I don't know. Looks pretty real to me. Of course, it's amazing how they can fake, but.. You know there HAVE to be finished PS5's out there since the thing started manufacturing in June. So it certainly COULD be real.

guys come on its just one of the billion AR PS5 videos out there, nothing to see here
I think this is why Sony is banking on their 1st party studios. They know PC has and will always have the superior specs but Sony has talented devs who know how to optimize the hardware and seem to get exponentially better at doing so for each new game. So Sony decided to invest on the factors that matter in game development such as the SSD storage solution. I am excited to see what the rest of Sony's first party games will look.“upcoming consoles due to efficiency should perform around 3070 line”
“10 gig on the 3080 is likely insufficient for a 4k card”
“Sweet spot is the 3070 for gaming setups”
“Direct storage needs to be implemented on a case by case basis when available, unlike consoles where it’s an integral part of the system. Consoles will get games that are not possible on PC for a while yet“
Isn't on Monday when that PlayStation documentary debuts?I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they just announce it next Monday and have the show on Wednesday or Thursday next week at this point.

I hope so, even if there is no event next week I expect to hear some news. I mean, it's their 25th anniversay they must have something important to announce.Think they’ll slip the date into it?

I don't think so, but considering this and the 25th anniversary in the same week, plus all the teasing these days, there's definitely something in the air.Think they’ll slip the date into it?
It's expandable and we know that since March.Fellas, whats the chances of this ssd in ps5 being upgradable ?

Ryan Smith confirming what I had stated earlier: RTXIO uses software running on the GPU to do the decompression (within the Streaming Multiprocessor). There isn't dedicated HW decompression like PS5 and XSX.
Damn... Thats bad.
I am disappointed now and somewhat worried.
It seems that PC wont follow PS5 revolutionizing mechanism, wich is bad for the industry.

Well he does say the performance hit is minuscule, so there should be plenty of GPU remaining to push pixels.Damn... Thats bad.

It looks like Nvidia is playing fast and loose with their metrics. On top of that, the decompression isn't very useful without DirectStorage which won't be out till probably late 2021, early 2022. If I were a PC user, I would wait to buy a card until next year when the tech is actually ready to be used. This doesn't seem to come even close to PS5's solution, but with the excess power of the GPU in the PC space, I can see this being a good direction to go because I don't see a dedicated hardware solution to IO taking off in the PC space.
Theyll have 5 to 7 years to catch up
So not good like us hoped.
The PS5 having RDNA 3 features within the APU is still in the realm of rumours and yet to be confirmed, in fact I don't think we'll find out till RDNA 3 gets revealed/announced, which is next year. I don't expect Sony in their console breakdown to simple say "hey this feature was taken from the RDNA 3 GPU's" lolIf the Geometry Engine and Tempest Engine + custom RT appear in RDNA 3 cards of the future, then wouldn't Sony have done a deal to secure PS5 components cheaper... Thus no need to price the PS5 at $600.
Also aren't Sony forever haunted by the PS3 $600 price point.![]()
David Attenborough voice:
It seems the big difference is first party day one and forever on the x side, but Sony could do that too if they wanted with the snap of their fingers and voila GamePass is over.
i feel you man... it's like we live together as woman, we get the same cycle...Because of the time zone I’m in (Aust) and how the news cycle is, every evening I start getting excited for news to drop after I go to sleep. I go to bed with a bit of hope, I wake up not expecting anything, I check my phone and get disappointed. I go to work and then the cycle repeats.
Seen it before, don't buy it. It's like saying an 8-bit video doesn't need an 10-bit source. Tell that to any video maker and he'll laugh his ass out. And those console will last for 6-8 years, and 2021 will see the first 12-bit panels from Samsung QNED. So, it's already outdated.
Is it major? No, but it's future proofing and will be clearer the further we go to the future. Also 12-bit material to 10-bit is always better than 10-bit to 10-bit.
Not sure what's going on, but it seems only LG CX and XSX so far, other HDMI 2.1 seem to be normal. New 12-panel tv's are coming next year and this is already sounds as stupid as not including wifi6 in XSX.
I feel that dispite what everybody want to make us beleave gamepass does NOT have a lot more mindshare. At least not here in the neteherlands. nobody has it or wants it because of the lackluster games ms is pushing out the last couple of years. Plus i really dont need to buy an xbox to play gamepass. and now with all those GPU's coming in cheaper and better than before xbsx cannot play the powerhouse card anymore. PS5 is not much weaker and will play most games equal so no difference there.Game Pass has a lot more mindshare and has a lot more entry points into the service. So if Sony were to compete they will need to try to follow MS in the same steps.
65%, never will bother to created a game for 35%, considering other cost. you would never get back that investment, you would go a lot of millions under.

Oh, no. This was me. I am Bird Cerny’s creator. Not totally sure I should admit that, hahaha.
Well he does say the performance hit is minuscule, so there should be plenty of GPU remaining to push pixels.
However, what may be an issue is that the compressed data needs to be put into vram and then decompressed back into vram. Double handling with significant latency and bandwidth overheads compared to hardware decompressors on console delivering decompressed data straight into unified ram. .

Waiting tell October will be hard but at least some fake insiders got outed with that Sept 9th date. Now let see if people will continue to stupidly quote them.

It'll just mean the GPUs won't have max power to hit the highest resolutions and frame rates, if the shaders/tensor cores are also doing I/O and DLSS and memory compression and the RT cores are doing RT.Seems fine to me. Those Ampere cards have the GPU power to spare, Turing too.
Incorrect, the i/o block decompresses in real-timePS5 streams compressed data from the SSD to its RAM, and then decompresses it back into RAM. At least that’s what the Sony storage patent says, anyway.
