When I eat a 60 min meal and start getting hungry 20-30 mins in, do I just eat steak or a ration for the missing stamina? That doesn’t reset my meal benefits?
Do what I (and most people) do and just do the basic ration meal. You don't need anything else.

Wilds is my first real MH. I had World since release but had barely played it until now.
In World it feels like you're actually hunting a monster. I enjoy the feeling of being in the wilderness. You can't just fast travel everywhere.
My last hunt had so much back and forth with different monsters showing up. It was more memorable than anything in Wilds.

After all this time of trying out different weapons for Wilds I ended up settling for the humble SnS. I think the last time I gave SnS a serious go was during a brief love affair with perfect rush during IB. It didn't last long before I went back to HBG.
But the SnS in Wilds.... It's just so damn good. Its combos are so fluid and natural, the regular triangle combo can be used for small repositions, the slide is amazing for larger ones and comes with i-frames, it has perfect guard and power clash making the shield actually useful for blocking now. Practically its entire moveset is useful now. Even guard slash, which ranged from a joke to actually detrimental in other entries, can now be used to reset for a perfect guard. All that and it's still mobile and can still use items while it's unsheated.
I'm now starting a character that will have nothing but SnS uses on the guild card. It's just a shame that the intro cutscene forces the use of a GS.

having over 1500 hours in World, I can tell you that the "fast travel everywhere" can absolutely be done once you're familiar with the monster's routes and got all the camps opened. as for monsters showing up, I've got plenty of that in Wilds too. I do wish we get to see more of the turf wars thou. more often then not I would miss those because I was still traveling or gathering stuff while I'm on the way but that's partly my own fault.

just hit HR201 and I do agree that Tempered Gore is the only one that's giving me trouble still. I had been trying out lance these last couple of days and I think other than Jin's room wide AOE, Gore's breath attack is the only one that still chipped a big chunck of my hp even when I blocked. and that's with Guard, Guard Up, fully upgraded Arkveld set and all. the fact that I don't get to fight him all that often also means I'm not as familiar with it's attack "tells" as Arkveld's and some of Gore's big moves happens so fast it's almost impossible to dodge or block if you had not face it before. I really hope they'll add more of the other "related" monsters into Wilds later down the road.

Without a doubt the buggiest fight in this game and it's not close

My favorite Jinbug I found was I was hitting him and he started the animation to do his Frost Nova, I immediately tried to run away from underneath him but I couldn't move because I was between him and the wall. I tried to run, I tried to evade roll, I tried to jump. I was trapped underneath his hitbox. After a moment of panic, I did the trick where you open the map and fast travel back to the Makeshift Camp to prevent myself from being carted

Wish I could have recorded that, it was hilarious afterwards to think about

well, in World you can fast travel everywhere BUT, camps arent marked on the map like in Wilds, you really need to find them, need to explore every map and once you find them you need to gather resource to make them available, it helps immensely to sell the feel of exploration and that is imo a major flaw in MHwilds.

Turf wars in World too have more impact, the Monster feels more wild and aggressive, everytime a turf war happen in World u just want to get out the way, in Wilds doesn't have the same impact.

I'm not so sure about that, the Tempered Arkveld we were fighting last night got into a turf war with a Rathalos and all 4 of us were like nuh uh and just stood back and watched

I cant really get over how much they have pissed away what MH is, just to get some new players that dosent care about MH and will leave in a few weeks. What a bad move Capcom, hope it was worth it in the end. Well back to world and or install Monster hunter gen g.

Eh, they attracted people like me because they made Wilds the way it is and while the 'hardcore' fans have migrated back to older games, I'm still enjoying the game at HR112 after 74hrs playtime.

Reading a lot of the comments in here, it's weird to see supposed fans claim that people like me will be leaving the game when they themselves have already left and are complaining.🤷🏾‍♂️

The sales numbers we've got so far alone pretty much guarantee that from their perspective, they did almost everything right. They will continue to grow their IP, just like they do with Resident Evil and Street Fighter, too. Those new players are the ones paying for Monster Hunter to continue into the future.

This new direction makes me happy that I didn’t buy the game, and only rented it. I think I’ve purchased every other MH since the Wii version. Most times double dipping to play the games on multiple platforms. Now, once seems enough, and only as a rental.

