Yes. It was brought up why she, the actress, started shaving her head. I'm not going to spend time defending her because this isn't my fight. However, I do find it funny that we will get 10 pages of some posters here being offended that she spoke out telling us how she should not have been offended. Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the ones popping in for internet fun. Most of us do it. I am talking about the ones that are truly upset and offended over a four-minute video.

GI jane was an awesome character.. she was a beautiful straight woman with a relationship . .. who was put on a fucked up situation and had to endure a lot of shit to become better and be able to grow and could barely keep up with ther males counterparts even in the end... great fucking movie..

Im no expert but i think history with those games has shown it doesn't quite end with looks. The horizon series might be the only one were people got on Aloy due to her lookss (which I had no problem with actually, sure shes uglier than usual, who gives af) but other games certainly introduced other stuff (mostly 'opinions') in their games.
Time will tell.

As a visible minority, the thing I dislike the most is token diversity. You can make the argument that a majority of previous characters were white males. That's fine, but the diversity efforts promoted by the big companies in general have not helped to increase inclusion and acceptance of diversity but instead to increase animosity towards minorities. First and foremost, diverse characters are often forced to wear multiple hats. For example, they're a visible minority and lgbtq. They could be a visible minority and disabled in some way. There many manifestations of this behavior that come across as "shoe horning" characters into place for inauthentic reasons.
The second problem with diversity attempts is that the character's whole personality is either a stereo type or diversity is their entire character. Now this is not to say that these type of people don't exist but they're not representative of the minority group at large. As a minority, when you see yourself represented in media, you can be sure to come across all the things listed above. In many ways, it's likely that you won't feel any connection to the character and it'll feel like a caricature representation of your minority group.
Again, I wish people would make more nuanced arguments instead of useless images like the one above. When studios actually start writing characters that don't have the problems listed above, then a real discussion can be had. Despite the differences in race, culture, and beliefs, there are many threads that bind us together as humans. Diversity in many ways is being able to connect despite differing backgrounds, belief sets, etc. In games, the opposite usually occurs and diversity only serves to fragment rather than join.

That’s not how logic works. These are entirely different products. Pinning the reception purely on the choice of the protagonist is silly. Outlaws pre-release gameplay and previews were already being condemned as ‘boring’ and ‘so-so’.
How many Sony first party single player, third person story driven games have you played that had a character creator?

I don't know! But... does it really matter? They either feared that the reception was going to be bad or the reception was so bad they had to disable the comment section.
At that point a dev should ask themselves: "who am I creating this product for?". Because yeah, when it comes to art anyone should be able to create whatever they like, but in many cases art are also products that have to be sold to the public and videogames in particular are super expensive to make.
I'm not sure about what I want out of this game. On one hand it'd be cool to see it flop and ND being liberated from Drunkman, but on the other I'm sure those devs have put a fuckton of work into the game and probably deserve a success.

People keep missing the point. It's not about a female MC, we are perfectly fine with that. The problem is that we went from 8 to 80. Every single fking western game has a ugly female MC to the point that it stinks. A war is declared against males MC like the post from this "actress" shows. The problem here for this devs is that, either they like it or not, the majority of gamers are young males, so it's not a good idea to pick a fight against the consumer.
