That's what it's trying to say. Something like, "Technology of tomorrow, today," would send that message more clearly.

I first read it as, not yet beta tested. Beta tested.....later.

Yeah I eventually realized what it meant

But average Joe is not going to think that

Test + future = Has yet to be tested

Should've been 'Bringing the future to your living room today!"

Or similar

As cheesy as this is I think they should have gone with...Xbox One - The Future Is Now.

Or some variation like "The Future Is Here" or "The Future Has Arrived"

Cheesy? Yes. Easy for the average consumer to understand? Yes.

Yeah the 'The Future is now!' is actually the best one I've heard thus far

Simple, easy, meaningless

Great PR

Watch apple use it in the next day or two for something :p

I actually did a quick Google search to see if it was a tagline already implemented by another company at some point in time but I couldn't find anything. There were some weird references to MS using it in 2004 but I couldn't find any ads with it.

That was the whole point of my post above sigh

I swear that is what it said

There is definitely an Xbox One ad there and I've seen it

I want someone else to check though as I only glimpsed it

I knew I should've taken a picture

I'm sure someone else will verify it soon in any event. Can some photoshop expert throw the image through that photoshop checker program thingy?

My only guess is that they're suggesting the Xbone is so amazing, it's like it came from the future.
Honestly I don't see how you could read that and see a benefit as a consumer

What could it possibly mean that would be a boon to it?

Just seems like over hyperbolic marketing jargon like the 'blow your pants off' comment in the resogun thread

Seriously even if that is the meaning, as you say, it really illustrates the point it is trying to convey poorly. I mean it's not worse than that weird crying baby PS3 commercial, but it's definitely bizarre. One of those things that probably sounded cool in some marketing meeting and just failed to get the proper vetting, I imagine.

Penello!! where art thou!?

lol @ they take marketing ideas from Verendus.

"hey Microsoft, how'd you get this marketing campaign?"
"From that Sony insider."
"oooookay."

It's the exact same picture posted on here, I think. Confirms nothing

I've seen it in San Francisco in person

I can give the street intersection if needed

I've made several posts on it but can't verify as I live an hour south

Seriously any gaffers live in San Francisco and want to verify it for us?

Those billboards do a great job telling people that there is a thing called the Xbox One and that's it. Good going Microsoft.

Those are some terrible fucking taglines. Plus, it all looks so much like the rest of Microsoft's branding recently - which is absolutely cancerous for their image.

I'm still trying to figure out what this is supposed to mean to the consumer. I genuinely have no idea. I have to imagine it must be obvious and I'm just missing out on the obvious answer, but I really have no clue. Not the first idea.

It reads to me like they are releasing an unfinished product, really bad slogan, they should definitely remove it.

Saw the Xbox One on display today at a MS store. The console is not as big as some may think and looks beautiful. Now onto the controller. WOW this controller looks amazing in person, so dam beautiful. This controller is no joke, wait until you guys see it in real life.

To quote my friend Chris, "It feels silky but grippy, like an expensive magazine cover"

Um, that white text is not aligned on the horizontal, and is perspective skewed. If that is real, then the text is getting larger in font size as it moves left to right. And the verticals are off too.

So it's either fake, or an optical illusion of immense and pointless complexity.

And the text is too white compared to the other whites on the poster.

Saw the Xbox One at a Microsoft kiosk set in a high traffic intersection, (lol microsoft trying hard), of my local mall. I think it looks pretty good but uninspired. The controller looks great though.
