NVIDIA is preparing to launch its next-generation GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in 2025. The company has started its promotional activities through the GeForceGreats event and the GeForce LAN 50 physical events. To mark the 25th anniversary of its first GPU, the GeForce 256, NVIDIA released a GeForceGreats video on YouTube. The video detailed the plans for the GeForce LAN 50 Lan Party and NVIDIA’s keynote speech at CES 2025, scheduled for January 6, 2025, in the United States.

...if it's only got 8GB of VRAM I wouldn't give them £30 for that planned obsolescence POS.
Yeah no new card should be 8gb anymore. Even early current gen games like Ratchet and Clank from 2021 needs more than 8gb on a 1080p. And there's plenty of more demanding game since then with more to come. So even 1080p users like myself needs higher than 8gb of video ram. People have been saying this for a few years but this is becoming more and more of a problem with more demanding games out now.

It was still made on the 5 series.

But not in real time = tell us nothing about 5 series performance. I guess it tells us it can pre-render videos using UE5 like every other modern GPU.

Predictions: They'll announce 5090 and 5080. 5090 will be a substantial leap over the 4090 with a commensurate price increase. 5080 will be a 4090 lite, falling behind the 4090 at higher resolutions, but performance close to it and 1440p. It will provide less price/performance compared to the 5090, but neither of them will be good compared to current gen.

There will be some new feature locked to the 50xx series, and it will probably be real time texture upscaling that adds in details that were not in the source, or something silly like that.

I wonder if a 5090 will give you a locked 60fps at native 4k on black myth wukong.

My old 4090 if remember correctly was giving a cinematic 23.976 fps

Eh?, there are loads of Youtube vids of 4k/60 gameplay, even at 'cinematic' settings.. Not all on 4090's too.
Even my 1080ti when i had it ran the demo at 1080p/60 with quite a bit of gpu usage to spare. Probably could of pushed to 1440p and held 60fps most of the time.

Unless there has been some kind of path tracing update since then?

Toggle on Full RT. The 4090 gets about 25-30fps at native 4K.

I am ready to be disappointed by anything not named 5090. Maybe 5070Ti would be decent for its price as well.

Kinda afraid that anything other then 5090 is going to be a rebrand of the 4000 series.
there were some rumours the 5080 is only just slightly better than a 4090 (or maybe even a 4080 i can't remember)

lmao i knew you'd be getting one.

i don't know if i will bother. maybe just wait for the 6000. my 4080 is still kicking ass.

and see above. i think the 5090 is the only card that will be worth buying. everything else i think will just be a refreshed/rebranded 4000 card.

I don't see the point of upgrading each gen, unless you're going from low end to high. Skipping a gen is usually the best in terms of cost and performance gains you'll actually notice.

Yeah, i have a 4070 and i also will wait for future cards. I use mine in 1080p so i hope i will get some years out of it.
Although full Raytracing won't be possible always i think i'm fine.

I think the final game will look that good.

put these foolish ambitions to rest. thou'rt but a fool!

it's a CGI trailer. even when we get gameplay i still won't expect the game to look like that. remember Witcher 3 went through a "downgrade" phase.

but then Cyberpunk actually ended up looking a lot better than it did in the gameplay trailers.

i know but i don't have any brains or sense.

i only play at 1440p but i did upgrade to a 360hz monitor. i only run it at 240 but still i wish i had a bit more power.

i had a 1070 then got a 2080 and now a 4080. so i guess i'll wait for a 6080 or something. the xx90 cards are just way too expensive

Writes a lot, says very little
I'll wait 3 or 4 years like i always do. The advantages of playing on a 60hz tv!.

I have only just upgraded to a 3070!.
Same, I might wait longer tbh

Having a 6950XT in one build and a 4090 in another, I don't even see the point of buying the 5000 series as...fuck am I suppose to play exactly? lol

We waiting until next gen, will wait a few years into it and will upgrade then.

If it's as silly as DLSS, Ray Reconstruction or DLSS Frame Gen i'm in.

That's all i want to know, which new technology are they bringing, hope there's some

Will I finally upgrade from the 3080? Perhaps, perhaps

Just don't buy anything with less than 16GB. They will have GPUs with nice power (like 5070) and with amount of VRAM that won't allow it to use it with PT and FG (12GB)...

Yep I'm thinking the 5070 ti might be the best option. The 5080 is rumoured to be 1.5k ish lol
