NateTheHate: Bethesda is planning to announce the Oblivion remake between March and April and release it before June of 2025

I'm 100% sure that if a remake of Oblivion does release, it will never have the same immersive and impressive vibe as the original.
Oblivion, to this day, still probably has the best NPC AI I have ever seen, and it's really important in this game, it really does change everything.

Yes, people like mocking the NPCs in oblivion, yes they tend to do random and hilarious things sometimes, but it makes the world feel soooo alive, it really feels like they take decisions on their own and are actually living and evolving in this world, no matter how goofy it might look sometimes. It was super immersive.

Oblivion was my first "next gen" game, just coming out of the ps2 for me, and it was my biggest "wow" moment ever. It almost felt like playing something online, because of how alive it felt.

Skyrim and Fallout are similar and very close (and I love them), but they still don't feel as alive as Oblivion. Oblivion had some many impredictable moments, it really was something.

If it's at least as good as Skyrim / New Vegas, then that would be cool, but I don't really believe in it, especially if the engine change to UE is true.

I’m actually really excited about this. I know Skyrim is the game everyone loves and that really blew up but, for me personally, Oblivion was so much better and had a vastly superior world. Hopefully they don’t screw this up.

So day 1 for this. Oblivion was the first game I picked up on PS3 and played it for hundreds of hours. I will be getting this on PS5 Pro, so hopefully they have enhancements in mind.

I both can and can't see an April release happening. It's a quiet month, but MS are also putting South of Midnight and Clair Obscur on Game Pass in April.

I just think the shortened cycle is to avoid too much hype because it’s not a full-on remake, it’s a light remaster that just let’s the game work easier on modern platforms. I’d love to be wrong but it just seems like the most realistic prospect. Oh well. I’ll still play it.
Yeah this. Not interested if its just a 4k texture pack and still running on the ancient Gamebryo…Urgh its still gonna have that godawful dialogue isnt it?

Oh 💯 % it will. For sure. I would actually say they can’t really get rid of it cause too many people would be upset. They can’t change the game too much cause it’s kind of like part of its identity is that dialogue style. 🤷‍♂️

It's honestly pretty awesome for those that don't have a Twitter/X account and don't care to.

I loved Oblivion, so I really hope this delivers and is true across the board.

I'm surprised nothing is being done with Morrowind.

I remember being greatly disappointed in Oblivion, because I expected it to improve on Morrowind, which was, at the time, my favorite game ever. Instead, it felt like a step backwards in many ways - less mystery, more handholding, drastically reduced environmental variety, rigid level scaling, repetitiveness of the gates, pointing your nose to objectives.

But that was 20 years ago. I enjoyed Skyrim, but I haven't had a good Elder Scrolls game since then, and I've lost faith in modern Bethesda. I will consider giving Oblivion a second run, if it's a substantial remake, not just a remaster. Maybe I'll appreciate it more now.

That seems weird to me. Why shadow drop or release quickly post announcement?

The only thing I can think of is that Remake has issues… and they don’t want scrutiny. But that would be extremely shortsighted.

I thought the rumors said it’s UE5?

Edit: If this brings up Oblivion into more modern Bethesda engine, that’s actually good as modders will be able to do a lot with it.

And yes, this would totally suck for Skyblivion.

That's somewhat common for Microsoft.
They like shadow drops for some reason. Doesn't mean the game has problems.
Hi-Fi Rush was announced and released at the same time. No "issues" with it.

Oblivion is the only Bethesda game I ever liked, though I'm not sure if that was because I was a kid back then. Really want to see how a UE5 remake looks like.

This is a similar situation to how Resident Evil 4's remake was announced right when the lads doing the RE4HD project were finally finishing up, just kind of takes the wind out of sails for some very impressive work. That being said, RE4 Remake ended up vastly inferior to the original so the RE4HD boys still managed to create the definite RE4 version on their own, so incredibly impressive. This? I don't even know how much I believe it. Is a lot of the systemic stuff that the Creation engine does, the values that are maintained indefinitely and what not, is that stuff even possible with UE? I mean, I'm into giving Oblivion another shot to see if it grabs me like Skyrim immediately did, so I'd definitely try an update, but I wonder if it will feel like a fundamentally different game, much like RE4 Remake did.

I am interested to see what they will do with this one. Depending on how this turns out, I might even get excited (whith extreme caution) for Elder Scrolls VI.

Oh, so your issue is with a game that hasn't been announced that we all know is coming, so there can't possibly be an all trans dev team for a game that "doesn't exist"....OOF

Ok, i'll edit my post and say that MAYBE it's true
For some reason you're willing to believe there will be an all-trans dev team for a game which doesn't officially exist yet because... you want an all-trans dev team?

And that's ok if you want there to be. sloppyjoe_gamer sloppyjoe_gamer , NeoGAFs resident trans champion! I hope your wishes come true :lollipop_baby_angel:

Apparently you cant read for shit.....why would i put #NONBUYNARY in my post if i wanted an all trans dev team?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Potential #NONBUYNARY here......we'll be able to tell once we see female character faces in the game once it's announced:
Is it a lie? Im just putting it out there for everyones info.....if it turns out to be BS, so be it.

There's no way this is just coming out of nowhere in less than a month :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Yeah I'm 90% sure it's not real at this point. This game is way too big compared to just smaller scale remakes. It'll probably take less work remaking Silent Hill 1, Metal Gear Solid 1, System Shock 2, Resident Evil 0, and Dead Space 2 combined than remaking Oblivion. Not only is there a bunch of cities, towns, and npcs but quests, the factions, all the NPCs with a advance route as they aren't just spawn in generic npcs. Plus dungeons, caves, settlements, forts, etc. And the massive navamesh work to ensure all these complex enemy and npcs functions correctly. So if it were real, we would have gotten official teasers and stuff way before release.

Any remake/remaster needs to include Shivering Isles. Better than the main game in some aspects
Would be wishful thinking but I doubt it'll be included as the base game is already so large. That's even assuming this whole remake is true in the first place which it most likely isn't.

Not even just that. This is fucking Oblivion we're talking about. It's a Bethesda megaton. When this game released on the 360 it basically set the standard for console graphics back then. I fucking bought the system for this game. It was a monumental release.

Something like that isn't just going to conveniently drop in peoples' laps like some random bird turd. All casual like it's nothing. And if you believe that it will, you're probably a retarded person.

They better rebuild the levelling system and get rid of the level scaling. And the dungeons need their diversity improved a lot. They get very generic to explore.
