Considering even Jensen doesn’t even know it, you’re full of shit. Also welcome to the upscaling party 4 years late, but keep bragging about the Pro like it was a flex.
Wait? Are you telling me you don't use you MEGA ALPHA PC to max out those games at 4K/120fps?!

Oh .. you are from the 90% of PC players with beta rigs?

Latest from MLID (yeah I know). But this wouldnt suprise me.

With no competition prices are to be continually terrible with gimped specs in the lower end of the stack.
- Covers basically every price possible
- End with an "it might change you guys"
- Claims credit when his "leak" falls inside the obvious pricing brackets.
- That's the MLID way baby!

uhh 5070 with 12GB VRAM? PS5 Pro here i come

People are convinced that PC gaming is going to continue to grow (and it probably will, but at what pace), but I think Sony has smartly positioned the PS5 Pro as a value buy for people considering upgrading their PCs, whereas those potential gains might have been locked out for 4 years without the Pro.

Less than 10% of the PC base on Steam has a PC more powerful than a PS5 Pro and consoles are going to be the only place to play GTA6 for probably a year at least and PS5 Pro will be the best place to play it.

Once the PS5 Pro releases, we'll get benchmarking on what that percentage actually is.

I think the reason why Sony didn't release a spec sheet for the PS5 Pro is because they anticipate PSSR doing so much of the heavy lifting.

Sony's ability to keep up with Nvidia in the future will be specific to gains in PSSR.

Well fuck it. I'm holding onto my 4080, I figured they at least learned their pricing after dropping it for the super but I guess not. and finding out the 4090 only costing them 400ish dollars to produce per card was gross. AMD please get your engineering team on the ball and save us from this shit
Those leaks are faker than Pamy Anderson’s tits.

Very safe and broad predictions indeed lol. He could've just said that his AiB sources expect shitty prices (to the surprise of no one) and ended it there.

What's the point in giving companies and being proud of it?
Proud? This has nothing to to with being proud.
Don't overcomplicate it.
It's a high-end tech product, and that's it.
I don't see how being proud has anything to do with these sort of purchases. And I neither understand the need to constantly sulk to the world about the prices.

Buy it or don't. No one's forcing anyone to buy any of this stuff.

Haven't you heard! You can use excel with your GPU... oh wait GPU+CPU+Ram+Screen+...etc

GREAT VALUE
High end GPUs are targeted at people who already have PCs, just like the Pro is targeted at players who are already in the PS ecosystem. You can sell your PS5 and buy a Pro, but you can also sell your existing PC GPU and buy a newer model.

Funny how i'm prepared to pay $800+ for a GPU but fuck off paying 700 for a console.
Same. I'm willing to pay £2k to upgrade my PC. Yet £700 for the PS5 Pro seems egregious and insulting. The 5000 also seems like an equally shit proposition if you have a 4000 series GPU.

Games will be developed for the PS5 for a long time as the 'base' console. When we hit the PS6 then I'll upgrade my GPU from the 4080. I think I'll be able to play 4K60 for the next 3-4 years.

These leaked prices look very nice. They are not too small, so most people will not be able to afford RTX 50 series card. Well done nvidia, make the PC platform great again by restricting gaming to rich people only.

BTW- I am being sarcastic 😉

Oh ffs.... Another "60" series card they will try to sell as the "70".

That means the 5060 will be the same piece of trash the 4060 was, with only 128bit bus and 8GB VRAM.

Why do people buy these cards? Why was the 4060 a success?

We get what we fucking deserve.

I can totally believe 5070 power around that 4070 ti, it will have less cores but higher clocks. And we know almost 100% about that 12GB.

Looks like my 4070ti super will be the best Nvidia GPU (price/performance) for many, many months with that 16GB memory.

Oh well, let`s see how much of the leaks turn out to be true, but right now this looks like a big "Dear customer, fuck you" from Nvidia.

