Rumor: Parasite Eve Announcement Could Be Coming Soon

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I just hope it still takes place in 1998. I don’t want it to take place in a world with smartphones and social media and shit.
A Thousand time yes.
The Remake/birth combat systems could actually be adapted pretty well for Parasite Eve

Or even Vagrant Story, dare I dream...
Not sure how that would work unless she shoots like Barret, how that mechanic would be in a RE2 Remake style I'm not sure, definitely possible but how would it feel.

It needs to be an actual remake. None of this HD remaster like souls reaver, it’s just too old.

I agree. From a graphics perspective, it reminds me of the OG Resident Evil where you can barely make out the characters.

Definitely needs to be a remake. But either way I wouldn't mind playing the franchise again.

I would love this! I played the original years ago on the PlayStation Vita, and that game holds up! I’m not one to invest too much time on older games, but Parasite Eve is still a blast.
seriously: you love parasite eve? buy a vita. the game's never looked better...

If they ever wish to revive the IP please do a Parasite Eve 1 remake or at least use the semi-RPG system to develop a sequel of sort, it's very interesting and there is a lot of room to expand it further. Don't do a resident evil rip off.

Oh and.... Don't do another 3rd birthday please lol.

I hope whatever they're doing includes base remasters of the first two games. Something on par with this would be perfect. It doesn't need a lot of work. Get the pre-rendered backgrounds to 4K and redo the character models and it's good to go imo.

According to a reliable leaker, Square Enix may be preparing to reveal some Parasite Eve news soon, potentially during the February 12 State of Play presentation. Fans have been eager for a remake or remaster of the classic horror RPG for years, as Parasite Eve has remained a fan-favorite title for nearly three decades.

Released for the PlayStation in 1998 and produced by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Parasite Eve quickly made history by becoming Square's first M-rated title. The game was inspired by the 1995 Japanese sci-fi horror novel of the same name and follows Aya Brea, a New York City police officer, as she attempts to stop Eve, a woman planning to wipe out the entire human race through spontaneous human combustion. With a particularly haunting soundtrack by Kingdom Hearts composer Yoko Shimomura and a cinematic feel, many feel that Parasite Eve is due for a remake, and a recent post implies that this may be imminent.

Xun, a prominent and often reliable leaker on the A9VG forums (and appearing often on ResetEra) recently shared an image detailing the State of Play's February 12 air date, though the title of the image gave users pause. Translated, the image's name seems to be "the hypnotic soprano," which seems to be an allusion to Parasite Eve's opera-singing antagonist. The image, which has since been deleted, also featured a square piece of tofu with the letter "e" embedded in it, a clear reference to Square Enix. While a new Parasite Eve title may seem like a lot to hope for at this month's State of Play, rumors about the IP have continued to spread for years, and it may not be beyond the realm of possibility.
Awesome!!

Great games but way too short.

Thats its only fault
Yes that is what I also the criticism of the game reviewers from magazines in the past like Gamepro, EGM, and PSM that it is too short. But after finishing the game, there is the NG+ the Chrysler building as additional content and its very challenging but fun. But I hope in the remake it will have that silent hill2 remake treatment to add more locations and scenes.

I would get rid of the real time basic attacks and the time between ATB charges would just be for evading and positioning, with all the attacks/items/etc costing a bar of ATB. Essentially the same as the original system.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I used to wish Parasite Eve by PlatinumGames (Vanquish like gameplay) but at the current state of Platinum… Maybe not

YESS YESSSSS GIVE ME MY 4K new york

Vagrant Story snd this are the type of games Square has been neglecting. Those one off original IPs have been missing for nearly three decades.

Eh, Items shouldn’t cost ATB. This should function instantaneously with carrying capacity as the limiting factor instead. Special Moves outside of PE/PP, and assisted/synergistic gunfire should drawn upon ATB. PE/PP having its own moveset entirely.

I’m big on games splitting up and/or separating mechanics each with its own metric for use.

For the love of god don't be another remilk.

I'm ok with a light remaster of the first 2, maybe square can do that without completely fucking up.

Yes but they will fuck this up 100% this way.

Best is HD-2D. I keep saying it, but it keeps the original spirit in tact and adds so much QoL and good gameplay that you soon forget about the game not having TLOU2 graphics. I didn't notice in Star Ocean 2, I was completely hooked.
I was thinking the capcom resident evil remake approach. Those are remakes, but respectful to the original. Not just a rerelease with double resolution texture pack.

All 3, remade. I dont care what anyone says about 3rd Birthday, they have the opportunity to bring it in line with the first two. Just remake all 3.

For any generation above PS3 here’s why: Too much of a financial risk.

Risk taking in recent times led them to bombs like The Quiet Man, Babylon’s Fall, and Forspoken.

Now their biggest recent risk this gen was Visions of Mana and that’s it. Everything else has been remasters, very small amounts of popular I.P. sequels, or a remake project.

It’s why I’m hopeful they will eventually port or remaster some of their lesser known works to modern platforms, like Crystal Bearers, Tobal, Ergheiz, or DQ Swords.

Meh

I’m getting old and like familiarity with franchises

If remakes help the new generation discover these games, worlds and stories then great

A fan made a PE concept, but this is perfect if you ask me. Otherwise we always have the PSN versions and our Vita.

This is one of those type of rumors that even tho are likely BS, I would desperately want to be true. PE (and PE2) would make for great remake adaptation. And 3rd Birthday could get its redemption arc down the line, too.

Again, not a lot of faith this rumor ends up true, but it'd be a welcomed surprise. I was thinking long ago, SIE could still engage in codevelopment/co-funding with publishers like SE on properties like PE as exclusives and such, while they look to bring IP like modern FF titles multiplatform (likely through more Day 1 PC and Switch 2 support).

I mean, it's an IP exclusive to PS systems anyway, it's legacy & fandom are there, it's a great concept and still stands out in the market (arguably even more now than back in the day). I also assume it'd cost a lot less to remake than a game like FF VII.

Win-win all around.

I played Parasite Eve 2 as a teen when I found it randomly in a super market, got some fond memories of it.

But I also remember when Bring me the Horizon dropped their Parasite Eve song close to another State of Play, therefor I'll stay cautious to this rumour.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

The biggest problem with bringing the 3rd Birthday to modern platforms is the same problem they had adapting Crisis Core to the PS5 - it looks amazing, but it's still very much a PSP game in terms of level design. The 3rd Birthday also had very small connected play zones that were adapted to be part of the story / play mechanics (so that people wouldn't notice they were so limited). These would be difficult to wrench out without doing a 100% remake of the game and changing its mechanics.

By comparison, it'd be easy to remake the first two games because they just used pre-rendered backgrounds that were connected and would be easy to either keep the same system or (even better) make it a full 3D environment you can move through. They could easily do this without changing the mechanics or story of the game itself.
