If it's a fake it's one of the best looking faked that I've seen to date.
Also some additional things that I've noticed. The plus seems to be a round one like this.
So this video wasn't recorded in the US that's for sure. Probably europe is my guess. Also if you look carefully you see a game case for an Activision game that's rated 18 and over. No idea what it could be though.
Edit: Watching the video a few more times I noticed the game case in it is white. Still don't have a clue to what it is.

I think this is why Sony is banking on their 1st party studios. They know PC has and will always have the superior specs but Sony has talented devs who know how to optimize the hardware and seem to get exponentially better at doing so for each new game. So Sony decided to invest on the factors that matter in game development such as the SSD storage solution. I am excited to see what the rest of Sony's first party games will look.

It looks like Nvidia is playing fast and loose with their metrics. On top of that, the decompression isn't very useful without DirectStorage which won't be out till probably late 2021, early 2022. If I were a PC user, I would wait to buy a card until next year when the tech is actually ready to be used. This doesn't seem to come even close to PS5's solution, but with the excess power of the GPU in the PC space, I can see this being a good direction to go because I don't see a dedicated hardware solution to IO taking off in the PC space.

Well he does say the performance hit is minuscule, so there should be plenty of GPU remaining to push pixels.
However, what may be an issue is that the compressed data needs to be put into vram and then decompressed back into vram. Double handling with significant latency and bandwidth overheads compared to hardware decompressors on console delivering decompressed data straight into unified ram. .

A lot of ports going to be shaky over there in 2-4/mid gen years. Many tried to warn the PC begging race. They didn't want to listen they went full Linus tech retard.Tim Sweeney hinted it.The dev at Ready at dawn hinted. But PC guys didn't want to listen. Ironically PC guys are like xbox guys stuck with 2013 mentality. PS5 Is a different paradigm it is not following the current standards. It's built to fully extract performance out of its connected parts. PC fanboys really have been taking L's from SSD,I/O. Thinking the tech is 1 for 1 the same. It just is not. There's heavy customisation from Sony. Consoles & PC's are not the same.
PS5 is a divergence that hits at different levels. It really is new & revolutionary box. People cant see it yet , it will hit eventually. PS5 has layers but right now the super low latency being ignored. Hate to say it. But their's probably more disappoint coming boss. Probably with the PS5 tear down which may reveal 3D stacking.
Agreed. There's no software thats going to to replicate the PS5 I/O. MS most likely got wrecked & are now prepping for a possible future use. And banking on the next hardware.They are playing catch up. PS5 really is something else.
5-7 maybe. PC is always going to have latency issues.Too many different parts. Mother board standard has to change. All OEMS have to agree. It's a hard pitch to change standard just to appease gamers. An audience which isn't OEMS primary business or a large portion of their revenue. Jack of all trades master of none.

The PS5 having RDNA 3 features within the APU is still in the realm of rumours and yet to be confirmed, in fact I don't think we'll find out till RDNA 3 gets revealed/announced, which is next year. I don't expect Sony in their console breakdown to simple say "hey this feature was taken from the RDNA 3 GPU's" lolIf the Geometry Engine and Tempest Engine + custom RT appear in RDNA 3 cards of the future, then wouldn't Sony have done a deal to secure PS5 components cheaper... Thus no need to price the PS5 at $600.
Also aren't Sony forever haunted by the PS3 $600 price point.
If true, then it would depend on the terms of the contract and agreements with regards to the collaboration, Sony and AMD seem to have a strong relationship so whatever they did come to agree upon would have been easy for both i am guessing. As for cheaper parts thanks to Sony's contribution, then yeah I could see something like that happening, PC fans might be reluctant to admit but AMD's technological innovations are somewhat dependant on their collaborations with Sony and Microsoft.

Unfortunately Sony has logistical and business model problems to aggressively compete with MS.
Unless Sony is willing to get into a price war with Microsoft and loose billions in the process with no guarantee of success. Then it's unlikely Sony will be serious competition in the Subscription and Cloud gaming market.
Game Pass has a lot more mindshare and has a lot more entry points into the service. So if Sony were to compete they will need to try to follow MS in the same steps.

I feel that dispite what everybody want to make us beleave gamepass does NOT have a lot more mindshare. At least not here in the neteherlands. nobody has it or wants it because of the lackluster games ms is pushing out the last couple of years. Plus i really dont need to buy an xbox to play gamepass. and now with all those GPU's coming in cheaper and better than before xbsx cannot play the powerhouse card anymore. PS5 is not much weaker and will play most games equal so no difference there.
I would encourage Sony to try and roll out psnow further and try to make more "free" subscribers like microsoft did. i would really like a 29,99 euro/year sub for simple online play on ps5, a 59,99/year online + psnow combo and a premium 69,99/year version where you get the online, psplus discounts and psnow.

I'll be waiting for PS5 side, and actually they only rated X900H as (Ready for PS5), Z8H has been excluded from that branding although it's the much more expensive and 8K. If PS5 announces 48Gbps support that'll exclude those two mentioned TV's and leave you with Sony X900H and LG C9.

The PR slide looked fast though, 14 GBs , it always smelled of bull and requires MS to get their direct storage working
Looks like all GPU cards could get patched to do the decompression, the rest is up to Microsoft.

PS5 streams compressed data from the SSD to its RAM, and then decompresses it back into RAM. At least that’s what the Sony storage patent says, anyway.

Yes. Retail are losing their minds just like us. The consoles are virtually in distribution centres and I bet they don't have allocations yet never mind pricing.
Saying that though €699 is ludicrous and I don't know why they bother with such placeholders (to force MS/Sony's hand to give price I guess?) but I have looked at upgrading my PC with a new Mobo/Ryzen 5 3600 CPU/16GB RAM/3070FE for about £775 to give an idea how silly €699 for a console is.

It'll just mean the GPUs won't have max power to hit the highest resolutions and frame rates, if the shaders/tensor cores are also doing I/O and DLSS and memory compression and the RT cores are doing RT.
No GPU can do everything all at max without any trade offs. Thats why the PS5 has dedicated I/O silicon, or why the iPhone chips have accelerators for just about every separate thing the phone can do. Lets the CPU/GPU go all out on fewer tasks.
