he probably mean tech wise and the artistic looks of it...other aspect such as higher resolution/quality textures etc like Alita Battle Angle is uncomparable though..those prerendered cgi rendered use expensive, huge raw power workstation compared to console that running only 8gb of vram on realtime....he probably mean cgi like toy story 1-2 ...cgi on live action film nowdays is on different level though

I watch anime so I know about my hero academia and one punch. I watch berserk, seven deadly sins, etc. I grew up on legend of the over fiend, vampire hunter D, fist of North star, etc. I'm an older anime head.

I don’t think it’s anywhere close that at all, I’d say maybe a few million as they’re renting (paying) space in an already rented out location! I would say about $5 mill tops for everything including staff and room and board!

i just don’t see E3 raking in $100’s of millions like that every year and all of a sudden people are dropping out left and right it seems

I could've sworn some people said a full show for Sony/MS E3 costs around 30-60M (I don't remember which because my memory is terrible lol). I thought that was insanely high for what it is. Then again, isn't it 5M for 30 seconds ad during the Superbowl? (the instant reach of that is more though).
Either way, spend that shit elsewhere.

I think the SAD edition didn't sell well until it was €99. Why is that the same size as the S edition but missing the disc drive?

I was driving I’m stuck in traffic now (I hate it and love it here) honestly this is the first I’ve heard of it. I don’t have anything to say on the subject several people that I am dealing with have never said anything of the sort. Not saying it doesn’t exist but if it does it’s not something people are talking about casually.

Because contrary to the belief that MS has deep pockets and are willing to lose hundreds of dollars, they’re not. They priced the SAD for profit at $250. And where was it at 99? It was $150 in USA on Black Friday.

We have to wonder, I think the realistic use case will still be 4k 60fps (even 1080p for some people)... with some Ray Tracing sprinkled in for good measure, the one X is not half bad at 4k right now - without the ray tracing or 60fps obviously - it runs console games at 4k at their intended fps target often enough.

So what would an 18tf console do more? I guess improved raytracing performance? I mean seriously, how complex must the shader pipeline be to make a 2080ti faint? Assuming you have a more efficient RT technology on hand, and the usual tricks that consoles use (VBR/variable resolution/fixed hardware development).

It almost scares me to think about it when I see what Sony studios do with the base PS4.

I really cringe at the thought that consoles may now be released like cell phones. You got high end, then mid tier. Then in 4 years we will see a mid refresh PS5Pro+ and XsX Pro+

Man, this rumor takes me back to 1980s. Reminds me of the USA vs. USSR during the Cold War days. The US coming up with new outlandish war tech (star wars, stealth, etc) with the intention of forcing the USSR to up their military budget to try to keep up. Of course, in the end, the Soviets could not and eventually it lead to the fall of the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc. Is this analogy a bad one? Is Microsoft trying ot force Sonys' hand into making some really tuff and bad business decisions? These rumor of late seem weird and a little off. Time will tell.

This part bothers me, particularly with PS5. Because realistically what could they offer that's "substantial" over a 9TF PS5 (if it's even that; I'm still hoping it's more around 10.4 - 11TF) that doesn't cost over $1000? If they release a PS5 Pro at launch with PS5 to compete against XSX, we're only looking at an extra 3TF...mayyybe 4TF....advantage. Or 25% - 33% extra power.

But now that brings up all the people who were claiming that a 1 or even 2TF differential between XSX and PS5 would be "practically insignificant". There were definitely people saying that with 12TF XSX/ 11TF PS5 (or even 10TF PS5) scenarios a few days ago. Would they suddenly think a 13TF PS5 Pro is a "significant" boost over a 12TF XSX when, with the reverse, even a 2TF advantage in favor of XSX was being cited as "ultimately not mattering"?

Even taking XSX out of the picture, if you look at the percentages a 9TF PS5 and 12/13TF PS5 Pro looks way worst of a base/pro pairing than 1.84TF PS4 and 4.2TF PS4 Pro. PS4 Pro was a legitimate mid-gen bump, an almost 230% increase over base PS4. PS5 Pro wouldn't come anywhere near that if it's "only" 25% or 33% over a base PS5.

I definitely believe you that they are planning a PS5 Pro. But I think them releasing it same time as PS5 would be a giant mistake. They'd be looking at a $1,000+ console in order to provide a big enough boost over base PS5 compared to what PS4 Pro did for PS4. Plus, I wonder how people would feel knowing that 1st party games would still have to be made for the base PS5 model. I mean, again, there were definitely people talking about XSX being held back by Lockhart (and still are), even after engine and code scalability was mentioned. By that logic wouldn't PS5 Pro be held back by base PS5, or does the engine and code scalability that's platform-agnostic suddenly come into play for Sony but not Microsoft? (posing those questions more to the people who were saying that stuff, not you VFXVeteran VFXVeteran I don't remember you ever saying that crazy stuff xD)

I’d actually be okay with this if Sony and MS made their consoles upgradeable from the get go

I shouldn’t need to pay for a new cpu, power supply, and RAM when the major difference is the GPU

Just let me upgrade the GPU when the node shrink occurs
