The tide has just started turning in 2024, first game came out 2018 so this sequel was likely planned and went into full production during the peak when woke mobs were doing witchhunts on people for not being progressive enough. It’s not unlikely that they reacted to the controversies around the first game. And it might be difficult to react now and rewrite big chunks of the game during the final polish phase.
I think lots of games coming out 2025-2026 will cater to the modern audience that’s now less popular.