Tbh PC's have been growing specially since 2019-2020, and back then PS5 was way better value against PC's back then, so i don't think this changes anything. The biggest difference is that this time, unlike with the PS4 Pro and the PS5, this PS5 Pro has no competence in the console space, so it still should do good.

About the 10% thing, well PS5 Pro hasnt even been released yet, but yes, in 2020 i'm sure the percentage of more powerful PC's than a PS5 was way smaller, as the only cards that did beat it were the 2080 and the Titan, while now there's the 3080ti, 3090, 4070, 4080 and 4090.

Agreed tho on the GTA6, it will push PS5-Pro consoles hard again

That was known info. 5070 gonna compete with N48, even in RT, but overall N48 shoud be faster

In raster it will be faster for sure (they already have 7900xt that it faster than 4070ti and n48 will be close to that) but I doubt path tracing performance will be on par with Nv. AMD always fucks up something.

FSR4 will also not appear anytime soon, without Ai upscaling their gpus are not appealing to me.

Well, GPU can be used for more than gaming, but that depends on the use case.

I have been messing around with AI models for last couple of years and that is very much VRAM and GPU dependent.

It also helps a lot if you want to edit family videos and such as well.

Xbox Series was growing too until it wasn't. It was because everything was hard to find, basically everything was selling out.

AMD and Nvidia have both cited decreasing GPU sales for gaming cards.

Again, it was about availability. People were buying Xbox Series S and X because they couldn't find PS5s...

It's less than 10% what that percentage ends up being is entirely up to benchmarking. It could be as little as 5 or 6 percent.

Man, Nvidia is suffocating the PS5 Pro with the 5090 before the PS5 Pro even launch.

I'm leaning towards a 5090 purchase. It's going to be amazing and terrible at the same time, let's go! I wonder what sort of delay in delivery we'll be looking at this time. Feels like AI/LLM crowd will be all over this. I wonder if it could be a similar situation to when crypto mining was at it's peak.

As a casual observer, I'm very interested in DLSS 4. Correct me if I'm wrong but was DLSS 3 released when the 4000 series was unveiled? DLSS 3's big thing was frame gen and I'm very interested in seeing what this 'surprise' is as it could be the next big AI tech that sets the future for games and consoles. If they can kickstart technology that can generate frames from thin air, I'm curious what others things they could get this next series to generate.
Is this thread worthy? Guessing the next locked in feature?

You overestimate how many people are going to leave their PC's behind to buy a $700 dollar console.

No, Sony actually positioned the Pro horribly. If someone merely wants to upgrade their PC, they will generally upgrade their GPU because even a modest CPU runs games well these days. If you have a PC and ~$700 to spare, you take the $700 GPU (4070S-4070 Ti) over the Pro 100% of the time.

The Pro might convince people who were considering building a PC to stick to console but even then, the 4070 is $550 and a whole system built around it should cost $900-1000. The value proposition of the Pro doesn’t look that appealing even in that situation.

I think it’s clear as day that Sony realizes that PC and consoles are separate markets and that they won’t convince most PC users to move to consoles, so price isn’t a huge factor for those customers. They might as well make bank off the back of hardcore console enthusiasts with a $700 machine.

Nope, I don’t think it’s too far fetched to think people will buy a PS5 pro over a new PC or GPU because a lot people who game on PC also have a PS5 so their digital library plus day one first party games could be a reason people go for a PS5 pro over a new pc/gpu.

The one main factor you’re missing is first party games and GTA 6. On PC, you have to wait years to get some games especially first party Sony games.

That’s more than enough of a reason people will get a PS5 pro over a PC. I think Sony played it smart with the strategy for the ps5 pro because at the end of the day your going to spend way more to get a PC that can do 4K with ray tracing at 60fps on new games.

