Sailor Moon Crystal 08

Hm...

Lots of Sailor V in this episode, and she says she is
Princess Serenity, eh?
But that's not right.

And they kept things hidden from Luna as well? Interesting.

--They cut out Usagi telling her dad she is Sailor Moon

--They cut out Kunzite visiting his dead comrades, for obvious reasons.

--Kunzite challenging and fighting Minako solo was not in the comic. It seems they are either hinting at
the Kunzite/Venus pairing, or Kunzite's connection with Mamoru
.

--The "Usagi befriended us even though we were rejects" was a new scene and was a nice touch.

--Overall I don't think they did a good job with Minako here. They got her serious Sailor V part down well but they failed to capitalize on her bubbly personality in her regular form.

Enjoyed this episode of Crystal a lot. Next episode (damn this stupid biweekly schedule. :/ ), all will be revealed.

I do wonder if they will go all the way with the
shitennou and their identities since Venus made a mention of it in this episode with Kunzite

Also, Sailor Moon made a move for once on Mamoru. I didn't expect that lol.

Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 8:

So at last we get the showcase in Minako and she fares much better then the original anime series, but then again it would truly be a marvel for them to fuck up as badly as they did with Minako in Sailor Moon Season 1. Still, the problems with this Minako are endemic to the larger problems with the overall production. I can understand why they wanted to ditch some of the pointless comedy added to the original anime series but Sailor Moon was never meant to be super serious all the god damned time.
This time around they nailed much of the tragic and lonely side of Minako. The seasoned veteran who has been training and guiding them all this time who has trouble integrating into the team. What they failed to add was the fact that she isn't some kind of brooding Batman character, in spite of all the shit she had to walk through she remains a very upbeat character who has dreams and goals outside of her mission, like becoming a pop idol.
In case it was not evident, Minako is my favorite of the inner scouts and while it is good that they have retained the majority of elements that made her such an interesting character but they still fall short of the mark. Oh yea, other stuff happened, don't really care quite honestly.

It appears Yohei Obayashi is our Artemis. I went through the Crystal tag on twitter and someone had an ANN link to it.

I think I'm gonna prefer his previous voices, judging from that episode.

I loved this episode but the cliffhanger was so mean, I knew what to expect because it was the same in the manga but somehow I still hoped they'd who a little bit more, I hate waiting two weeks. *aargh*

I don't mind them not showing Minako's goofy side, I don't think it would have fit in this episode, she had just revealed herself to the others and wanted to complete her mission alone, it made sense that she'd push everything else aside to be more serious at the moment.

Oh wait, yeah, just noticed! It's November that's the next long month.

They handled this one really well. I wish they hadn't cut out the stuff they did (they even took out V telling everyone to protect Moon), but at least the stuff they added made sense this time.

I was hoping for an extension of the park scene. I always wondered how it would end :lol

As someone who has never read the manga or watch the old anime cause I didn't have cable in my house to enjoy CN and Toonami so far this is good for me. I can understand why most are disappointed.

Interestingly, I'm coming to a Halloween party on the 31st as Tuxedo Kamen. So when I get home it'll be the 1st and I'll be watching the latest Crystal episode as Tuxedo Kamen.

I'm at Lotteria (don't go there, it's terrible) reading this thread and spoiling myself on purpose. Gonna watch the episode when I get home!

I like Minako's new character, but half of this episode draaaaaaged until Kunzite showed up.

Wasn't his Dumuzid BEEEEEAM blue in the preview?

I feel like this show would be generic as hell if not for it being Sailor Moon.

And I really dig Usagi's boldness. Get em!

So what does everyone think of the new Artemis voice?

I kinda hoped Toei would have brought back the original voice actors like they did with Dragon Ball Kai, but I've been fine with most of the performances so far...until this one. I guess I'll wait to call judgement on it, but it doesn't sound like it'll leave much room for comedic Artemis.

I enjoyed the episode and thought it was one of the better ones. I just hope... that the other senshi don't just become side characters :/ After someone on here mentioned that Rei has been getting less lines and air time, I've beginning to notice too :/ Well, at least during the Black Moon arc they will
all get their own episodes again... and then get abducted by the UFO and won't show up for a while >_>...

I never thought I'd see the day where people (not you specifically Curler, just people in general) are talking about Rei being shafted and Mamoru getting too much attention in a Sailor Moon cartoon.

Well lets see if they do he
La Smoking Bomba
justice.

The original anime isn't my first point of reference nor was it the way I got into this franchise, but I'm sure context is lost for you if you haven't read the comic.

artemis's voice is seriously WAY too deep, I actually kinda hate it.

I like Minako though, she was always my second fave girl after Mako-chan. Too bad she kinda gets shafted in that she doesn't even do anything against Kunzite unlike the other senshi in their debuts (well except maybe ami because lol).

the episode was okay, not the best but not the worst, in the middle.
is the reason minako didn't say venus power because of keeping up the charade of sailor v/serenity?
her transformation was nice though

New World Uniform Operation figure announced (Megahobby):

Will be available sometime in 2015, and up for preorder soon.
You'll be able to buy it from physical stores and the webstore in Japan.

Isn't it cute?!

Actually, yes, it is, which is not a word I would use in conjunction with Crystal art.

It's not a Crystal design though. She's not wearing her new brooch, for instance. If you're familiar with other New World Uniform Operation figures, you can see that they followed the same style with her.

My favorite release so far are the Atsumete figures. :3

Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 9:

While I have many misgivings about this incarnation of Sailor Moon, I will still say that since they are using the manga as a much closer blueprint, this show has some of the better characters. Maybe that is cheating a little but at least I don't have any dumb comedy spots undercutting the drama and melancholy. Also, it is nice to see that her grief and tears are borne out of genuine sadness for the events that are transpiring instead of her being s selfish brat. If I have not stated it lately, I really fucking hate 1990s Anime Usagi, and it is refreshing to see a much better version in action. Although I am kind of sad that Mamoru will never see the superior costume in the version, ah well. Anyway, the episode was alright, felt like it lingered on the sadness for a bit too long. Also, good to see that Sailor Venus has her proper place this time around.
Minako was the actual leader of the Scouts and indeed she will be the second in command if they hold true to the script.

Also I dislike how Kunzite needed Beryl's help to fight the Senshi. PGSM Kunzite would not be proud.

Outside of that it was a decent episode.

The Shitennou got shafted in the manga, that has always been one of my major gripes with this arc. The 90s anime did a better job with them, and PGSM did an amazing job with them.

Ugh, Kuzite's motivation was changed.

Based on Usagi's speech at the end, I really have a feeling they're going to cut
her suicide
later on :\

I was expecting the Rektoning but all that got rekt were my feels!

So now will things get rekt? Find out 2 weeks in the episode, Luna's Logic!

Be sure to tune in!
