I dont think that's really an improvement, it's just more cups, and cups are lame imo
I would settle for MKDS missions since this series will never get DKR or CTR treatment
Super late on this response --need to keep up better with GAF -- but I'm the DualShockers reviewer.
The $100 point I put in the conclusion was an average for more dedicated MK players -- people who grabbed Wiimotes, amiibo figures, and other peripherals would climb wag over $100. That's an assumption though, and I think a fair criticism of my own review
You would think a full price rerelease would have an improved single player component
Aren't tournaments just communities with a running score tally...?
Any impressions of how time trial ghost sharing works? They've consistently dropped the ball with that after perfecting it in Mario Kart Wii.
lolmy only question to the game is why nintendo don't add rumble HD to it. Is it too hard? or actually the rumble HD is not as good as we thought?
Especially on a portable.
In a nutshell i fear for the decline of the single player experience.
Lol at all the salt in this thread.
Meanwhile I will enjoy the hell out of this game.
I mean, a lot of the salt is because people already enjoyed the hell out of it 3 years ago at the same price.

I personally don't think it's fair to include Amiibos in the pricing honestly. Those came out way after original Mario Kart 8 release date. plus your were told what their functions were and how limited it was. That's sounds like it's more on you rather then the game.Super late on this response --need to keep up better with GAF -- but I'm the DualShockers reviewer.

The point I was trying to make was that people who have spent $72 or $120, or somewhere in between and hundreds of hours will see much less pay off in the remaster and should consider the purchase more heavily.
That said, MK8D is fantastic and a must buy for those who either never played the original or grabbed the DLC. If you've got any questions, let me know.
great base game + all the DLC included + more content on top of that = positive reviews
Don't worry, you'll take your open world games and like it!

Wait is there actually confirmation that there is no HD rumble in this? I thought I remembered a lot of impressions talking about how they could feel the different road surfaces.

Great reviews and i'll be buying.
This is the reason why the Mario Kart series has been surpassed by the likes of Diddy Kong Racing and Sonic an All Stars racing transformed for me. Great single player experiences.
Sure, it's still a full-priced remaster. I played the shit out of MK8 with its DLC. The addition of a battle mode sounds pretty great, but not $60 great. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Enhanced ports are a very weird beast to review, though, so understandably reviews are all over the place throughout. For some games reviewers act like enhanced ports being $60 is a crime against humanity. For others it's an afterthought slipped in at the end of a 10/10 review. For some the base game being great has no bearing whatsoever, for others it's essentially a guarantee sure-fire hit with critics because they loved the original and critics tend to never replay or stick around much with a game past its initial launch review window.
This seems like one of those games we didn't really need reviews for. It's basically exactly what it says it is.

Hmm... I get the feeling you're confusing that HD Rumble speculation video that described using vibrations to mimic road surfaces with thinking that it got put into Mario Kart.
I've read it does have hd rumble but not overly done.
I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just pointing out how the positive scores aren't the least bit confusing even if you disagree with them based on your own personal value judgement.

Buts that's just my opinion. I find the score fair anyways, just not sure I agree with the peripherals argument.
Ash from GameXplain said that was in the game a while back from his experience with it.Hmm... I get the feeling you're confusing that HD Rumble speculation video that described using vibrations to mimic road surfaces with thinking that it got put into Mario Kart.
I don't recall seeing that video actually. I remember hearing this from people who played the demos at the Switch events but I don't know if there's ever been confirmation.

To be fair, it would actually cost more to buy Mario Kart 8 on Wii-U w/DLC today than it would to buy on Switch if you're just counting the cost of the game and not hardware.
Cuz Nintendo.

He just assumed and then covered his assumption up with "maybe it's not good".instead of saying lol you could tell him that the game supports HD rumble, dont you think?
Can each JoyCon part act as a controller? Ie one JoyCon, two controllers?
I kind of understand some of the arguments. Although the base game is great, they could of added quite a bit more to the port to warrant the full price(although the Wii U version is still priced really high).

Sure, but I'm also pointing out how the value judgment of reviewers varies wildly. Sometimes a full-priced remaster gets shit on, others reviewers couldn't care less about price.
