Watched Her for the first time yesterday. Sheeitttt… That was straight out prophetic right there. I honestly don’t see how future could not be like this the way things are going right now.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Horror in the High Dessert it's free on YouTube watched it recently. I liked it part 2 was not that great. I hear 3 is good but haven't gotten around to watch it.

I saw all three of these over the last couple of days.

They get progressively worse with each entry, unfortunately.

The first one is legit decent, the second one has *one* REALLY good scene (the car light illuminating the character standing in pitch black), the third movie just feels like a copy paste of the first, like they ran out of ideas.

Thanks that'll save me from watching the last one.

Inheritance. Should probably just be called Clever Girl.... because the protagonist is just playing along and is way smarter than everyone else. 2/5

Inheritance more like in here its tense.

Watched Excalibur last night after seeing the thread by EviLore EviLore . Can't believe I'd never watched this. Really enjoyed. Great cast.

I also watched Smile 2. I thought the first Smile was decent, but I think I enjoyed this one more. Not sure why. Maybe just in the mood for this style of horror.

Go tell that guy that hated Excalibur all the good stuff you liked.

Watched Heretic. Hugh Grant traps Mormon missionary nuns in his house trap and tries to get them to question their religion. Crazy antics ensue. I was expecting a more elaborate escape room type movie. Instead it was just kind of paint-by-numbers predicable bleh.

Continuing my found footage horror movie streak.

Probably the worst of these kind I've seen so far. Full of over-editing, as in lots of overt flashing, editing, camera doing obvious pans and zooms at 'ghosts' in the corners with accompanying sound effects, like 'baby's first found footage film', very poor acting, not really much redeeming about the movie at all.

The movie's poster is probably the best thing about it.

2/10 at best.

So based on that rating, I assume Godzilla never shows up?

(for context, certain Godzilla films/continuities ties Godzilla’s origin or other aspects to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki)

Sadly no Kaiju's, just some real shitty amateur-hour found footage work.

Sherrybaby (2006)

Indie-Drama starring Maggie Gyllenhaal in which she plays a young woman who just got released from 3 years in prison and has to battle her ongoing addiction issues, transitioning from incarcerated life to living in a halfway home and most importantly: potentially losing her daughter.

It's white trash porn. I don't know what else to say about this movie. If this type of thing pushes your buttons then maybe you'll enjoy it, but I'd rather recommend getting new buttons. It's not bad, it just lingers on way too much.

Personally I wouldn't recommend it, but as I said, it's by no stretch bad, so I'll say: 6/10.

★★★★★ / Cool metal arm fixes everything

Akira will forever be my all time favourite sci-fi. Prefer the original English dub, but the updated version tells the story better

The soundtrack, the art and animation still too tier, it's everything I love about manga.

Easy 10/10 for me

And it's currently got the 4k remaster on YT (original dub)

Neighbours from Hell
Finally saw Gladiator 2 and I have to say I thought it was pretty bad. I'm a sucker for movies like this so I actually thought I'd find something more in it than reviewers did, but I'm actually surprised reviewers gave it the scores they did. Not great scores, but solid scores. Heard almost every reviewer say it's basically just Gladiator cut and pasted with, but I actually totally disagree with that. The first half of the movie carried a lot of the same story beats, but the second half of the movie was completely out of control. Just devolved into utter nonsense that gave up on trying to stay grounded or make any sense. It felt like a Michael Bay movie. And on top of the madness, it had none of the heart Gladiator did. Absolutely none of it.

I did not enjoy it and I thought I would.

A complete Unknown - a weird name because it was about a guy that everyone seemed to know. He never met a stranger. 4/5

Really made Bob out to be a narcissist which he probably is.

One of the things I liked about A Complete Unknown is it didn't shy away from the idea that its subject is a dick. With a lot of biopics because the subject or their estate are involved it's often about how they're great and the people who criticised them were wrong. But with A Complete Unknown you get the sense that while Dylan is incredibly talented he maybe isn't someone you'd want to hang out with.

I watched "Green Book" (based on the very real Green Book travel book for black people) for the first time today. I was pleasantly surprised. For some reason, I thought it would be one of those sad films because of the era it was in but it was genuinely great! Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali are national TREASURES!

The Monkey

It has been a good while since I read the original short story by Stephen King, but I remember it being quite scary. This adaption was anything but. It has been turned into a dark comedy where nothing interesting really happens. Sure there is massive amounts of blood splatter, but it can only carry the movie for so long. Didn't really enjoy this one.

I really want to watch this to see how close to home it hits. Renfield hit really close to home. It's horror/comedy give it a watch if u haven't.

I skipped based on reviews similar to your post.

In the Tall Grass (Netflix)
Let my daughter pick last night's movie and she picked this piece of shit. Not much good to say about this one, and the script must have been 75 pages of each character yelling "Becky!!!" or occasionally yelling one of the other forgettable character's names. Becky stands out as it is yelled no less than 4,000 times in 90 minutes.
