Seems likely that playstation will be ahead on TF but not on performance .. but that will depend on the game. (Annoying everyone and ensuring the fanboys wars will last years).

I'm sure people have actually been saying the opposite. Xbox has higher tf but ps5 has rest performance /is faster.

Which makes sense as higher clockspeeds have a bigger impact on performance than higher overall compute performance.

But the higher compute will yield better raytracing.

Where have you been? Almost every single leak has been saying ps5 has more tflops, better GPU, etc. Where does this "I'm sure" come from? We've all been here daily as the leaks drop.
Also don't be surprised when ps5 has the better Ray Tracing solution.

I honestly have no issue with him doing this. He said he talked to the mods which makes it more likely he does have the specs. Yes, it’s annoying that he won’t share them, but if he genuinely believes it could put his source in harm’s way, then I’m fine with him not sharing it. Sorry I don't know who they are. I'm not a GAF old-timer. If they are vetted/verified I'd definitely be inclined to trust what they say over all the unverified people claiming to have insider info, but VFXVeteran is the only verified user I've personally seen posting and that's mostly been pertaining to VFX - no surprise there, right.

They also created the xbox which was better than the playstation 2, the xbox 360 which was at least as good as the playstation 3 and the xbox one x which is better than the playstation pro.

I think as far as PS5 is concerned that sound from cooling won’t be anywhere near as big of an issue as in the past even if it is loud. This is mainly because of 3d binearal audio will make headphones king. This was even stated by Cerney in that old wired interview. I have a god tier surround sound system hooked to my PS4 and it doesn’t even come close to that next gen sounding 3d audio from my cheap Windows VR set on PC.

As far as SSD speeds go and because of the extra hardware/software stack that’s going on I don’t think the SSD needs to be a 5gbs over a 2gbs version to get those results. IMO you could have the 2gbs drive way out perform the 5gbs drive if you could get the 2gbs drive to perform in all needed tasks at the 2gbs speed. It’s kind of like how on PC where the true to life differences of a nvme drive and a standard ssd drive aren’t a drastic difference but if they performed at there stated speeds at all tasks and not just specific ones there would indeed be a drastic difference.

I think a key thing we have to remember, and is probably the reason Phil Spencer isn't committing to stating 12TF outright, is that 12TF is a target.

MS aim at minimum 12TF, but they will not reveal detailed specs till the end. If Sony will surprise them, then MS will OC their GPU a little more. There's no reason to give exact TF numbers now. Phil Spencer may look funny and tell jokes, but he is not stupid.
