It helped “save” the series, but objectively I just don’t like the half of the game that isn’t the more Metroidvania-like Baker house section. Makes it harder to want to replay than other games in the series, and loses points for me. Still a good game.

Yeah I know, for me it's when you get to the ship that the quality drops off. But I will also say that the Baker House is one of the finest settings and level design in the franchise, and as far as horror goes, RE7's first half is peak horror.

Starting a platinum run tonight, going for the knives and pistols first, then moving on to Professional + S rank runs. Wish me luck.

Haven't felt compelled to do a Plat run since the original Demons Souls came out on PS3. This game is so good.

I think RE2R is the best RE game overall but I do agree Mr.X is one of the few complaints I have with it. He should be there, but only in B-scenarios. As is, the A and B are very similar now, it would be masterful if Mr.X was just put there to troll you in a second run.
Or even if it was for the time between a couple big story beats. Him chasing me around for the whole second half + of the game just makes me not want to replay it. Maybe for the same % of game that Jack chases you around RE7.

Anyone else having issues with motion sickness?

I’m highly susceptible to it, it’s mostly only applied to VR so far but for some reason playing this on my PC has me feeling sick and sweaty after about half hour. Sucks too as PC with M/KB I find a far superior way to play as opposed to using a controller (not to mention having everything at the highest settings), but at least PS5 doesn’t make me want to puke.

I can make a controller work I guess, but has anyone found a solution for this? Something about the camera or the way the game moves my brain finds disagreeable. ☹️
Have you maxed out the FOV?

Okay, so I now have the Chicago Typewriter and Ashley’s armor unlocked, so I’m going for a Hardcore S+ run.

Considering I beat Professional using the Infinite Rocket Launcher around 4:10 hours, any tips to save even more time? Obviously I have to spend some time getting money, treasure, and ammo since this has to be a brand new game to get S+ and from what I understand the Chicago Typewriter has to get its special upgrade to unlock infinite ammo for it. So I’m nervous that I only have about an extra hour to account for that, not to mention no Infinite Rocket Launcher means plenty of encounters will take a bit longer.

I’ve heard you can get the hand cannon on mercenaries mode s rank. No need for raw professional mode playthrough.

4 hours 10 minutes with the rocket launcher is way too long lol. did you skip everything?

ive been doing side missions and collecting all money and im only at 2 hours 30 minutes with just the last two chapters to go. so maybe 10-15 minutes.

Look up all the skips.

I would still occasionally pick up treasure and such (I was paranoid about running out of health items, still ended the game with 20 First Aid Sprays/GR herbs, LOL), but I did:

1) skip all cutscenes
2) shot the village bell to skip ahead (though I won’t be able to do this on a fresh new game)
3) shot the rock pile with a rocket to avoid getting the dynamite section (I need to check to see if you can do this with a grenade)
4) quit game and continued through main menu if I died to avoid the timer adding up
5) shot the big massive armored turret with a rocket to allow Mike to blow up the gate rather than going up all the way

I can probably speed things up by visiting the Merchant less often. Also, now that Ashley has the Armor, I can worry less about going a little out of the way to save as most of any of the deaths occurred from her being in the wrong spot at the wrong time when I shot the Rocket Launcher.

one minor thing i would have appreciated more is if Leon and Ashley got more conversations in with the merchant. They went a long way to really make him feel more human and lively and it would have been fun if Leon and the Merchant actually exchanged a small conversation every time you stop by one of his shops.

Also, those spider parasites creep me the fuck out

I just had Ashley die for the first time because for whatever reason the regenerator didnt die in one hit and i brought her out of the locker early lol.

There are several other skips. RPG the troll during the castle run. Open the gates by shooting an RPG or grenade out of the doors before you get to the troll. Enter 7:00 in the clock during the ashley section. RPG the clocktower rotating thingy. RPG or grenade the guy who lowers the balcony in the castle.

Use mines to kill the chainsaw sisters and mendez during the cutscenes. Look it up on youtube, some well placed mines and you exit the cutscenes to corpses. This is assuming you dont want to skip via clipping the walls and running out of bounds.

In the castle, shoot the counter weights from the other side of the door to skip several sections, theres also a counterweight to bring up the first cannon without dropping down and coming back up.

Shoot a rocket at the armored gigante that throws rocks at you

In the lever room with the goat head, throw a grenade to the lever platform to kill the guy that lowers the bridge in the cutscene, bridge wont lower so grab the head and sprint back out

Skip half the library ashley section by setting up the correct time in the clock

Rocket verdugo

Use the golden egg on salazar

Use the door skip in chapter 14 iirc to open the big locked gate and skip A LOT

Sprint past the turret using JJ as a human shield

Use a novistador attack to skip a turret

Im sure theres more but thats from the top of my head haha

Yeah, sorry I was just listing all the skips I know, not for a particular s+ run

Also theres a skip for the salazar robot, i believe you gotta shoot a charge or something on its back but im not familiar with that one.

