The Verge: Nvidia to release RTX 5070 and 5090 in January, announcmeent at CES 2025

for some people not selling point, and you forgot FSR4

about RT read this - I don't give a shit about ray tracing btw and I'll be gaming at 1440p (c)
So you are telling us you dont care about the graphics? As of now, there are over 100 games supporting RT, so it does not make sense to look only at raster performance. DLSS FG is also amazing, this thing works so well (unlike FSR FG) that it's basically a free performance boost. If you dont want Nvidia GPUs, just wait for the RDNA4 GPUs as they should run RT with much better results and have AI powered FSR.

We all know what ray tracing does. Even PlayStation heavily invested into AI upscaling and ray tracing, more so than in raw power because they know where the industry is headed, yet you have AMD users who swear that RT and upscaling don't matter. You'll look like a fool in 2 years listening to these guys if it isn't already the case.

every time this thread is bumped I check if there are any new announcements from Nvidia---
I want that 5090
The Lord Of The Rings GIF

Same. I'm looking for a new monitor setup to go with it. I've got an ASUS Predator right now as my primary for my 4090, but it's only a 2k monitor. I'm torn between making my Predator my secondary and getting a larger 4k monitor, or getting rid of both my monitors and getting a larger 4k curved display to prep for the 5090.

This is 2024. Damn near every AAA game ships with RT
Be real, there no games which force you play with only RT, also there still alot people wo doesn't care about RT and even "Settings"

Black Myth Wukong, Rift Apart, Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man/Miles Morales, The Witcher 3...and the list goes on and will continue growing.
Don't try to project your own impressions onto everyone. Different people, different opinions

Translation: If you don't care about modern technology, go with AMD.

Yeah, ignore RT and upscaling, two of the biggest advancements in the past few years. When AMD gets AI upscaling and proper RT, you guys won't shut up about it.

You can't game on PC and not care about settings.

Mostly AMD and console users. Same guys who kept dismissing 60fps but now demand it or won't play the game.

Like I said, RTX pushers were making the same argument during the 20 Series era when RT implementations were laughable especially considering the performance cost.

Yes it's true that AMD and Sony are playing catchup with Nvidia in that department, but nevertheless the visuals speak for themselves and the results have been slightly above average (although Nvidia would convince everyone otherwise). This is especially the case amongst non-enthusiast gamers.

I think SW Outlaws and Avatar, Metro Exodus EE require HW RT to even start.
But they not force you have RT cards. Metro EE is have no RT verison.

You can't game on PC and not care about settings.
You seems missed something.

won't change nothing, there will be still people who doesn't care. Your problem is that you try to impose your opinion on everyone

Not my opinion. That's where the industry is headed. You got games now where they even include upscaling in the system requirements. You can say they don't matter all you want, but two of the biggest players in the industry, Sony and NVIDIA, have banked on AI upscaling and RT. These guys are the ones driving things forward.

Like I said, RTX pushers were making the same argument during the 20 Series era when RT implementations were laughable especially considering the performance cost.
Which hardly matters now. We're almost in 2025. Games shipping with RT were uncommon back in 2018. Now, almost every AAA game has RT features and those will only get better with time. What I'm saying is, if you're about to purchase an x70-tier GPU, RT and DLSS should be taken into consideration. If the person was buying some budget GPU, then I would have said RT is irrelevant, but if you're paying $500+ for the card, you want it to support the latest and greatest adequately.

I know because i'm working on it

You must understand that, there are two camps. One love RT/AI upscalings, other doesn't care/doesn't love.
You also forced to make first on consoles and popular low end cards. When the time comes, everything will change drastically, but for now, we have what we have
AAA studios can do it because they have a lot money/devs. Indie studios just need working with typical graphic and reach a larger sales as possible

Games that are clowned on for their terrible optimization and performance aren't a best example to show as the "future of the industry" they need upscaling because their code is awful

I disagree. You've seen just like me how messy many games are upon release, especially UE5. If devs don't bother optimizing (and they often don't), then there's nothing you or I can do about it. It's now being said that upscaling is used as a crutch and that might be true, which is just another reason why you should care about it.

The next Monster Hunter has built-in frame generation on consoles and seems to heavily encourage the use of AI upscaling. There's no way around that anymore. It's not like in 2020 when DLSS was a nice thing to have to get a free performance boost. In some instances, it'll be required if you want decent performance. It sucks, but that's where the industry is headed and you best be prepared for that garbage.

Untill fsr 4 proves itself I can't imagine buying a amd GPU. Dlss is simply better and getting better all the time.
Depends if you are going lower end. Nvidia likes to skimp on VRAM to upsell you to higher tier GPU's.

Assuming what we hear is true, 12GB again for 5070 is kinda BS. As is releasing 8GB cards in 2025 for $300+.

With more games relying on upscaling and post processing effects + FG VRAM is going to be become more of a bottleneck sooner rather than later. That goes doubly as people are wanting to also play at higher resolutions

The framegen portion of FSR actually works quite well, it's just as good as DLSS frame gen.

People can't keep paying exorbitant prices for hardware with hyper advanced features they don't need just to compensate for incompetent, stressed or lazy devs being unable to ship a functioning game. It's unsustainable.

Nobody has the time to spend 1600 on a GRAPHICS CARD. Thats a fucking mortgage payment, and if the tariffs happen its only gonna get worse.

Either the games get patched to run well or the terrible performance reflects in the sales and user scores.

Well, that's the point of DLSS, isn't? Now your $500 GPU can play 1440p upscaled to 4K or 960p upscaled to 4K.

We both know this isn't happening. They will run poorly and still sell. Look at Elden Ring and BMW. Both run like shit, yet sold like warm bread.

500$ GPU is still expensive as fuck when you consider all the other components going into a PC. That's a 1200 dollar system at minimum.

Those games don't perform that badly. I mean shit like MH Wilds, Flight Simulator or Dragon's Dogma 2 at launch
Arkham Knight tier ports that people are expected to weather because of DLSS. It's not gonna happen!!

DLSS FG is usable at 40fps and runs so well that I can even use it in first-person shooter games. If the game is running at 45-55fps, or has occasional dips below 60fps, DLSS FG would make you feel like you were playing at a real 80fps.

I tried using FSR FG in couple of games but my experience was terrible. FSR FG has motion judder, noticeable input lag (even on gamepad) and requires at least 60fps.

hmm, can't say i've noticed motion judder but yes the input lag is noticeable at 60->120fps, but it's still fine enough to play

I'll aim for a RTX 5060TI 16GB VRAM version that cost around 400 dollars to 500 dollars max. Since be more than enough for me to prepare for GTA VI, Elder Scrolls VI, and Fallout 5 since I'm sticking to 1080P.

Got bad news for ya... very likely 8 GB at launch and 12 GB later for more money. Presumably the price of the 8 GB will be some amount more than $399 too.

The 4080 was DOA at $1200, I highly doubt they'd make the same mistake again.

I think they care more about it hitting 4090 performance in benchmarks than the price. There'll be another GB203 product which would presumably take the $999 price slot... but would be slower than the 4090.

I think the 4080 was DOA because the 4090 was $1599. If the 5090 is $2000+, the 5080 may still look like a good "value" at $1200/$1300/$1400.

I'm thinking closer to 2 grand tbh. They know people will buy them.
Maybe but then we have Kepler saying it won't be that much more expensive. And others hinting that Blackwell isn't going to increase in price a lot.

Idd though. 4090 buyers won't flinch at 2K. Since spending anything well over a grand on one one part is likely to be much more well off. And a several hundreds more won't dissuade anyone from not buying them.
