Respawn’s next Star Wars game confirmed for reveal in April

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

he Star Wars strategy game from studio Bit Reactor and Jedi: Survivor’s Respawn will be revealed next month, it’s been confirmed.

On Saturday, April 19, the pair will appear on stage at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Japan, where they will offer the first look at their “Star Wars turn-based tactics game”.

Little is known about the game, which was announced alongside Respawn’s shooter and the third entry in the Star Wars Jedi franchise.

The strategy game is being developed through a production collaboration with Bit Reactor, which is a new studio formed by veterans of XCOM and Civilization studio Firaxis Games. Respawn is producing the latest Star Wars strategy game while Bit Reactor leads on the development of the title.

In a statement published last year alongside the announcement of nearly 700 company-wide layoffs, EA Entertainment president Laura Miele said that after a review, it had decided Respawn should focus on the Jedi and Apex Legends series.

I mean I guess it’s been a few months since Debra Wilson has been in a game. Timing seems about right.
A least Troy baker doesn't look exactly the same in every game he's in. They should think about changing her model a little in the next game she's in cause it's completely immersion breaking to see her in games now. Her eyes, baldness, and brow prominence are very distinctive.

I like vgc as a news source but Holy shit is that site a mess of ads and pop ups.

Midnight Suns was received very well but didnt sell well.
I dont know if a Star Wars game from Firaxis and BitReactor would be able gather sales needed to call it a success.
I can almost guarantee itll be a good game, i just hope it finds an audience.
I know people who hated on other people enjoying Midnight Suns (like the Terror from the Void Discord channel)
I enjoyed Midnight Suns very much.

A game in the style of X-Com set in the Star Wars universe could be cool.
I just hope they focus on the gameplay and not some awful story.

The main reason I skipped Midnight Suns is when I found out a significant chunk of the game is spent talking with the other characters and building relationships with them. I literally couldn't care less if Blade wants to join a book club or other stuff like that.

Going with card based system wasn’t a smart move from sales perspective. Hopefully this one won’t have that.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
This is their 3rd Star Wars title in 5 years and Jedi 3 is already on the cards.
How do they do it when it takes so long to develop games 🤔

Blade just wanted to fuck Carol.

Yep, but it turns out the card system was one of the best parts of the game. The Persona social nonsense could have been left out, though, it just dragged the game on.

I don’t disagree. In the end the battle system was pretty good. I would still take normal Xcom type setup over that, but overall the approach was well done. The issue though is that Card system in Xcom type game isn’t going to get a large audience.

And of course the Social part could have been good.. but their writing team sucked.

Turn based sounds cool but I was another game similar to Jedi Knight or Jedi Academy but with outlaws / jedi survivor graphics

Yeah that wont sell well...
Man where is a Kotor like SW game?
Where you can be a good or bad Jedi with badass Action Combat and Customization?
Or a proper Battlefront? Not a Herofront that we got with the DICE attempts...

Is this a mobile gotcha game or a real game? Star Wars has some hit and misses with these types of games

I've always thought a Star Wars or World of Warcraft game done in the spirit of traditional turn baded JRPG style has so much potential.

It's *supposed* to be a proper, fully-budgeted XCOM-like and BitReactor is a studio that includes a lot of Firaxis' expats.
