better if instead of Japan was about asian countries. China and Korea are also making some bangers.