I just watched the video. He clearly explains that NVIDIA has done this before where they are planning higher prices pre-release, then when they see the reaction from the public they change their mind at the last minute or even just after launch. He gave examples of where that's happened in the past. Makes sense that this could be the case again this time. Jensen has consistently pushed the pricing past the point of reasonable and only backed off when gamers are very negative.

The price listed for the 5090 has been expected by just about everybody. The 4090 was crazy expensive, yet it still seemed to sell more than most of us thought it would. The price for the 5080 is what seems so out of whack. They had a tough time selling the 4080 at $1200 and had to drop it down to $1k. I don't see them getting many takers at $1,500, even if the performance is better than we expect at half the specs of the 5090. The target audience for the 5080 will be 3000 series owners who skipped the 4000 series. I don't think many 3080/3080 Ti owners are going to be in for that price. Especially not with 16GB of RAM.

PC gamers don’t especially care about PlayStation exclusives. Sony wasn’t porting them at all back then and they weren’t moving to PlayStation. Why would they care now when they’re porting them to PC?

GTA VI is one game and we know it’s coming to PC anyway. Only a small percentage will go get a PlayStation for one game, especially knowing full well that it’s also coming to PC probably in a year. They didn’t move en masse to consoles after GTA V. They won’t after GTA VI.
That’s more than enough of a reason people will get a PS5 pro over a PC. I think Sony played it smart with the strategy for the ps5 pro because at the end of the day your going to spend way more to get a PC that can do 4K with ray tracing at 60fps on new games.
No, it isn’t. You console people are seriously deluded and it’s hilarious how detached you are from the PC market. You were legitimately thinking Sony’s games would make a killing on PC and some were even stupid enough to believe Sony was genius for delaying their games for 2 years because they were so good that this would entice PC players to buy a PlayStation instead of waiting. How did that work out? There are thousands upon thousands of games on PC. Far more than anyone has time to play, so a handful of games won’t move the needle.

Furthermore, you’re underestimating the fact that PC gamers already built a library on Steam and old games on PC can be bought for $10 or less. You move to PlayStation and your gaming only span two generations with most older games not being available and if they are, they’re remastered for a lot more money.

The PS5 Pro doesn’t appeal to PC gamers whatsoever. It’s too weak for graphics and performance enthusiasts and too expensive for the budget conscious. It’s a console marketed at hardcore console enthusiasts. Not to mention that a huge part of console gaming’s appeal, used and physical game, are hidden behind that $80 disc drive. Otherwise, enjoy browsing the PS Store and seeing remasters for $40 when you can get them on PC for $10. And have a laugh when you wanna play GTA VI online but are met with a nice screen that you need to pay for PS+.

The Pro has been received poorly by console gamers and you think it does anything for PC gamer? Time to get out of your PlayStation bubble.

Nope, I don’t think it’s too far fetched to think people will buy a PS5 pro over a new PC or GPU because a lot people who game on PC also have a PS5 so their digital library plus day one first party games could be a reason people go for a PS5 pro over a new pc/gpu.

They already got a PS5...so one less reason to get a Pro? Actually, that's one huge reason not to care about the Pro at all.

Huh? You are comparing a whole GPU to an APU if that was a discrete component. The bulk of the expense from the Pro is coming from its APU. If the Pro was an discreet part on PC,why would you compare the GPU to an APU if a theoretical APU that big gave the same to similar performance to one component?

Did you read the post I was replying to? It's about upgrading a PC vs getting a Pro. If you have a PC that you can upgrade at the moment, most PC gamers would go for a more powerful GPU like a 4070S/4070 Ti instead of buying a Pro. The appeal of the Pro dies because those GPUs are faster than a PS5 Pro's GPU and that upgraded PC would generally perform better. So why would a PC gamer opt to pay $700 for a weaker machine?

The Pro would make a lot more sense for someone considering PC gaming. It's either build a new machine for $900-1000 that matches the Pro or get a Pro for $700. For someone upgrading, it doesn't even make sense because it's effectively a downgrade.
