Split between Disc and Digital will probably be 40/60 or something like that.
I can see them taking the same approach as this gen, except more emphasis on Digital compared to this gen.

It's already stagnant. There hadn't even been any growth for 9 months in 2022. It's (near) hitting it's plateau.

The gloom and doom and MS going third party narrative has been going forever now. I am pretty positive that was purposely said by MS to make themselves look dire in the situation for the FTC to give them the greenlight for ABK. Have you not noticed that? They been playing "pity me" to get their ways, it's just 4D chess, not much else.

No doubt in my mind that this gen was meant as a transitional generation, where MS is trying to move over to game streaming and leave consoles.
But you can't just suddenly do so, as a platform-holder, you'd have to shift the entire market.
They are trying and as they're losing market share in the console space, on top of GamePass becoming stagnant, they're getting desperate and start buying everything left and right to force the industry to play by their rules.
It's all there, even Spencer conceded to the console wars and went as far as stating that 'Xbox as a brand is untenable without the mobile market'.
I don't understand how people are so obtuse to the facts and label those who point out these facts as 'fanboys' or something similar.

Hopefully they’ll think twice about the design of the actual system and make something that’s not the size of a building.
Other than that I don’t really care as long as the games are good (although that is also a concern of mine considering their GAAS push which I have little interest in). I’m sure they’ll have the hardware to make things look/run great.

I used to be so fucking excited for Sony first party games but this gen is so fucking dull, it worst than Marvel taking over movie industry. If it wasn’t for 3rd party games I have no fucking reason to keep my PS5.

I hope that with PS6 that they just punt on the big, quarter billion dollar budget, focus grouped, need-to-sell 20M copies or else, AAA titles and divide their studios up into smaller teams. Smaller teams that will, overall, end up producing more content that is also more diverse. UE tools are getting to the point where you don't need 500 people and 6 years to produce a game with amazing visuals.
Actually more optimistic than I used to be. At least for the smaller teams/studios. The big AAA dev houses are cooked.

Several of the things you mention there are more software not hardware (nanite for example, as is in game AI and physics even though they could be accelerated with dedicated hardware but most devs arent even pushing AI or physics as is)

With use of AI, dev don't have to do much.
Mostly just training, which is done mostly by a computer anyway.

Isn't the PS5 already built around Nanite? Fully programmable geometry sharers and the hardware supporting them have been critical in allowing Nanite to function.

Why would you build hardware around nanite? It doesn't need specialist hardware and what if something better comes along, what if they suddenly recode it to be 10x performant and the hardware then doesn't work with it?
It's just way too specific. Now you can add hardware that benefits all engines including nanite if that is more to what you alluded to.

When I said hardware built around Nanite, I was talking about a console built around this Mark Cerny patent.
A TV screen divided in 4 for GPUs A, B, C, and D.
This patent also resembles RDNA4 imo.
Each AID (3 in total) houses a Command Processor, so it can at as 3 different GPUs or 1 GPU.

The more money MS pours into the division the more imperative it becomes that they establish a universal portal for gaming across every type of device that can connect to their services. This is, and has always been their vision.
They fail to see the distinctions between the various sub-markets within the gaming landscape; they believe that by offering "best in class" product across mobile, console and pc domains under the same unified banner it will make them dominant and unstoppable. Everything they do is geared to delivering this.
Problem is; nobody really wants this! Especially so when its not achieved in any sort of organic manner.
Console gamers don't see having access to mobile titles as much as a value add. PC gamers don't see having access to either/both the other categories as that big of a deal, its just more money per month for stuff they've already decided is not for them.
Sure, there are certain key titles that enjoy broad appeal across all areas (like Fortnite, or CoD) but that's not reflective of the entirety of gaming or the interests of gamers. Especially as the different interfaces offered are particularly suited/unsuited to particular styles and genres, so trying to munge them all together just results in inferior experiences when they are mis-matched.
Most importantly, because of these intrinsic differences in need and expectation growth of this unified service will always be slower than it "should" be. They are literally creating a thing that is inevitably going to end up as less than the sum of its parts because its incoherent.

Basically the same but few minor details between both so they can PR spin.
- Highly evolutionary design based on whatever mid-range Zen*+RDNA* IP is available at the time at appropriate cost/thermal envelope/packaging. PS6 will be a "PS5 Pro 2" basically.
- Digital only.
- Software-side will see new social-style features which will facilitate GaaS engagement across Console/Mobile/PC.
I'm kind of iffy on this one. If they are already trying to phase out the disc drive by having it optional , then I can see them start off next gen with that in mind. The question is if this is simply a "slim" ps5 or getting folks ready for the all digital future.
