SimCity a disaster for you? Take a look at Cities: Skylines (not related to CitiesXL)

So, umm...something happened last night when I finished streaming. I can't say what just yet, because I need to talk to the publisher first, but I might have some VERY good news later on today.

There's an always online system that let's me have sc2013 like multi-player?! And I could never log in when I want to play?

I'm sure I read posts from people in the UK (on other forums) saying they could buy without using a VPN. I guess they changed things. :-(

Hmm. I pre-ordered from there a while ago, but now if I try to add it to my cart, I get this error. I hope the key I get will work here. If I even get a key. If they cancel my order, it will probably be too late to get the GMG deal.

I read (in one of the Paradox dev diaries?) that after they patch in tunnels then farms are up high on the list of things they want to improve. They kind of added them late and they aren't where they want them to be right now. At least they are in though, I hated how Simcity 5 didn't even include farms at all.

With the way pre-order sales for this seem to high, I'm hoping Paradox gives this the post-release support other titles of theirs like Crusader Kings 2 have received. Several years of patches with free content, and multiple expansion DLCs would be perfect.

They've said that's the plan.

They're making all utilities agent-based? :p

This game looks really neat. I've watched a bunch of videos, and if possible I want to try making a pedestrian / transit focused city. I hope they don't force cars on you.

So whats the general consensus on this? Is it better than the latest Sim City? My biggest problem with Sim City was it's focus on multiplayer and how small they cities were.

Edit: Whoops, just realized it's not out yet. There have been streams on twitch for so long that I thought it was already out.

I know its probably been asked, but is there any other difference between the normal edition and the deluxe edition besides the 5 extra buildings the art book and soundtrack?

As a person that's only interested in playing the game.. The extra €10 doesnt seem worth it. Is there anything else in missing here?

As the creator of the OT, I should get one *hinthint*

=P

If I would have known ahead of time, I would have told the publisher that I have a stream so that I could also get a code. They seemed to have given them out to relatively small channels but I have no idea how to go about doing something like that. The fact that it's just sitting in my library while all of these other people are playing is killing me :(

You could look at it as kicking a little extra their way as a reward for a job done especially well, but from your use of € I'm gonna guess tipping isn't part of your social repertoire :p

I'm sure the Paradox community manager said that Nuuvem's keys aren't region locked for activation, so you should be fine as long as they don't cancel your order.

Don't play with our emotions like that. I need this game.

Wow, I was just watching Quill's stream video below:

Look at how big his city is! And it's only sitting on 3 tiles right now, he can still build on 6 more! God Damn this game has me excited. I don't think I've been this wound up for a game in years. Finally a modern city builder that gives us the room to be creative but yet gives us the performance that a modern PC can provide.

Oooh controversial haha. As a student I feel like i deserve some bang for my buck. I'll leave ye rich folk to do the tipping :D.

Game looks excellent. Wasn't even on my radar till I caught some let's plays the other night!

That's good to know. Maybe they just stopped future sales because too many people were buying it from there.

They'll probably release those extra buildings as DLC, or offer an 'Upgrade to Deluxe' option at some point.

Since they have said that they like Paradox's DLC model and if CK2 or EU4 are anything to go by then yes.

The deluxe "upgrade" might be a "Deluxe edition/some fancy name -pack" instead of a proper "upgrade" button in the store though.

Not like they have never done a ton of DLC before =P

Eh,like I said before, if the game is as good as it appears to be then I'll be buying all of their DLC just to support it. I'll happily throw my money their way. I've always said I'd buy a modern 3D Simcity 4 for $100 and I meant it!!!

So yesterday I was looking at the parodox forum, looking for future buildings modding (theres people already making things).
Something I didnt like was that there was already a thread that was called something like "You stole that from me!", and people talking inside seem to be shitty simcity 4 modders talking about dependencies already and similar ego shit.
Fuck those guys if they try to fuck up the modding community like they did with SC4.

Well, I went ahead and pre-ordered. I know I stated I was going to be cautious, and I think I pretty much have been. After the reviews, streams, and/or Let's Plays and what so call you, I think it's a pretty safe investment. I think it will be the proper city-builder that so many city-building fans have wanted. Of course, I'm expecting a few bugs and kinks along the way, but I don't think Paradox or the development team are pulling any wool over our eyes.

Having watched ~14 hours of Quill18 play it and haven't seen any real bugs is promising. Then again it's not the release build but I'm not exactly worried.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
Also, I noticed how horribly bland perfectly straight and square city layouts are looking.

I thought Flabaliki's city was pretty neat.

What's cool is that the island might not even need a highway and could make do with a single rail connection.

Man this game is looking better and better everytime I see pictures, watch streams or on YouTube!

Stupid (but funny) question. Do the population get sick if they drink their own poop?

I remember devs talking about it, haven't seen anyone try it though. Pollution (ground) also makes people sick it seems.

- edit -
And no more junior for me it seems, yay.

YES, it happened to BdoubleO's city, he put his water inlet right next to his sewer pipe, and his entire city got sick and started dying. It was actually damn hilarious!

He probably saw the "Marvelous Monorails" DLC Banner in the Menu....

(which is a DLC for Cities in Motion 2 and a placeholder). Or maybe he saw a real DLC placeholder...

After 50 hours...
Very bad aliasing
Very ugly buldings design
Awesome gameplay (the best city builder to date?)

50 hours??? Have you slept in the past two days???

Good sign though!

P.S. I hate you and your ability to play right now by the way! :)

I skipped the Simcity fiasco, was so disappointed. I have pre-purchased this game when it was on sale through GMG. I am ready to sink cim time into this game.
