"So you'd agree that Warrior is in the worst shape right now because not only are mace skills ass, but their effective HP is also terrible and the defensive options available to them to scale that are complete horseshit".

"Well, you're not wrong".

lol

As a newbie to the game and ARPG in general, I heard Warrior is broken and not to play that class.

I love the idea of a slow moving bulky character with heavy armor and swords and shields. I got my warrior up to level 6 and I love the gameplay so far.

Not sure if I should stop and play another class.

Warrior isn't broken. It just has some design issues. If you're having fun, keep on playing.

Using Witch, with some firewall, ball of lighting AOE elementals. The evil has finally been defeated. Probably hardest boss I ever fought. The third star blood thing from the sky while in the fog got me every time. I shudder at the act 2 and 3 bosses.
I play Monk but I found that boss to be the hardest in the Campaign.

If you want to make the game easier, I can suggest a cheap and easy Witch build that will get the job done. If you like the challenge and sense of accomplishment, then keep going on. I'd suggest to keep track of the NPC vendor's goods after each level up. You can find some gems there.

They are not mentioning the bug where you have to restart the game if you fail the act2 trials?
Wait for the full patch notes. I watched most of the chat, got bored when they started talking about security breaches but I don't think that was mentioned. Is it a widespread well known issue?

To be fair to them they've only been back in the office what? a week and a bit and they are changing/fixing a lot more than I thought they would.

I have a warrior and I am dual wielding 2 hand maces.

The biggest difference is finding a weapon with lots of +phys damage and %phys damage. I found one I am using and yoinked the other from the guild stash.

For mobs rolling slam with some of the explosion supports works great. For rares armour break + sunder pretty much deleted most and for bosses armour break + sunder until heavy stunned and then hammer of the gods is a good combo.

Is the character as fast as other alternatives, probably not but I am not in a race here and I am having fun.

OTOH if I had not found a good high damage weapon it would feel like absolute ass because for all the slow animations and attack times the damage would be pitiful. I think a better balance may be to tune down the damage on the weapons themselves but massively buff the extra weapon damage in the skills. Ultimately there will still be clear speed limits due to animation times so it still won't be a fully zoom zoom style. The other alternative is to keep damage where it is and massively buff warrior defenses so it can just shrug off incoming attacks as it powers up the bigger attack. Maybe give each slam skill a % damage reduction while animating or something so that you can feel like a brute.

There is definitely tuning to be done for warrior but I do really enjoy the way it plays. The hits look a feel really big and seeing a group of mobs get heavy stunned and then exploded from the 1-2 of rolling slam adds to that. Being able to bully bosses by heavy stunning them after a couple of armour broken sunders and then bringing down the big hammer on their heads really does make you feel super powerful. Things like bits of terrain getting in the way where it looks like you can use rolling slam to gap close is irritating so fixing that would be good. Maybe buff the overkill explosion radius and damage it does, maybe have an on overkill trigger gem that can cast slam skills if you overkill by enough.

Lots of ways to make it more powerful without just making the damage numbers bigger.

Was an interesting talk. Seems a bit they gave up on the "soulslike" idea....and game is back to its glorious zooming. (which I really like :messenger_winking_tongue: )
Are they really just going to abandon the slower more methodical combat in favour of the silly speed through pressing one button silliness of the first game? That's a huge loss if true.

I am also curious where they said that. Endgame does speed up but it sounded like the broken builds that zoom around would be nerfed to the ground on economy reset. I think slower methodical combat is still very much a focus, and even in current endgame it's much slower than LE or POE1.

I dont know yet if they are going to abandon it. But the fact that they seemed to have no problem at all (at least for the moment...nerfs are coming for sure with the next league) that people are already able to one shoot bosses and screenwide clearing maps....was a bit surprising for me.

And no, I dont think its a loss. Its what made POE1 great...and what most people always preferred imho. And it gives them a very good excuse to finally abandon POE1.

Watched the whole steam to the end of the Q&A but didn't notice mention of one thing - will my most hated aspect of the game, those venom-launching vipers, get a retune? Slither-spitters I think they are called. Hope so 🙏

Don't mind Augury so much once it gets going, but it's one that can be a real hectic start like a couple of other maps - almost feel like being under pressure before the map has even fully loaded in with this one though!

Glad they're doing something about pulling the handles, that was dumb. But The. Snakes. Do. Not Fuck. About.

Maybe I'm dumb and don't understand enough of the game - there's a lot to learn! But when a 6500k ES can be gone with a quick glance around a corner when running CI I obviously have something wrong on how these things work.

Whinge over. Here's a question for anyone playing on console or an aging PC using skills that spew a lot of projectiles far and wide - do you find Breach to be a problem when the frame rate inevitably tanks? (usually 3 or 4 seconds after the start). I know they said they were generating tons of server-side errors when there isn't anywhere to spawn approx. 20% of new enemies at times (assume this is on higher tiers with more density). Seems to go fine for a few seconds until ridiculous swarms swamp the screen, the frame rate tanks, and the only outcome is a stuttery, unresponsive death because the game is falling over itself.

Skill issue/build issue highly probable, I can only run them safely at very low tiers (1-5), but still... it seems similar or related to how unresponsive the game is at times, like how I can't pick up random shit on screen "just because" - see it highlighted "X" to collect, but mash away and nothing happens... until it does. Can be when there's even only a pitiful few mobs around and "X" is bound to just interact. I see PC streamers roaming around deleting stuff en masse, and collecting everything quickly and easily with a simple click. Never once having to mash away on an item to collect it. Tried running at a locked 30, 40, 60 and 120 with VRR, but makes no difference - collecting stuff from the ground is iffy when engaging or even semi close to enemies. Don't even get me started on how the game seems to know better than me and my right stick where I'd really like to be aiming at any particular moment, too... 😂

They have a problem with the 1 shot pinnacle builds but they have decided to address that later.

