Right now interest is favourable and the drops are going to start coming strong and fast but still no where near favourable as owning the most successful video game franchise of the last decade. CoD is eternal.
WIZARDS.
Get with the times, file sizes are so 2019Biggest ever file size? Not surprised
Wtf? Now that COD is owned my Microsoft, you all want it to fail?
Biggest ever file size? Not surprised
Xbros have had it so rough for so long, let them have their 5 minutes in the sun, they earned it even if MS didn't.I don't think it's wanting COD to fail, more not wanting it paraded like some sort of crowning achievement.
"COD on PS5 is great and sells gangbusters!"
"I know man! Holy shit I can't believe how smart, skilled and for gamers XGS are! I had no idea until they added the logo to this Activision game I always buy! I gotta admit you X Bros were right all along!"
It pre-loaded the MP if you had MW2/3 even if you didn't buy it, and it made you re-download MW3 (and maybe 2, not sure, I uninstalled that a while ago) and that was a big file size. It's only 95gb? With all this talk about file size, I feared way worse. I might try it even.

Baaaaaaahhh… you made me look, GAF. I was looking for something to substitute my GW stock since it’s too high. But right now it’s not that low:So number of players only?

To be faaaaaaaiiiiiiirrrrrr, they discontinued the $1 deal just before CoD dropped.Step 1: give away your game for a $1 trial
Step 2: proclaim your game is a huge success with no numbers or context
The Microsoft special.
Nope. But if you want to argue, You can say that about most any sequel to any game that it is basically same game with some graphical improvements (sometimes without) and different story and maybe couple new gameplay elements.

To be fair this COD is vastly different from MW3 on the MP side of things anyhow and is a nice evolutionYeah but most games don’t come out every single year and do tend to have a bit more that evolves
CoD is like a sports game with annual roster changes
- Microsoft bought Activision for $75 billion. So Microsoft spent $70b of excess cash and now has the reward of generating more money than the interest was doing for them while also owning an appreciating asset?
Financial WIZARDS.
Where did you get that figure from?Activision is at a $1.3 billion operating loss
Massive increase YoY.Baaaaaaahhh… you made me look, GAF. I was looking for something to substitute my GW stock since it’s too high. But right now it’s not that low:

I think that's the whole year not the Q.Where did you get that figure from?
It seems to be $0.44B loss this Q unless I am reading it wrong. In FY24, Activision Blizzard reached a revenue of $5.72 billion and an operating loss of $1.36 billion (driven by various post-merger expenses).
Yes. I’m looking for something that is low, not high.Massive increase YoY.
I think that's the whole year not the Q.
Edit: Yeah it doesn't even count this Q:

They say this every year lol
I aint doubting cod is basically a madden fiffa for everyone just a reskinned yearly release
This isn't an Xbox thread. It's threads like these that remind us why MS/Xbox fans either don't exist here so much on GAF or just don't post. As usual well played fan boys and girls with shit takes.
A game releases across all platforms and performs well, but better yet is actually getting good player reception for a quality game, and it still gets shit on. Grow the fuck up.
Haven't seen than in any games for decades. So the answer is no.Is there any innovation going on?
It’s a fun word to say lolI just like saying BLOPs
Good reviews and positive word of mouth and a proper new COD and we can assume that many Xbox gamers are on PC and/or PS5 now. What would cause sales to increase 60% on PlayStation and Steam?
*for selected gamesThis isn't an Xbox thread.
Microsoft/Xbox Games Studios is a multiplatform* company now.

You just listed (just missing Roboblox, Minecraft, gta v etc.) the most popular and games across PlayStation, pc and Xbox. So yeah, these games release yearly and they sell more and make more money than any other games out there. They say this every year lol

best not to give a shit. Every company who's ever bought another company will do this. Look at Insomniac. If you think Sony won't brag about Marathon being an awesome achievement that a Sony studio accomplished, you'd be crazy. Meanwhile Bungie has been owned by MS and Acti at some point.I don't think it's wanting COD to fail, more not wanting it paraded like some sort of crowning achievement.

Absolutely. Especially fanboys. Fanboys have no dignity and will wave the flag harder than any company could, with crass, vulgar belligerency. As a press release sure, but through fanboys?
Now release Black Ops 1 and 2 on gamepass microbeeech!
They really should. Hell, release Infinite Warfare, it's 8 years old now. The rollout of these games has been surprisingly slow.
Microsoft's official financial slides show that Activision is $1.3 billion in operating loss.Where did you get that figure from?

Honestly don't know a lot about the games and how they pick which games end up on GPDon't know how true it is but apparently Jez asked about this and was told that anytime you are wondering why XXX isn't on GP, it's a licensing issue 99% of the time.HeisenbergFX4 this seems like something you might have some inside details about but not sure if you can share anything.
