PlayStation has 6 original Live Service games still in development. How many will hit? (POLL)

How many of the Significant Six will stick the landing for PlayStation?

  • 0 - 1. The trainwreck will continue to crumple.

  • 2. PlayStation will find their Bert and Ernie.

  • 3. PlayStation will find their Luke, Leia, and Han.

  • 4. Cowabunga!

  • 5 - 6. I believe in the Significant Six.

6 more that were not part of the other 2 cancelled?

Jesus Christ, did Sony just put the house on fucking GAAS at the Casino or something?

It feels like gaas or sequels this gen from sony. Far cry from every other generation.

Oh, I saw a post indicating they only had 3 left - the first 3 listed here - but it's actually 6. That's disappointing. 2 of the other 3 sound like smaller projects, at least.

If you're going to use the thread to "gauge GAF's intuition," you need to define "succeed" or "hit." Those are ambiguous terms that can be spun. By "hit," do you mean a hit on the level of other major GaaS titles (e.g., Fortnite, GTA, Destiny, or whatever)? By "succeed," do you mean turn a profit? Even a small one? It's too late to define terms now, though.

My own personal guess would be 1 (maybe 2?) of the 6 will be a moderate success - by which I mean it will turn a substantial profit and be moderately popular - not minimal, but not on the level of a huge GaaS title, either.

Honestly I am surprised all six aren’t Horizon titles of some kind.

On a serious note, the only two that stand a chance are Marathon and CoD guy game. But if even one hits then it’ll make up for all the others failing.

I wonder how much money and work they've wasted chasing the golden GaaS. They'll be lucky to even get some money back, let alone break even.

Well done Jim Ryan, millions in wages well earned.

Let the record show that MLB The Show is not part of the Significant Six nor was it ever implied to be part of the Significant Six. I yield to the jury...

Sorry, but I have no clue what the Significant Six is and when Sony has ever used that term. The fact is that most of the ones you mentioned will fail and none of them will be as profitable as MLB The Show when comparing all 1st party live service games from PS.

I will play absolutely none of those. I would only be less interested in Horizon if there wasn't FairGame$ to be even less interested in.

There are hundreds of hours worth of RPGs alone in my backlog I'd rather play than whatever COD Guy makes or Post-Destiny want to GaaS up next.

Helldivers is the only one that will make it. Sony should support them for the long run.

First-party games are all cooked. Fairgames has the potential to become a GAF favorite, CCU drama included.

The final blow will be the Chinese Horizon clone becoming relatively popular while the Horizon MMO sinks.

Sony Music will again embarrass PS Studios with FGO and Palworld.

Sony is so full of gaas, when they finally release it all in one long blow across the next generation the whole industry will smell somethings in the air. When you throw this much shit at the wall at least somethings gotta stick to it right

It's been a joy watching Sony's GAAS trainwreck. They've been so high on their own farts for a while.

The PS5 generation has been a near total failure compared to all the great single player games from Sony in the PS3/PS4 generations.

Marathon and whatever Jason Blundell is doing might do well enough.
But man, Sony has an opportunity to bring Killzone back, do an action packed campaign and a multiplayer similar to Killzone 3. Try to capitalize on the Killzone fanbase, casual FPS players and the angry COD fans by doing the things that franchise is not doing while also keeping expectations in check that the game probably won't be doing COD numbers (something Ubisoft was expecting with XDefiant for some reason) and that sounds like a solid attempt to do a GaaS that people might be interested in.
