The point is that they aren’t insiders. Who the hell is this tommy fisher fellow ? Your insider osirisblack has been wrong in like everything he has ever predicted. Hell even now he was, up until recently, pitting the xsx slightly BELOW 12 TF (when it was obvious that it would be at least 12 TF, what was he saying 11.4, 11.6, whatever)just to try and differentiate his estimate compared to everyone else . Now things changed and the XSX is slightly more powerful than the ps5 according to him, but when the next devkits arrive maybe the ps5 will be more powerful and so on and so on.

Bottom line, forget the insiders, hell forget the AMD leaks and try to observe each company’s messaging thus far, objectively. It is not difficult to understand what is going on, just like it wasn’t difficult before the ps4 and Xbox one launched.

I somewhat agree with this statement. Ps5 is gonna have a killer launch lineup because this year's 1st party titles are still gonna be relatively fresh once the ps5 releases.

Question is though whether or not Sony is going to follow MS' lead and let you upgrade the ps4 games for free that you just bought a few months prior.

This is not a standard Sony business practice so if it does happen you may even have all the positive buzz MS is generating to thank for a pivot like this.

Personally I am still getting ps4 TLOU2 and Ghosts before ps5 drops.

If Sony does put its middle finger in our faces and make us buy the games twice I will most likely at that point say fuck it amd wait a bit to buy a ps5 and get the "enhanced" versions of the games later on down the road when they're on sale.

there is no way Microsoft was "trying" to beat 10.7TF with the GPU they have. they will have a wide enough GPU that even a low clock of 1.5ghz would have them around 10.7TF, so that is a very VERY weird phrasing to say the least.
the chip they are using, which was in development for years and basically had finished target specs for ages has no issue reaching above 10.7TF.

so I also say that's bullshit and vague on purpose.

So if the PS5 BoM is around $450 and the Xbox SeX BoM is around $480 and the PS5 is said to have a more expensive cooling solution, how does the PS5 manage to have more TF? What crucial info am I missing here?

BoM estimates were just that, estimates. Based on what exactly we don't know. They are going to have a fair bit a error in there though. The "more expensive" cooling solution was in relation to what Sony normally uses and estimated to be a few $. I'd assume MS also has a similarly "expensive" cooling system too. We still don't know everything about each machine or crucial details about how they have achieved the performance they have. Even estimates when they have the machine to tear down isn't a precise figure. Lots of unknowns. So don't read too much into those figures. The $450 figure was also a different source to the $480 figure - so more errors in terms of comparison creeping in there.

Yeah he was deffo wrong, but 12tf RDNA isn’t almost as powerful as a 2080ti. That runs at like 15-16tf.

A 12TF RDNA2 GPU should perform like a 14.5-15 TF GCN GPU though. So that's SUPER close to a 2080ti.

when klee said double digits in 12 august, all xbox fans hiding behind their team thermals moniker jumped down his throats. he went out of his way to describe the actual conversations he had with his source who confirmed that both consoles were double digits, were more powerful than the navi 5700xt and had more tflops. when harrassed time and time again by team thermals who refused to go above 10 and asked if it was 10.1 or 10.2, he said no, higher.

one thing this gen has showed me is how toxic some fanbases can be. here is a guy who was proven right in the end, and yet the harrassment he received has continued. like wtf more do you have to do? Clock changes are easier than cu count changes and the like, which require a complete redo. Yes it’s tricky because it puts other areas out (as I said earlier in another post) but much easier. That wouldn’t take a year, it can be done with a quick enough turn around.
