Musk is starting an AI game studio

I’ll never understand how he finds time for everything…

Owns half a dozen companies
Spends all day shit posting on X
The range of topics suggest he’s not just posting but also spending hours reading posts/news
Now heading a new gov department to remake the US
Plays a lot of games
But also plays one popular game enough to be the best in the world at it
Has like a dozen kids to half a dozen women, whom he presumably sees some of some of the time…

Like there’s just not enough hours in the day

Over/under on this dethroning Star Citizen 2 for gaming money sink of the century?

All the people ripping this might want to keep this in mind. He’s the most successful and influential person on the planet and betting against him is probably the dumbest thing you can do.

You couldn't pay me enough to throat down another grown man's ball sack the way I see some of you worship this dude online.

I mean like 'em and all that, whatever but some of you sound like you're in a cult.

Just a reminder - this is the amazing "game" Elon Musk worked on in the past:

He worked on this? Hmm, interesting.

NGL this game seems like crap now, but at the time some of the tech involved was impressive. Still paled in comparison to the Capcom version however.

Ahh yes, you know you won an argument when you accuse the other person of oral sex and being in a cult. If people want to continue to bury their head in the sand and act like complete moron because they don’t like Elon, then by all means. Good riddance.

I remember a interview where Elon was asking people did they play Deus Ex so it's definitely a fan of that game and I bet if this game company does go through than he'll make a game similar to Deus Ex as one of his games at least.

Sure buddy, the guy with a successful car company, internet company, space exploration company, social media platform, and the man that played a huge role in getting the 47th president elected and then himself appointed a cabinet position is going to fail at his next next venture. People laughed at him and ridiculed him and told him he couldn't do all the previous things he has done, but this time he will fail. Laugh it up! So funny!
The richest man in the world who built his car company on gov loans and subsidies and now is going to push to remove said subsidies to hurt his competitors?

Who spent $170+ mil to elect Trump so he can get sweet tax breaks and not pay jack unlike us peons? Mind you I am not against Trump per se considering the alternative, but allowing billionaires to play kingmakers isn’t a good idea.

Musk basically turned from a brilliant visionary into a narcissistic sociopath. Hero’s journey indeed.

What that even mean
Knowing Musk whole lot of over-promising and delays and over-inflated stock prices, with a sprinkle of crypto-grift, plus a testing ground to figure out how to eliminate white collar jobs and finish breaking the back of the middle class.

Musk basically turned from a brilliant visionary into a narcissistic sociopath. Hero’s journey indeed.
He just pretended to be normal long enough to embed himseld in elite society. He's not a visionary, he's a guy who's good at personal mythmaking.

Eh, whatever I think about Musk, it took tremendous amount of vision and belief in himself to get Tesla and Space X where they are right now. It’s not just networking, hustling, etc…

The amount of sheer drive Musk had till he went off the deep was amazing. I don’t like the Musk 2.0 at all, but got to give him his due.

I don’t think for a min that Tesla, for example, would have succeeded.

There was also a fair amount of fraud, lying to investors, and weird legal maneuvering. Elon didn't found Tesla, either, he just got into a legal battle with the founder of Tesla and agreed to pay out on the condition that he gave him the legal right to call himself the founder of Tesla even though he has nothing to do with founding the company.

He does have a very good sense of what market opportunities to pursue, you can call that visionary in a sense, but he has always been a piece of shit and he also spent a lot of time trying to build up this image of being some kind of inventor or technical genius that he is absolutely not in real life.

A lot of who people think Elon Musk is, is actually Jeff Bezos.

Would be interesting to sort of quick survey choose your own adventure Q&A then a game is dynamically built around a basic framework.

Inputs such as time period, environments, weather, fav colours, character traits etc.

So basically Phil Spencer (but with some successful products i.e Space X) 😁

Actually saying that you'd think the purple place would love Elon. They've got a thing for cult of personalities in gaming. He should try buying the forum like he did Twitter, the meltdowns would be legendary.

I dunno.. became fairly apparent he spends most of his time dicking around these days or maybe barking an order or two when he gets a hankerin' about something like how he shuttered Tesla's entire supercharger team randomly.

Yeah the whole neoreactionary with white nationalist sympathies thing might be an issue though...

You gotta remember guys like Peter Thiel and Musk that grew up in South Africa, they're not "conservatives" in the American sense, they has parents that ran mining businesses that were pretty close to slave operations and lived in societies built entirely on white supremacy. Musk's maternal grandparents were literal Nazi party members from Canada. He's a bad dude who cosplayed a good dude effectively for long enough to achieve the kind of financial success where he could go mask off.

You've literally created your own Elon supervillain original headcanon and it's pretty amazing

Like literally nothing you claim here is actually true but it's pretty cool stuff that people have made up

Think it would be difficult to just jump into the game developer space. But musk really has never failed in his adventures. Dude averages a new billion dollar company every 5 years.

I am in. Just want to see AI taking over these shitty western devs we are surrounded with.

Can’t wait to see their face when they are fired.

On the plus side, if AI help to have a better NPC dialogue and faster development, then yes please I am in 100%. 5 years to make a game is too long .

