Just finished Ocarina of Time for the very first time!

I just wanted to mention that the PC port is not an emulator. It makes it so you run the game natively like it's a game made for PC. Meaning even some of the worst laptops can run it perfectly fine, perhaps without any extra mods added, which may make it more demanding.

I suggest trying it. Ship of Harkinian for OoT, and 2Ship2Harkinian is MM.

I actually have a super old pc somewhere, but it's that old that I can't imagine BotW running well on it. I've fully finished both OoT and MM though. :)

There’s something that feels almost otherworldly or ethereal about this game to me. About as perfect as a game can get. I’ve played it many times over the years and maybe it’s just the nostalgia but I can’t imagine it ever really being outdated. All the mechanics hold up. The only complaint I can think of it’s how tedious the item switching can be but that’s fairly minor.

For damn sure. Only the targeting of enemies was a hassle at times. It at times wouldn't lock on to enemies which pissed me off.

I've played Minish Cap for a few hours today and yup, I'm already hooked. The new features, new species, it's just so good.

Yeah I played through it again last year after having not played it since the 3DS release. Honestly maybe the goat, certainly one of them. Beautifully paced experience too.

Majora's is 100% worth it. The timer can be a mental block at first but it's not that big of a deal and facilitates a very cool world.

MM timer turned out to be a non issue for me. I started with that immediately after Ocarina and finished it last week, I couldn't stop playing. Right now it's my game of the year, idgaf about rules about how a GOTY can only be a game that released this year, lol. 😜

Ocarina was mine last year. I played nothing else that even came close.

MM timer caused tension but never pissed me off. Once you figure out you can slow down time, whatever.

Minish cap is fun enough, not very challenging. The kin stones always annoyed me, you'd have 20 green pointy ones and everyone wants a green square one.

Oh I didn't have that issue, had more than enough of each. It's not super challenging, but that didn't bother me. Wasn't a fan of the third phased last fight, but thankfully I have save states, so it's all good.

Minish Cap is highly underrated

I didn't know that. It should be highly rated. Such a damn fun adventure and plenty of content.

I've been trying to play this game forever and it's just never clicked with me. I have a save in Dodongo's cave on 3DS but every time I try to get back in I just bounce off

I finally tried at my hand at the oot PC port (ship of harkinian) and WOW it quickly re-cemented OOT as my GOAT. 60+ frames, free look camera, and some qol like faster ladder climbing - along with the 4k texture pack - demonstrates to me that the actual gameplay of the game holds up practically perfectly. Loving it, about to go to Spirit Temple. Can't wait to play the MM port as well!

I held Minish Cap in high regard for years but playing through it twice within the past 5 years, the kinstones absolutely ruin the game for me and I can probably never go back.

Still a damn fine game though for a first time playthrough.

The kinstones didn't bother me, but for my first (only) playthrough I wanted to do everything. If I want to do all of that again, nah. How necessary are the kinstones? Plenty optional ones too.

Hard to say. I feel like the 3 times I've played it, I exhausted pretty much everything there is to do and most of it didn't feel optional. I didn't do all the sea shell figurine stuff. Outside of the kinstones, the game is a dime, especially some of the tunes. It's also great via the Wii U gamepad, that's how I played it the two prior times. Don't want to dog the game too hard, I don't think it's trash by any means.

Oh yeah, the shells. Yeah I didn't bother with that either. I did a few, but took way too long. I did have 999 at the end, lol.
