Sorry, that's not how it works. Sony did this and MS did that. Right and wrong decisions taken. Stories and consequences made. They had the choice, they took the wrong one and they flopped. Now they learned (hopefully). So let's see what decisions each have taken for next gen will result in what and what new stories they'll create.

Hey Tommy, thanks for facing the flak for posting all this info. I have a question regarding this quote. You say the mentioned specs in the pastebin are "close enough but not that much". From what I can tell, the specs match quite closely what you yourself have given us.
Only differences seem to be 0.2GHz for the CPU on both and the PS5 RAM. Or is the RAM bit the key?

if you use 2GB chips that's 20GB .. you can't do 16GB with just 2GB chips
if you just want to use 2GB chips there to make 16GB that's 8 chips, 32bit data bus per chip = 256 bit bus

At this point it has to be PS5's secret sauce. Will have to wait to find out I guess.
In the meantime, I've been trying to research how much 16GB of GDDR6 could cost MS and/or Sony and I'm coming up at a far lower price than I've seen banded around the various next-gen console threads (>$100).

When a GCN GPU is touted as 5tflops, that is the maximum theoretical calculations that can be done. So when a new Navi card comes out that is also touted as 5tflops, but it is 25% more efficient and therefore puts out better graphics and fps, I'm guessing that while the old GCN GPU was 5tflops, it was only ever going to put out maybe 3.5-4tflops? So do we know what % of its rated tflops a particular card is capable of doing?

DemonCleaner chart shows 2.1GHz OC on first gen Navi will result in 100w penalty compared to 1.8GHz. I'm not saying sony cant surprise people with 400 TDP monster, but with current knowledge 2.1GHz is pretty much unrealistic scenario.
MS with 2 different consoles can build more expensive model just for enthusiasts, but why Sony would do the same with only one SKU?

Not too long IMO because, at least AMD, get cheap very quick.
Maybe the SSD and the joytick will be higher for very long time, but one year or two AMD apu will get cheap.

The kind of Memory and tech behind Solid State Drive definitely are the most mysterious things about PS5 that Sony puts a super special emphasis on them unlike the GPU and CPU which basically are the same as SeX. So presumably these tweaks and customization's are mainly to get the best out of the SSD? I'm also now thinking this has to be custom HBM but I worry about the cost of this and then the final console price.

But the bar is already too high for the Solid State Drive as some of us are hoping for ReRAM-based SSD. (Not saying it's their fault.)
To be fair though, I'd still be happy for a Nand Flash SSD. It's just that I fail to see how Sony can pull an advantage using nand chips. MS can source from the many Nand Flash SSD vendors (hardware and software) for that enterprise ultra-fast SSD to match whatever Sony is putting out. Unless they're unwilling to match Sony's Nand SSD.
