Done just that but one of the packages fits (stretched) so no tape required on mine - looks like shit though.

Any UK screen protector recommendations yet?

This is what the first pages of this thread read like.

A) This is clearly a made up issue, the dock doesn't scratch the Switch AT All, because it is glass

B) Even if it WAS plastic instead of glass, it still wouldn't scratch it if you could stop being so hamfisted for once in your life, it's not happening to me so what are you even talking about

C) Even if it DID scratch it, it's no big deal and you probably deserve it, stop whining you dorks

yea this. i mean it still does suck, but if you want to be as sure as possible just glue thin strips of microfiber to the inner area, but if youre careful enough its fine

I've 'switched' the tablet probably a dozen times and I can't see any scratches - I'm just using the screen protector that came with the official case. Though, I was cautious from the start because I didn't trust the quality of the dock, so I always pushed backward a little when switching.

This is still unbelievably frustrating, though. So much of this console is of decent quality and well thought out, then they go and compromise the product with something so integral to the whole point of the system.

Nintendo should address this immediately by offering free screen protectors and some padding for those stupid plastic bits. As for people who already have scratched screens... they should offer replacements. Expectations: launch a revised model this holiday.

Being an early adopter is a rough time, but oversights like this are a joke.

Totally agree. I accept a great deal as an early adopter but every manufacturer has got to realise that early adopters are a critical bunch.

I can't believe that Nintendo don't know about this issue so is the answer that (i) they couldn't change the dock design in time or (ii) they don't think it's a big issue as the scratches are outside the main focus of the user or (iii) they don't care?

Did you guys see the drop test video Kotaku posted? It took 11 drops before the console stopped working. The controllers took the most damage and one stopped functioning. The screen never shattered and just experienced scratches and nicks. Regardless though, the thing is built pretty tough.

Which is great because I installed it last night and the kids picked it up while I was still asleep this morning and were running around the house playing on Zelda.

They only came to me when the low battery warning came on to complain that the battery was crap.

This is ridiculous, why did they even decide that the screen must be covered while docked?!

Thank god I decided to wait, the Switch seems extremely half-baked. Sounds like they barely did any testing or quality control which is crazy

Hm. I've got a piece of black cloth that came with my Mac (for cleaning the screen) that seems to fit perfectly in terms of width. Think it will work? Too thin?

I ended up doing what that one poster did with the styrofoam sheets. Looks ghetto as hell, but at least I don't have to spend money on a screen protector!

I don't understand why they didn't put that kind of fabric, material instead of fucking plastic ?

I think they felt the need to cover the screen to ensure people don't think it's another Wii U.

But yeah a more open dock would have been technically better.

I taped a thin microfiber cloth inside facing the screen side of the dock. I hope that's enough to save it while I search for a decent screen protector. I don't think I have any scratches yet but the last time I used the dock before adding the cloth it made a terrible scraping sound even though I was trying to be super careful.

Nintendo are absolutely amateur. What a joke.

As someone said it's to shield the Switch so it stays attached and more importantly to get the joycons removal function pretty easy to use.

It makes sense but they should have just put some soft material to prevent scratches.
I also would have liked Something that holds the Switch better, maybe not Something as prmeium as an hybric PC (Surface Book) but it moves way too much Inside the dock

Does anyone have the "hybrid cover". I wanted to get hat anyways, instead of a screen protector. If it could still fit in the dock with that on I'd be pleased.


EDIT: actually, scratch that (hardy har har). No way this fits in the dock with the cover attached.

I'd love a thin easy to remove screen cover like the iPad Smart Cover.

I did something similar. It turns out that MagicFiber microfiber cloths are the very same width as the dock, so that's my stopgap measure until the tempered glass protectors linked earlier arrive.

I swear I read a preview by someone who saw the dock that said there was "soft material" inside the dock to prevent this kind of thing, but here we are.

I hate having screen protectors, never had one since years on my phones and 3DS XL, never got scratches.

So if only the dock scratches it, I guess I solved the problem with an Nvidia 3D Vision glasses cloth ^^

So glad Amazon didn't make its stated delivery for my screen protector (it's Wednesday, supposed to be yesterday) but Best Buy got my Switch, so basically I don't undock it for a week.

Eh, it seems to be doing the job. I just really dislike screen protectors. I can never put them on right, and my OCD acts up if I notice any dust/debris underneath the film.

The Switch doesn't always fit down perfectly in the dock, you're eyeballing it when you put it in, which means you often slide to the side.
