Numbers without context is a MS speciality... it's tiresome, to put it gently.
You're confusing Xbox with MicroSoft. This really worked in your head before you typed it up?
The party taking 70% of the revenue on PlayStation, and 80% on Steam is the losing party?
Ah yes, everyone knows the typical longevity for a Call of Duty game is one month
Gamepass subscribers pay money for the subscription.
I dunno, for online game it's especially cheaper to pay $70 upfront than to shill $20 a month regardless of a platform. Another hot take is that SP games are more suited for GP model in general, not premium MP titles.
I'm quite sure that the mentioned sub spike is coming from the people who paid $20 tops to be done with campaign (always-online this time too) and forget about CoD for a year.
First-party excellenceCongratulations team Xbox.
Another fantastic first party release.

You do realize that when you pay $70 for COD, you’d still have to pay a monthly fee for online play?
So the calculation isn’t $70 vs $20 GP sub per month.
It’s $70 + $10 per month (if you subscribe monthly) vs $20 per month for GamePass ultimate.
In essence, the price delta isn’t THAT much, and you’d also have access to lots more games.
Perhaps?
But campaign only players were less likely to buy day one at full price anyway.
“60% increase over MWIII”
Number AND Context. Right there in the OP. Reading required, of course

Money came from team Windows/Office. Not Team Xbox. that doesn't make money.
It is also true that we are talking about a more anticipated launch and with better reviews than COD 2023 and that is also an aspect to be valued to understand the increase in sales.
Multiplayers fun, hectic but fun. Haven't tried campaign yet but comments seem to be positive. Is it any good? Campaign and multiplayer I mean
Best CoD SP in almost a decade. I'm too old for MP though. Is it any good? Campaign and multiplayer I mean
You know what I had my doubts about this approach at first when rumors started circulating but at this point as long as they keep putting out fun games I enjoy playing I don't really care what system they end up on. I do want at least one more Xbox console generation though whatever form that may end up taking.60% more sales on PS5 and Steam vs last year edition, still `Steam top seller. At the same time record of new subs on GamePass, this will show MS that there is little risk with this approach. This could mean all big releases day 1 on all platforms and Gamepass, if they can keep it to 2-3 big games per quarter (possible with so many studios) - must plays - people will start to see what value gamepass offers.
My comment has nothing to do with FY earnings. This isn't the FY earnings topic, chief. You're in the wrong one.
Team Xbox has little to nothing to do with CoD.
And first party = Microsoft. Not sure what team Windows or Office have to do with this discussion then.
CoD is a first party franchise.

What is next? Congratulations team Xbox for the success of WoW War Within?
You must have missed the news, to be honest it was barely covered outside of highly specialized outlets, but MS bought Activision. So basically Sony and Steam won big here over Xbox because isn’t this game like $69 on PS5 and Steam while it’s zero for existing game pass members lol.
People could sign up to game pass for like $5-$15 beat the game or play MP for a month and cancel.
Game pass really screwed them up IMO. They should have gated the content early and not have the day one thing so Xbox gamers would have continued to buy games full price in their ecosystem.

Indeed, Starfield’s release day set a new record for most new Game Pass subscriptions in a single day. While Nadella did not share sales numbers for Starfield, he said that over eleven million users had played the game with nearly 50% of hours having been played on PC.

Yep, big numbers. Still need more runway, and to dig into the actual sales numbers and see what's really going on.
So did my dodge . Until it died.Nah. I ram my way.
Very selective numbers.
Good to see a Microsoft title lead sales with no1 title of the year again too.
It's threads like these that remind us why MS/Xbox fans either don't exist here so much on GAF or just don't post. As usual well played fan boys and girls with shit takes.
A game releases across all platforms and performs well, but better yet is actually getting good player reception for a quality game, and it still gets shit on. Grow the fuck up.
So did my dodge . Until it died.
Fortunately all cars go to heaven.
Pretty stick of seeing the extreme fan takes from any side TBH.Eh.....we had Xbox fans shitting up Astro Bot threads not too long ago. It goes both ways.
Off topic: Is it really good? I was thinking to get one. I enjoyed MW1 and MW2. Is it as good as those two OG? The gunship level on C130 gunship is always memorable to me.Best CoD since MW2. Deserved
Lol why you have to be mad?Jesus. You're sad as fuck. Imagine pretending xbox had anything to do with this.
Yes, is really good.Off topic: Is it really good? I was thinking to get one. I enjoyed MW1 and MW2. Is it as good as those two OG? The gunship level on C130 gunship is always memorable to me.
Yes, is really good.
$68.7 billionIsn’t it the same basic game that’s been made for over a decade? Is there any innovation going on?
Pretty much. Considering how many people have infinite gamepass for a dollar they exploited for years before patching the workaround it's not really a bragNumbers without context is a MS speciality... it's tiresome, to put it gently.
I'll need to dust off that "not sure if serious" gif.CoD is a first party franchise.
