I worked there for many years, so I'll attempt to answer this. The "call list" is simply a list of names and phone numbers to call when pre-orders are available or imminent.

No allocation of pre-order is dedicated to that call list--if they can reserve 100, it'll be a 100 first come first serve. The likelihood is GameStop or other major retailers will known in advance when the SKU will go live, so they'll go down that list just before it happens.

Say..Sony announces everything on...June 10th, example. They'll get the go ahead to call the names on that list the night prior, so you'll be fighting like hell to beat them all.

But favorites get played, sometimes slots get "held" for preferred customers or employees(yes, it happens) and what Osiris is saying is with hype for PS5 and Xbox at max, you better get your ass up there when they unlock the SKU or you'll be on the outside looking in, especially if there are shortages.

That was way before the PS4 Pro released, it was gonna have a better CPU and GPU for $500, or just a better GPU for $400 (which this was what Sony took).

And you gotta be kidding me, EVEN if he was wrong with this one little detail (which he wasn't), he is the 1st one who revealed the PS4 Pro (formerly called NEO) with many details being very correct, stop being stupid......cute ♥😊

I don't remember if he was or not, but he was the first one I remember talking about the Pro. And yeah he gave 2 prices, one for $399 and one for $499.

Ok, gotcha.

Thanks for clearing that up. Never have gotten a call from GS regarding a call list and I have pre-ordered all my consoles from them.

The weird thing is that the playstation controller has got a bit fatter and the Xbox controller has slimmed down.

In a few generations they will likely be the same shape just with moved sticks 🤣

Check post history in regards to predictions. I've been team 10-12tf for both at $499 unless Sony wanted $399 since DAY 1. I guess I'm an "insider". Lol.

Both machines will be very close. I've said this many times. Try not to lie like insiders.

Hmmm.. So I just called my local GameStop as I was a bit worried about this "call list" detail. I'm sure it can vary by state or even location but the guy there (guy I usually talk to and who seems to know his stuff, FWIW) said that that apparently is against some sort of regulation or something here, so GameStop decided to use that online sign-up instead. I pressed him on it that I wanted to make sure I got allocated a unit but he was firm in saying they had no such 'pre-sign up, sign up' other than what's online. Just recommended I have at least $100 for a deposit when pre-orders are available, etc., etc. So we shall see. I'll probably ask someone else again later, just to make sure. I DEFINITELY want to be able to get ahold of a PS5 day one. We'll see.