Agreed, at the very least it'll still be way better and less nasty than all the woke garbage that plagues gaming. And I bet A.I games will have less flops too compared to woke games with how many of the woke trash that flopped throughout this whole year already.

And I can see it being very useful to speed up the game development too especially for games like Elder Scrolls VI, GTA VI, Fallout 5, Witcher 4 types of gigantic games. The way I see them doing it is most of the generic NPCs will be A.I made while the more important NPCs and side characters will still be hardcrafted by humans to make them stand out more and be more unique.

Watching or reading anything bout Elon. It like reading or watching some kinda sport star. Ppl on his team love him. Ppl that are not, hates him. Really don’t understand why he so much hated or hell even love.

Think about this:

When personal computers first emerged, naysayers dismissed them as impractical or niche. They simply couldn't see how these things revolutionize industries.

The same skepticism surrounded the internet, smartphones, and countless other technologies.

I mean everyone remembers Steve Balmer's interview on the first iPhone, right? "It doesn't even have a keyboard lulz!"

LLMs already replaced Google search for pretty much anyone I know.

Acting as if AI is just a pipe dream is complete lunacy.

And in the context of gaming, Al has the potential to create more dynamic, personalized, and immersive experiences than ever before.

Some people might not yet grasp the magnitude of what an Al-powered game studio could achieve.

But the long-term impact of Al in gaming (and beyond) is likely to be far greater than most people anticipate.

Not sure what Musk's gaming career 30 years ago has to do with his modern day ventures

He helped make video games 30 years ago when he was in his early 20s. And according to articles, he wasnt involved much and did work at night as he had a day job. He also made a basic game in 1984 at age 12, released the code to a magazine for $500.

The bar is so, so low for stuff like writing, dialog, and character design.

Look at Veilguard. AI would be an upgrade.
Agreed.

To me, detailed graphics, gameplay etc... are the things only game programmers and artists can do.

Anything to do with all the shitty script and dialogue I think the average person could totally do. Think of it like social media. Everyday people using YT or Twitter to interact with viewers has low or zero budget production values. Most people just do some content from their own home without any additional costs except maybe buying a quality mic. Nobody is going to contend with a company with millions of dollars and professional gear who can do lavish production values.

But what everyday people can totally beat paid pros at is simply personality, story and entertaining discussion. Most plot and dialogue in gaming is junk. At least over the decades, the voice acting is better as they put more budget into it. It used to be so bad it sounded like they didnt even hire many actors. Or they hired bad ones. Or they just did the voices themselves. But the actual text is usually still terrible like that's never changed since the 90s when games got bigger and could have tons of script.

All the people ripping this might want to keep this in mind. He’s the most successful and influential person on the planet and betting against him is probably the dumbest thing you can do.
I see Musk fucking around with the industry too. In 5 years, after his game company makes some AI stuff he'll release the code to the net with some easy to use UI where it gives gamers a chance to make their own game.

The status quo of the gaming industry is a abysmal.

There's a handful of studios that still deliver amazing experiences. Larian and From Software immediately come to my mind.

But other than that, devs of today are massive pricks without any talent whatsovere who's only mission is to force their political bullshit on others.

Studios are completely disconnected from their target audience. They scam us with fake reviews and bot armys. And if they face criticism, they gaslight their own customers with their corporate shills.

Sorry, but I can't see how an excentric billionaire hypernerd who tops D4 leaderboards and cosplays as Fullmetal is a downgrade for the gaming industry as a whole.

We need more disruption.

A good thing too is that Musk has tons of money. I dont see him as the type of guy who wants to make a shit product and then bail after a couple years. He'll try to make a quality product right from day one and improve it over time.

A lot of other companies make junk and the studio disappears fast. Half the time it's so bad it seems they werent even that serious making a good game, but some studio heads got offered a bunch of money, they took the deal and churned out garbage years later.

If Musk with all his money can make some good games and stick around, it might weed out a lot more junk content makers or companies making status quo games. So it'll force the remaining game makers to perk up and improve.

No different than EV cars. EV cars have been around a long time. But Tesla really got the category going making it the priority. In the past, the car companies doing EV looked like they barely gave a shit about it like it's a shitty side project with shitty looking EV cars. Now, every car maker takes it seriously.

Yes, that's a valid point.

People called EV a pipe dream. Musk got that shit going.

Tesla became so dominant in their category that Germany kicked them out of EV promotion to protect their domestic brands.

So he built a Tesla manufacturing plant in Germany. But ironically, environmentalists (!) sabotaged everything because of the location where he built it.

What was happening?

Environmentalists and Musk should have the same goal, right? EVs are good for the climate, that's what they told us.

But there simply wasn't enough political overlap (Musk supports conservatives). And people just did what their bubble told them to do.

It's laughably stupid if you ask me.

If AI can reduce the dev cycle time, create more meaningful and rapid feedback loops while reducing this design by committee bullshit to enable the real key visionaries of each game project creative and technical control then I am ALL IN BABY. Hopefully these are the types of goals Musk's studio aspires to when delivering their own game.

Taking a studio pipeline, engine or tools to market, like Tesla did, and enabling the industry to benefit is nothing but a good thing(s); irrespective of Musk's actual game. I'll check it out anyhow.