They didnt do it for the "fans" then but for you, so we dont have to feel bad to leave for the old MH games at all.

Maybe. Looking at steamdb they seem to have lost half the playercount from the release to now, a steady count downwards in number, lets see where it ends in a couple of weeks. BUT, they still have time in favour, so maybe the "fans" and new people will both be happy in the end.
Sure, but we're also talking 407K CCU rn for Wilds vs ~230K CCU for World in the same timespan. (Around 2.5 weeks post release)

MH World dropped from 335K CCU (aug 12 2018) down to 44K CCU (october 30, 2018) in ~2 months on Steam.

Drops happen, but numbers are higher now.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
It's kinda wild (no pun intended) that i was waiting for this to be my goty, possible gotg and i'm fucking done with it after 40 hours and i'm not even sure if i liked it more than rise that i already loved way less than world.
Reminds me of myself while playing Dragon's Dogma 2 lol.

Just go and check some older Monster Hunter games if you haven't. GU is amazing and Frontier got revived some time ago.

I would cut my dick to make a bratwurst before playing anything that require skill on a small portable with my huge hands.

Let's pray gog.com is gonna bring some of the old games on pc like they are doing with other titles, althought i'm not i'm gonna like them if they are clunkier than world.

I believe Frontier can be played on PC. GU as well, if you don't mind emulating, although it has the adventage of being playable at 60fps instead of the console's 30. There's even people playing online through Ryujinx.

Man I'd love for Capcom to release those on PC. But I don't think they'll ever do it, since they'd be cannibalizing sales from their other, more modern games.

Thought the same when I jumped from World (my first MH) to GU but man, once you get used to the menus (lacks some QOL there) the gameplay is just as good if not better. Monsters are way more aggresive in the old games, imo.

No i don't emulate nothing so my best bet is gog or capcom.

The problem with GU is the gameplay, dont get me wrong, back in the day It was awesome, but i cant get past the clunkness anymore, If you can, amazing game, one of, If not the best in the séries.

I think the turf wars in Wilds are fine. some are really great in fact. I've seen Rathian picking up a Quematrice, dropped it from like 20 feet in the air and then fire breath it. I've seen Lala Barina tap dancing on Doshaguma but then got completely bodied by it and had to paralyze feather it to run away. I've seen Ebony Odogaron went all up on the Fulgur Anjanath and I've seen Gypceros flashing Nerscylla as it was being wrapped up by it's web. there are a lot of great turf wars and interactions between the monsters, it's just that we often missed it due to travel or the chaos of the fight. one thing I do think that had caused this feeling of the turf wars in Wilds not as good as World, is that the monsters kinda "get down to business" a lot faster and the fights also ends faster. in World they would often roar at each other for a little while before the actual fight begins. in Wilds they almost feel like they just get down to the turf wars as soon as they make eye contact.

I think part of the difficulty for older MonHun titles were mainly due to technology issues. and as we get better in that aspect, the devs were able to create a better experience and make things more "optimized", which also made a lot of the old hunters less satisfy with the hunt for feeling less challenging. but I suspect they will probably be able to relieve some of these issues with all the updates that's coming. it was the same way with World too after all. I don't mind this at all since it helps bring in more new hunters as the sales numbers indicated. and seasoned hunters will get their challenges coming once the dust had settled.

I feel the MonHun series had always about the long game. back then, from what I was able to tell since I didn't play it, the PSP MonHuns had been all about bringing the game with you to school/work and do a hunt here and there when you have time or get together with friends to hunt. I think that's the vibe the devs had expected and wanted since not everyone can be grinding 200+ hours in 2 weeks afterall. just like FFXIV, go have some fun with something else if you feel you're already bored with it. hop back in once new updates are here. the game is here to stay these days and I'm all for it.

I miss little touches that were present in World but not in Wilds. The seasonal guild hall, the seasonal food, captured monsters actually showing up at the base complete with all the damage they took, having an actual base instead of oversized camps, having a room instead of a tent, being able to display endemic life. And yeah, it does seem really easy. In the entire story, I only carted once, to Zoh Shia cause I had no idea how to evade his nova the first time I saw it. Props to them for creating a proper fight instead of gimmick fight unlike the more recent MH story bosses though. It was a pretty good spectacle too, can't wait to see the fully evolved version.
