Preorder Quantum Break for Xbox One, Get Windows 10 version for free - also HW specs

Why the hell would they bother with a redeemable token though? I could see for retail, but a digital purchase should just unlock it on your account. Have they not got their crap figured out yet?
Dunno if this has been answered yet, but its probably so they can see who bothers to get it. If it just unlocked, they probably wouldn't be able to know who went ahead and made sure to get the PC version.

My CPU is below minimum specs, but that has been the case for more games, and I still can run those games just fine. However, doesn't the windows 10 store lock you out from purchasing a game if you are below minimum specs?

i just love how Xbox One a console with a last gen GPU with barely 1.3 Tflops can play the same game as a PC with 980 Ti.

They have to be bullshitting with these recommended specs.

Really?

Well, then RIP me. I only have a 3570K

Holy shit, 980ti, 6gb vram, 16gb RAM recommended? That has to be one of the most demanding PC games we've seen to date?

This is fantastic, I'm literally crying right now.

Like this?

This post isn't by me, it's by a guy with the same username as me.
Windows 10 doesn't bug me, but windows store exclusive is kind of bummer.

Missing some of those great PC options as OSDs, mods, injectors, external fps cap and more important SLI/CFX support is awful. (assuming that this will be like the ROTR version).

As the recommended spec is a 980Ti, SLI would be extremely necessary to those that want to downsample or run at a higher resolution.

DX12 helps the CPU bound games mostly

For the same Xbox One game, I find it weird to require GTX760 minimum on PC, and 16GB Ram on Recommended. Maybe its not properly optimized?

We will wait and see but I have many doubts about its performance, from what im reading.

I may be wrong though. Time will tell

We do have someone from Remedy here on GAF, it would be nice if they would bring up with the team the possibility of implementing a properly paced 30fps lock to the game, since RTSS won't be a thing.

REMEDY PLSSSSSSS

A 3570k is above the minimum specs.

The Graphics card minimum being high is because of Direct X 12 surely?

Oh, it is? I assumed it was inferior because of the numbers, lol. Then it's kinda like Graphics Card, where a 750 is weaker than a 670?

I wonder if those recommended specs will turn out to be for 4K. They're crazy high for a game that also has to run on an Xbox One. My old 2GB 670 got me well over Xbone-quality performance in Rise of the Tomb Raider, but it doesn't even meet minimum specs for Quantum Break.

A 670 is better than a 760. Just slightly though.

Or to make sure people who have a one account connected to their Xbox Live, and another to W10 can redeem the code without having to change things around.

There is nothing weird with that at all. 30->60+ fps and we don't even know what resolution it's running at on Xbox One. Perhaps recommended is for 4k. It's all arbitrary and doesn't mean anything until the person who wrote the specs say what it means.

It's a matter of cutting on the range of supported PC hardware. I doubt the raw hardware is the reason behind those "requirements" which should never be called that.

I wasn't even going to buy this game but just because of the preorder cross-buy (the future is happening...I've been saying this was going to happen) thing. I'm a total fan of it. This is the fucking future.

Also. Anyone who doesn't own an Xbox One, you can still buy it from the website (just make a MS acct if you don't already have one and a GT). Then you'll have a XBO and PC version. Obviously with no XBO but still...principles.

I'm not one to go digital usually, but I'm trying to migrate my Xbox One stuff to PC so this one Would be fine. Those system specs, though! Looks like I'll be buying more ram.

Damn at those recommended! My rig just squeaks by. Well almost. I have overclocked vanilla 980 with 4gb. I do have a sli setup though. I hope they have drivers for SLI support! :^/

Surely it's coming to PC stores/platforms people actually use? Right?

If not, this is pretty much the worst scenario when we heard MS is again trying to push PC gaming. By PC gaming they mean only their store that is not compatible with PCs of the past or the future, it's tightly locked to Windows 10 DRM.

If that is really the case, I went from buying Quantum Break on Xbox One to not buying the game at all. PC version was the best case but I refuse to use a store that doesn't consider people outside of North America even customers and that is trying to do again what they attempted ten years ago with GFWL.

Well a 3570k will smoke an FX6300 which is what I was basing it on. Either way I'm sure we (as a fellow 3570k owner) will be fine.

Judging by recent developments a 3570k is gonna last you for a long time.

I'm sure it will, but if this thing that the Windows store doesn't let you buy shit if you don't meet the requirements, I might have to pass on games that I could easily run, just because the devs put higher minimum requirements than they had to, which is a very common thing on Steam.

Yeah, I think it can handle the game, what I worry is about not even being able to purchase it.

Most likely 1080p/60 fps and maxed settings. Could be that even the max settings is too much for a 980ti (one can only hope...).

A 970 can't max out Rise of the Tomb Raider for example. Recommended should be max settings and 1080p/60 fps at the very least.

Yup - hoping that recommended actually means 1080/60.

Even my 980 can't do 1080/60 on Tomb Raider. Assuming it's a similar situation here. Plus, QB looks gorgeous so it's sort of understandable if that's the case.

Ah, so you can't pre order the disc version...

Btw you get a redemption code for the W10 version. The begging thread will be insane. :lol

Why won't they just link it to the account? this will just means most on W10 will buy the game for cheap from XB buyers instead of paying 60$ for it.

I don't know if that is 100 % how it works, but I couldn't buy rise of the tomb raider while on my laptop (which is of course way below minimum specs), but I could on my desktop that met the minimum requirements.

Those specs seem like an odd compromise between "we'll throw our PC customers a bone" and "don't want to make it too easy for people to dump their Xboxes".

Tomb Raider is far more graphically demanding than anything going on in QB surely? It's a massive open world game.