It is a 2 stage process. 1) fix some of the core issues players are having asap then 2) do a full rebalance of the meta and reset the economy at the same time with a new league but it takes a bit more time to tune it.

Poe1 is a relatively small audience, if people prefer that zoom zoom game play style then POE1 is the game to play. It seems POE2 will probably attract a wider audience and having a different gameplay style is fine since both games can co-exist.

People need to stop trying to make POE2 the same as POE1 but with some QOL. Just add the QOL to POE1 and let POE2 be it's own thing.

I think I'll wait for the patch to do more tier XV maps, it's not like I don't loot but just look at the level of those waystones I get (415% on this one):

I think a good way to buff mace skills to make them feel effective even though they're slow would be to give them a super armor buff and an inertia buff while the attack animation is taking place.

They said they want early and mid maps gameplay to be more methodically and once you reach end maps you can zoom all you want. You should have god tier dmg you reach that level

If bleed goes through shield it kills CI.

They should focus on real bugs like 1 hp being counted as high AND low life, making some passive like killer instinct completely broken.

Actually that got fixed last week

0.1.0e Hotfix 6

  • Fixed a bug where allocating Chaos Inoculation would incorrectly count you as being on Low Life.

greatest air drummer of all time, baseg.

Squinton praise be.

Overall patch is all good stuff but im waiting for 2 new classes and an economy wipe. 300 hours is plenty of time clocked in for now for me.

i am tempted though to at least get my last citadel to try Ash once i can see where they are in the fog now.

True, thats nonsense as well...but as it sounds to me...CI is currently completely immune to bleeding, as only hits to "life" can apply it. I am not 100% sure, but it worked different in POE1, as it didnt had this "life" requirement to apply it and than the damage over time (from bleed) was simply dealt to yr Energy Shield.

I tested attribute stacking with my monk but I think it isn't worth it with budget gear: I get incredible screen cleaning but it's too random on bosses for my liking.

Tho it made me realize plenty of good stuff I could add to my older build and make it way better, the most notables being:

- Chaos Inoculation + Minion Pact on Quarterstaff (no need to use a skill) to kill Lingering Illusions (need Persistence support gem for timing) to generate power charges outside combat (and freedom to put some magic find instead of chaos resists on gear)

clfjlX2.png

- Double Heralds build for mass explosions and easy triggers of Cast on Freeze socketed with Profane Ritual to generate more charges without even doing anything

My tree ends like this:

wSVbvLA.png

It's crazy the damage I get from double heralds while investing so few in elemental damage.

And I have my 7 power charges, best QoL nodes for me. :messenger_smiling_hearts:

If you want to borrow my Hand of Wisdom and Action to test drive that, you can. I'm messing around with other builds anyway.

For the most part ARPG fans (really more a Diablo-like but I digress) complaining about builds are talking about not being able to do crazy end-game runs at insane difficulties whereas a more casual player may never notice the issues.

Glad I dropped "...and protect me from harm" from the monk's ascendancy, many people put it in their build and I saw absolutely 0 difference using it besides nerfing my evasion.

Data Breach Notification

Last week we became aware that a PoE account with admin access to the website owned by one of our developers had been compromised. This gave them access to the tools that our customer support agents use.

We immediately locked the account, and forced password resets on all other admin accounts. We then began an investigation into what had occurred.

The PoE account in question was linked to an old steam account that was created by a developer for testing a long time ago, and didn't have any purchases on it. The compromise occurred when the attacker was able to supply enough information to steam support to steal the account.

Since the account was a regular steam account and had no purchases, phone numbers, addresses or other information associated with it, the only information that they were required to supply was the email, account name and be using a VPN from the same country.

The attacker set random passwords on 66 accounts. Unfortunately there was a bug in the event log for this particular support action that allowed the attacker to delete the event showing that the change had occurred. This bug doesn't exist for other support actions and has been fixed now.

The attacker also viewed account information for a significant number of accounts through our portal.

For those accounts they got access to the following private information:
  • Email Address if the account had one associated
  • Steam ID if the account had one associated
  • IP Addresses that the account had used
  • Shipping address if the account had previously had physical goods sent
  • Current Unlock Code for unlocking accounts locked due to logging in from a different region

No passwords or password hashes were viewable through the customer service portal.

In addition there are some accounts where the attacker looked at transaction history which would have shown a list of previous purchases.

There are also some accounts where the attacker looked at the private message history on the account. Many of these are for GGG staff.

It is probable that the attacker would be able to compare email addresses found using our portal against publicly available lists of compromised passwords from other websites in order to find accounts that shared the same password with their PoE account. If that was the case, they would have been able to bypass the region locking using the unlock code.

We have taken steps to ensure that there are more security measures around admin accounts so that this can not happen again. No 3rd party accounts are allowed to be linked to any staff accounts and we have added significantly more stringent IP restrictions.

We are incredibly sorry for this lapse in security. The measures taken to secure the admin website really should have already been in place and in the future we will be taking even more steps to make sure that this kind of issue never occurs again.

All this talk of end game...and I'm only in Act 1 Cruel...lol

Love seeing overwriting runes. Enjoyed what I seen with the interview..need to finish it. Very happy with how this game is going.
Just two characters in Act 3 here... but my laptop just wasn't up to playing the game and I'm back at proper gaming rig so maybe I can make a big push into the endgame this weekend.

Waiting for path notes to drop before playing more. Been trying No Rest for the Wicked in the meantime. That game is...interesting. Far more tedious/punishing than souls at the beginning, has survival aspects, you start with almost no stamina so you end up using all of it if you as so much blink. This game is not going to grab people the way souls game do but I'll still give it a proper go. The art and story are really nice.
