According to a reliable leaker, Square Enix may be preparing to reveal some Parasite Eve news soon, potentially during the February 12 State of Play presentation. Fans have been eager for a remake or remaster of the classic horror RPG for years, as Parasite Eve has remained a fan-favorite title for nearly three decades.
Released for the PlayStation in 1998 and produced by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Parasite Eve quickly made history by becoming Square's first M-rated title. The game was inspired by the 1995 Japanese sci-fi horror novel of the same name and follows Aya Brea, a New York City police officer, as she attempts to stop Eve, a woman planning to wipe out the entire human race through spontaneous human combustion. With a particularly haunting soundtrack by Kingdom Hearts composer Yoko Shimomura and a cinematic feel, many feel that Parasite Eve is due for a remake, and a recent post implies that this may be imminent.

Xun, a prominent and often reliable leaker on the A9VG forums (and appearing often on ResetEra) recently shared an image detailing the State of Play's February 12 air date, though the title of the image gave users pause. Translated, the image's name seems to be "the hypnotic soprano," which seems to be an allusion to Parasite Eve's opera-singing antagonist. The image, which has since been deleted, also featured a square piece of tofu with the letter "e" embedded in it, a clear reference to Square Enix. While a new Parasite Eve title may seem like a lot to hope for at this month's State of Play, rumors about the IP have continued to spread for years, and it may not be beyond the realm of possibility.
