Pretty sure it is. Nintendo especially presents themselves as a kid friendly brand. Giving porn a pass hurts their public reputation and their brand.

Tumblr has been hit with these all year, but the veracity of nintendo actually pulling them is spotty at best, tumblr pussies out of legal matters so, anybody can claim to be nintendo and send an email to the staff and your artwork will get taken down.

The biggest tell is, Pokemon stuff (ie anthropomorphic pokemon furry artwork) has been the prime target, however all the supposed takedowns are flagged as "from nintendo" which doesn't make any sense, since The pokemon Company handles that IP, which means the claim comes from a fake source but tumblr chooses to not take risk and just take down the offending content.

It's an easy to abuse system.

It really is and it affects artists too. Their blogs can be taken down which is their way to show their work. This purge crap is a losing battle. People can draw whatever porn they want.
