Even though I watched the Uncharted movie myself, I would still prefer an Uncharted game instead. Need I explain why?
There are other ways to sway people into buying consoles, but when was the last time they released a major Uncharted? Almost 10 years have passed since then.
If you are a big Uncharted fan like me, the PS5 has nothing to offer these days. It's already 2025 and $499 for 2020 hardware is a bit too much, especially when there's no Uncharted 5 in the horizon.

I am a big Uncharted fan, but I, unlike you, not an infantile. I am perfectly fine with Uncharted movie.
Things doesnt work in a way that if Sony wouldn't made Uncharted film it would have made Uncharted game. No.
1st ND is moved on and more interested in new projects. 2nd - movies and games are completely different things - they even different companies. They have separate budgets, targets etc. And if anything we would see another comic-based movie instead of Uncharted and obviously not a game. Because it's Sony Pictures area of responsibility, budgets, targets etc, and they can do their projects aligned with other business lines (transmedia approach) or separately. But they will do ~~movies~~ and games.

Actually... in reality... no one stops Sony to do both Uncharted movie and Uncharted game at the same time, corporate finance doesn't work in a way that you can only spend cash at hands so they should mandatory choose where to invest. The main reason why they do not do Uncharted because their capacity is filled with other projects. And cancelling Uncharted movie will not give them suddenly another studio ND level of quality, expertise etc who can make next Uncharted and you'll end up without both movie and game.

2) I will believe Sony's transmedia strategy is successful when the PS5 becomes a mass market product like the iPhone.
So far it's been a nothingburger. The majority just doesn't care. They're happy with their smartphones. No PC/console for the Average Joe.

They are number 1 company game company with record revenue. So, obviously, their strategy do help them keep and grow market share.

There were new 10 GAAS hits that released in 2024. Their Metacritic average was 72. Sony Bend, BluePoint, and Haven aren't outclassed by those 10 developers...not by a long shot. Anti GAAS echo chambers breed lots of bad thinking. It's always good to step outside every once in a while as see that NeoGAF and gaming twitter is not real life.

God of War as a modern day Gauntlet sounds like a solid idea.
Fairgames only looked like dog**** to people who suffer from GDS. The characters didn't look any worse than Valorants. It's just an out of touch echo chamber bouncing the same idea off one another.

That’s because Sony went blank cheque gunning for GAAS. Bungie, and buying up all kinds of gaas studios who don’t even have anything but a new studio and concepts. All you had to do is set up a new studio with some veteran gaas industry people and decent chance Sony will offer an acquisition deal.

Starting last year that all came to a stop and they are rightsizing their gaas push the second that new Japanese exec guy took over from Jim.

I play more multiplayer than you, and trust me, nobody wants to play with BASED characters....

I play a ton of The FInals. It's as toxic and male oriented of a player base as you can get. Roughly half of the player choose to play as men dressed in womens clothes wearing skunk backpacks with female wigs. Multiplayer gamers don't care what their avatars look like. Thats a SP phenomena. Fortnite, League of Legends, Valorant are as generic / woke as Fairgame$. When it succeeds, it won't have anything to do with the Alecia Keys character in the trailer.

The online woke and online anti woke both suffer from sever cognitive bias. They see Jesus in their Eggo Waffles just like all the crazy religious people do. Multiplayer lives or dies based on how fun they are to play, not based on the culture war.

I don't care what your sons friends play as. Boot up Fortnite and run around the pre match multiplayer lobbies. The majority of character models are female. I'd estimate it's a 70 female to 30 male ratio.

Fairgames is OBVIOUSLY going with the same model as The Finals in that you'll have a wide spectrum of characters / looks to choose from. No one will be stuck playing as the South of Midnight girl in Fairgames.
