It might have been the case at the price announcement, but then during the whole generation, it was the games. It still is. Plus you don't get 110 million units sold just because "early adopters", we're talking about 7 years of quality releases.

Microsoft had more issues than just price back then. Focus on tv, poor messaging on game trade in, less power for more money. Indeed MS messaging around this gen can be arguably considered even worse then during Xbox one. That’s all part of building mindshare. If price was the only factor, Apple would be dead, Coke would sell less than no name brand cola, etc.

The One S was cheaper than PS4 for so long now but Regular Joe still didn't go for it. So this isn't a guarantee.

Until Microsoft officially unveils the price, sony will not respond with a price to the public. Sony is not that dumb. If it comes down to it, if ms does not officially reveal it bay certain date, I'm sure sony has a deadline window before the launch that they have to lock a price down. Also, you guys clearly love this back and forth. XB already removed things like Netflix (and possibly Free2Play games?) from behind the GOLD Paywall as part of their XB180' turn-around, when PS4 started spanking their ass.
