List of PS5 Pro enhanced games

BMW just got a major update on every platform. The patch notes say:

  • Optimized the graphics under Quality Mode. (PS5)

Anybody tried to see what they mean? They also added NXSR on PC, another upscaler which is seemingly more demanding than DLSS and looks worse, so I have no idea what it's for.

Also love the bad translation of the notes.

  • Fixed an issue where the snow terrain could not perform correctly in the New West.
What the hell does a terrain not performing correctly mean lol?
The hell is BMW?

Why did they get an OLED? Tbh, if I had a very bright room, I'd just get a top of the line LCD with insane brightness instead.
I would get blackout curtains before I got a lesser tv. I know it's not doable for everyone but it's necessary if you are anywhere inside the enthusiasts spending of time or money. Having a dedicated or high end space for games or movies in a bright setting makes zero sense

How do KCD2, silent hill 2 and rebirth(+remake) perform on the pro?

No idea about KCD2 but rebirth runs well the first couple of hours I played. Be prepared though for lots of pop-in and the usual PSSR jaggies at even surfaces like metal bars.
I only played the first hour of SH2 on performance mode as I'm hoping for another patch. In it's current state expect frequent FPS drops on performance mode (at least in the first hour). Also unstable image in both performance and quality mode.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I mean. Games could always be 60fps. No reason uncharted 4 or tlou2 couldn’t be 60 on ps4 but they wouldn’t look this good.

But now we have better cpu and tons of scaling options. Should be easier
Cerny covered this, the amount of stuff you can get out of just 5 frames is staggering.
It's why the resolution plus additional effects are sacrificed to get a high framerate.
Building your game around 60fps is a way to do it, but a lot of sacrifices are still made even then.
You'll be hard pressed to convince a developer otherwise especially on consoles to budge on their vision, if they think 60fps is must they do it.
I'm sure Kojima could of done MGS3 at 60fps on PS2.
But that would have hindered what he wanted to achieve.
So 60fps went to the chopping board.

Maybe best bet is to play disc version 1.0 in quality mode ?
I already beat it twice but was considering a Pro for yet another playthrough as my main selling point. I just really fucking like that game. Not saying I'd buy it FOR that but yea...SH2 not having trailing shit everywhere and proper lighting at 60fps would be the push I'd need. That's why I keep checking in 🥲

in that case, unfortunately ps5 pro version sucks. We have to wait....

Nothing regarding a further patch for Silent Hill 2, right? Still holding out hope somehow.

Do not let this deter you. The PS5 Pro version does not suck, unless you think the base game sucks worse.

The PS5 Pro version runs better. Has a higher average resolution and framerate.

If you want to play SH2, go play SH2. It's a great game, looks great on PRO even if it's not really optimized for it well. The only part in the game that has issues is the first 2 minutes with some shimmering on puddles. That's literally it. It's not a big deal.

Does it look better on quality or performance mode on the Pro?

I was pretty sensitive to 30 fps for this game, for some reason. It looked juddery.

I chose Performance mode. I don't think the quality mode looks that much better. There's one indoor area in a cafe with a stark difference, but I tried out multiple areas that all looked about the same.
