MS thought they would be slick after they initially settled and bought 10% stake in Immersion and stipulated getting a piece of that Sony punishment pie. A keen addition that people also forgot was Immersion suddenly wanting a number of PS2's destroyed after MS joined in. But after Immersion won, they only got $91 million and a new agreement with Sony, which caused "temper tantrum MS" to sue Immersion in retaliation and practically drained them of $20 million.

Most insiders on forums know nothing IMO, if they were CURRENTLY working on games they would be under NDA and not be on forums.
So most stuff is people predicting ps5 will be faster (Duh 2.23 Ghz and SSD) or XSX will be slighly more powerful (12 TF Duh), its hardly a reach is it. Anyone can predict more shows in August from both console makers.
And even Capcom said they were dropping current gen for RE8 due to dev difficulties - then someone posts about dev difficulties with vague ref to ps5 - duh ? People just stabbing in the dark with probabiity

This could be it. Capcom was trying to make RE8 work on PS4 but they had problems getting 60 FPS there and someone heard about it not hitting it on Playstation and, bam, we have a rumour. This would explain 1080p being mentioned. Gossips usually lose details in the "copying" process.
Nevertheless, I just wanted to drop my 3 cents on the engine talk. We've just heard that HZD on PC is struggling because it was ported from PS4 where Guerilla used a lot of custom GPGPU code which cannot run well on PC. This also works the other way. If you have a multiplatform engine (meaning a PC engine most of the time) and you just port it to different platforms, initially you have very bad performance.
One game I was involved in development of, and it was early days of PS3, had its engine ported from PC. Without any changes, it ran at 3 FPS. The main engine programmer (and also head of the studio, it was indie) got a shock because the future of his project was at stake. Having hired a very skilled guy to help him, they rewrote the engine for PS3's SPUs and at release the game got the required 30 FPS.
However, just judging by PS5 specs alone, I don't believe any engine would struggle getting to 60 FPS at 1080p. It's a ridiculous claim for a 10 TF machine with enough bandwidth and, most of all, 8 times faster CPU than PS4! And even if this happened a few months ago, it'd be fixed by now, least for the release. I've heard many times about games struggling technically at some point and then Sony helping those devs either by just expertise or even sending people over to fix stuff. A high profile game like RE8 would get such help for sure. So, even if the rumour is accurate, it won't matter when we see the game running.

I've also just finished the game but I'm not that happy with it. It's a nice open world but it has a very generic story which didn't catch my attention at all. Dialogues are simple and uninspired, most of the time I had an urge to skip them, but you can't. Gameplay wise it was good, exploration was enjoyable, views breathtaking... But it's just a fun game, nothing more. I wouldn't call it my GOTY, not even the best SP game I've played (still Infamous 2).
I can't even platinum it because at least two of trophies glitched while getting them, story related so no way to get them again. It's not the quality I expect from Sony first-party, shame. Anyway, this generation is over. I'll play some backlog and finish some games but now it's time for new generation!