Image quality seems better on ps5 definitely the attaché case menu looks a lot sharper, don’t know if this cause any negative performance issues

So I finished it 2nd time and it doesn’t hold up so quickly after first playthrough. I got kinda tired around the late castle part and it stayed this way. 2nd playthrough took me 8 hours.
Btw. Romantic costume looks great on Ashley. Leon’s casual outfit is lit too.

Cleared Castle stage with Luis S rank 1st try, there was literally nothing left to kill, sat there waiting for the clock to run down lol. Trying Krauser next, dynamite mayhem with Luis is cool but I still prefer Leon going full John J Rambo with his, let's see how Colonel Kurtz stands up.

the FOV in the game is sadly really narrow even on max settings.
the camera is way too close too.

I also think the way Leon moves, and the way the devs programmed the camera to move can add to feeling motion sick for some people.

the issue IMO being that the camera doesn't move smoothly.
in most games, as you walk straight forwards, the camera and character model move smoothly with a consistent speed... let's say 2km/h.
in REmake 4 however leon and the camera move "more realistically". Even if you move perfectly straight forward, Leon will take a step and then slow down a bit as he moves his foot forward to take the next step, this gets worse if he is wounded or was recently hit.
the camera ALSO moves at those inconsistent speeds. meaning if Leon slows down for half a second, so does the camera, and soon after when he speeds up for a second again, so will the camera too.

so the camera will go from (again these are made up speeds for the sake of demonstration) 2km/h to 1km/h and back to 2km/h at semi-regular intervals, which is also changed slightly whenever you are even minimal change the movement direction of Leon, which is why I said semi-regular intervals.
because the way he moves his feet, and therefore the speed at which he moves, and the interval between him speeding up and down, changes every time you turn a corner, get hit, sidestep, etc.

for me this doesn't make me motion sick, but it adds to the sluggish feeling of the game as a whole, and why IMO the original game feels way better to play.

but I can see that maybe adding to making people motion sick.
if you add this irregular camara speed with fast mouse movement, I could totally see it being an issue for some.
add to that how close the camera is and how narrow the FOV is and you got a bunch of causes that can all add up if you're sensitive to them.

I wish there was a better way to get cheese the Striker charm. As it stands it seems the only way is saving, trying batches of combinations, then waiting for a new playthrough. I want my damn movement speed.

Watch Resident Evil 4 Leon Kennedy react to IGN comments! We showed Resident Evil 4 remake Leon Kennedy voice actor, Nick Apostolides, some of our favourite Resident Evil 4 IGN Comments and got him to respond in a way only Leon S. Kennedy could. What do you think of this RE4 voice actor's reaction to your comments? Let us know!

  • 🎮 Leon Kennedy is a very popular video game character, and the voice actor Nick Apostolides has been playing the role since the remake of Resident Evil 2.
  • 🎭 Nick enjoyed creating the one-liners for Leon, including his favorite one, "You want to get ugly? Let's get ugly," which he wrote himself.
  • 👨‍🦱 The same face model used for Resident Evil 2 remake was used for Leon in Resident Evil 4, but it was not Nick's face that was scanned, but a model named Edward Bataluda.
  • 💇‍♂️ One of the IGN commenters joked that 99% of the budget for the game went into animating Leon's hair, which Nick found amusing.
  • 🎤 Nick talked about the subtle change he made to Leon's voice for Resident Evil 4, giving him a more hardened attitude compared to the previous game.
  • 👶 One commenter pointed out the oddity of calling the President's daughter a "baby eagle" when using code names, and Nick admitted it was a good point.
  • 🧥 Another commenter joked about Leon's expensive jacket, to which Nick joked that he would like to see the character's closet.
  • 🤝 Nick expressed excitement about the return of Mike, another character from the series.
  • 🤫 Nick teased that the "hasta luego" line makes a return in Resident Evil 4 remake, and he had fun recording it

holy crap, you are right... they improved it.

I still wouldn't call this "fixed" but it's not 35% anymore.
feels like 15% to 20% now... which is still shit, just to be clear, but not unplayable anymore
It baffles me when I hear about high profile games releasing with such broken fundamentals. Who is making changes and not running them through testing? Who decided a 35% deadzone was fine?

someone who didn't really care and just never adjusted the config file they used, maybe since a way older version, which was since updated by the team working on the PS5 version, but never really was adjusted down the line by the guys responsible for the PC and XBox versions.

now the Xbox seems to be similar to the PC version, which is way better than before but still shit sadly.

every game should have a deadzone slider these days...

new deadzone seems to be basically the same as on PC now.
while that's great, it's still far from the responsiveness of the PS5 version :(

so according to this the deadzone is in the ballpark of 24%, I thought it was more like 20% but yeah, still not great either way.
