Damn, Arken Age is actually amazing! I am so impressed by this game!

The atmosphere is very good, with great musics and a very peculiar and beautiful Art direction. Every zone is a joy to explore with beautiful details everywhere, very interesting level design and a ton of stuff to discover. The game really looks beautiful and crystal clear in the headset, with a very smooth framerate.

Even if the game is split by zones, everything is interconnected and there is a real sense of progression with tons of upgrade to unlock and some backtracking to make for a lite Metroidvania experience. Combine that with the strange SF vibe of the game and it almost feels like playing Metroid Prime!

I am 7 hours in and having a blast! The game is pretty simple in its game design but it knows exactly what it can and wants to achieve, resulting in a very focused, engaging and mesmerizing experience.

I know this is daft, but I saw a cheap second-hand Bhaptics Tactsuit x16 for sale so I bought it. The x16 and x40 have been superseded by Tactsuit Pro & Air now so it seems there are people upgrading or just getting rid of the old models right now.

I only have PSVR2 (no PCVR or Quest) so I know I will get very little mileage out of it. I knew going in that hardly any PSVR2 games support these haptic vests, but I was really curious to give one a go.

Legendary Tales, Breachers & Hellsweeper are the only games I have that support it. So far I've only tried it with Legendary Tales.

My impressions: Pretty easy to set up. Installed the app on my phone, paired the vest, started the game, the app recognised the game has begun and we were in business. It does kind of shit me that the vest doesn't directly connect to the PS5, as 10 years from now the app probably won't work with the latest smartphones. Anyway...

In game, I wondered at first if it was even working as nothing was happening. Blocked and parried the first mob I fought. Not a rumble from the vest. Next guy managed to swing and hit me under my shield resulting in a strong rumble in my lower left ribs, right where he got me. Nice. As I fought on, I found the hit feedback to be pretty good. Before using the vest, the rumble in the Sense controller was the same whether you blocked the blow with your shield or took the hit. With the vest, you could immediately feel whether you'd taken damage or not, and where.

When picking up and storing items, there's a light bit of tactile feedback between your shoulders as the items go into your pack.

It's not revolutionary. It's not even close to necessary, but it did add a bit to the immersion.

Gonna give the other games a shot (in the back probably) when I have some time. Will post my impressions here in case anyone's interested.

Has anyone else been silly enough to buy one of these?
I haven't bought one but funny you mention Legendary Tales, I was playing that last night and one of my buddies is a female character, the boobs have physics. You can touch them and they jiggle. Needless to say, I usually cop a feel when he's distracted, for laughs. That got us wondering if the boob physics would register with a bhaptic vest.

I will await your report, Sir. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Thank you. Think I'm gonna go that route.
If you like RM1, you'll love RM2.

If you don't like RM1, you'll still probably love RM2. The sequel is better in every way.

----------------------------------

I've been chipping away at Legendary Tales in coop, always a good time.

Also playing a bit of Arken Age, great game but like I mentioned the other week, I played the devs previous 2 games the other week and I'm a bit burnt out on the gameplay loop still.

About to browse the store but I'm pretty set on buying that 90s Skiing game, looks so much fun. Like Coolboarders in VR.

Hey that's my post haha

Really happy about this news, ITR is such a fantastic game.
Hmm… I actually bounced off this game pretty hard. Initial impression wasn’t too great; I remember being kinda confused and not particularly interested in whatever story they were trying to tell while introducing their mechanics. I need to give it another chance I guess.

Its not a game for everyone definitely. I would almost consider it as a minimalistic immersive sim. The story is not really important, its more about learning how to survive, exploring the world and unraveling the mysteries of the lore at your own pace.

If you try again some day, I recommend watching some guides in YouTube as the game is not the best to explain itself.

“Sony was great for us. They were happy we went to that platform, and we will continue to support PlayStation VR2 as much as we can.”

Nothing much, really, but interesting to read and I like the little bits related to the PSVR2. Also, they will announce their biggest project this march, I wonder what it is.

I finished and platinumed Arken Age. That was really an amazing experience! You can feel that these guys are masters at crafting VR mechanics and that they put everything they could in this project.

Don't sleep on it, guys, it's one of the best game on the system imo. Solid 8.5. Oh and the last boss is absolutely insane! One of the most jaw drapping fight ever built in VR, even above Behemoth.

I got bug after finishing tutorial (key opening gate disappeared). I can do tutorial rather quickly again but dev said will fix it in next update ;d

I got about 8 hours into it, trying to 100% as much as I can before going to the next zone. PS5 says I'm 47% done, haven't fought a boss yet but I expect it'll happen soon. It's a really impressive game.

90s Extreme Skiing seems like kind of a dud, but I need to put more time into it. Sony nerfed it due to their comfort requirements but the developers updated it today and brought back the features that were cut, it's a separate mode. The dev said that Parole's Gamecast was harsh on the game, I'm guessing that was based on the build prior to today's patch. I give kudos to the devs for adding the stuff back in because it sounds like they aren't supposed to have it, per the guidelines. The launch version was not extreme in the slightest, kind of slow and boring. Hopefully this new mode gets it to where it should be.

I'll post some thoughts when I play more.

I’d love to play Village in VR, so I’m thinking about getting one. I upgraded to a Pro. I don’t want to spend $600 on it though. That’s insane. Does anyone have a good experience buying a used VR2 for a couple hundred less?

My family has a Meta 3 and I really liked RE4. I hear Village is insanely good. I missed that 2024 sale on the VR2. Maybe I get it used or just buy a PS Portal.

I would look into getting it on ebay or something. As low as half the price.

I haven't played vr2 as much as I wanted to, but I go back to it on occasion. I had gotten cats shortly after I bought it so I kept it in the box when I wasn't using it. Then slowly stopped playing as much.

I advise buying a used one only if you are able to try it for yourself, as it is very easy to hide lenses scratches in the pics. Might be worth waiting a little bit as PSVR2 is about to turn 2 years old this february, so they might cut the price again.

I think it's been on sale for as low as 350 or 399 recently in the us. Hopefully you can catch it on a good sale. It youre in nyc I'll sell you mine lol it's been collecting dust since launch. I should try it again since I notice there are a bunch of psvr 2 games now on ps premium.

I love it and I think it is way more deep than meets the eyes, as the ghosts can be very complex. It is a blast to play with friends (I never play it alpne as I'm a freaking pussy 🤣)!

So after trying out the Bhaptics Tactsuit with Legendary Tales a while back, I finally got around to trying it with Breachers and Hellsweeper.

Breachers was good in that the vest's feedback gave extra heft to the different weapons and you could feel where incoming fire was coming from. Unfortunately the lag was really noticeable. You feel the kick of the shotgun in your body not when you fire it, but a moment afterward which really diminishes the effect.

Hellsweeper VR definitely felt like the best implementation of Tactsuit haptics. Lots of strong feedback when swordfighting, shooting, dashing, casting & going through portals. There's probably still lag there, it just wasn't as apparent as it was in Breachers. Absolutely enhanced the experience and immersion. It's such a dynamic game, really well suited to extra haptic feedback.
