There won't even be a next-gen Xbox.Well Xbox is going with a trash can design so Sony will probably do a dumpster design for superiority.

Adorably all digital? No.Especially if MS were to go all digital, I could see Sony using physical games options as a PR selling point.
Not gonna happen.Adorably all digital? No.
With us, it's Purely Physical.
Every major player is going full digital, the two consumers/people hanging on to physical releases isn't going to affect their success. As long as they dont go fully digital, they should be fine
I can't tell if you are serious. Have you not seen the slide where it says 2028 is a new gen platform?;There won't even be a next-gen Xbox.
Did you miss the news about MS ending Xbox if GamePass doesn't grow big enough outside of consoles by 2027?I can't tell if you are serious. Have you not seen the slide where it says 2028 is a new gen platform?;
No, i did not.Did you miss the news about MS ending Xbox if GamePass doesn't grow big enough outside of consoles by 2027?
It's already stagnant. There hadn't even been any growth for 9 months in 2022. It's (near) hitting it's plateau.
No doubt in my mind that this gen was meant as a transitional generation, where MS is trying to move over to game streaming and leave consoles. No, i did not.
If you seriously believe that then I don't know what to tell you. Yes, MS will shutdown Xbox after purchasing multiple studios and investing 80 bil for ABK. Give me a fucking break
The gloom and doom and MS going third party narrative has been going forever now. I am pretty positive that was purposely said by MS to make themselves look dire in the situation for the FTC to give them the greenlight for ABK. Have you not noticed that? They been playing "pity me" to get their ways, it's just 4D chess, not much else.
I see goal posts have now moved. End of discussion here for me, best wishes. No doubt in my mind that this gen was meant as a transitional generation, where MS is trying to move over to game streaming and leave consoles.
But you can't just suddenly do so, as a platform-holder, you'd have to shift the entire market.
They are trying and as they're losing market share in the console space, on top of GamePass becoming stagnant, they're getting desperate and start buying everything left and right to force the industry to play by their rules.
It's all there, even Spencer conceded to the console wars and went as far as stating that 'Xbox as a brand is untenable without the mobile market'.
I don't understand how people are so obtuse to the facts and label those who point out these facts as 'fanboys' or something similar.
I didnt move any goal posts. Everything has to do with GamePass and MS pulling out if it doesn't grow much larger outside of consoles.I see goal posts have now moved. End of discussion here for me, best wishes.
Imagine taking everything at face value and believing Phil.I can't tell if you are serious. Have you not seen the slide where it says 2028 is a new gen platform?;
- AMD GPU+CPU (same gen as the Xbox)
- High improvement in raytracing
- High improvement in real time global illumination
- High improvement in SSD speed
- Cerny's AI powered better than DLSS resolution and framerate upscaling up to 8K 240fps/Hz tvs
- Splittable DualSense now can produce smells, is designed for VR and to be attached to phones or tablets
- Hardware designed with PSVR3 in mind
- Single diskless SKU
- Full PS1+PS2+PS3+PS4+PS5+PSP+Vita+Minis+PSVR+PSVR2 BC including original digital and physical disks without needing to buy them again
- Optional disk drive unit that accepts PS1-PS5 disks + UMD reader + memory card reader to read PS1+PS2+PS3+PS4+PS5+PSP+Vita
- Many PS1/PS2/PSP/Vita games added to the PSN store
- Most recent wifi and bluetooth specs
- Buy a game once in PSN and play it crossbuy on PC, console, mobile, tv locally or (if you pay PS+ Premium) via cloud gaming
- PSN store on Windows and mobile
- Next gen PS cloud gaming on PS, PC, phones, tablets, tvs, etc.
- No 'power of the cloud' fantasy bullshit
I used to be so fucking excited for Sony first party games but this gen is so fucking dull, it worst than Marvel taking over movie industry. If it wasn’t for 3rd party games I have no fucking reason to keep my PS5.
It if was written in black and white on the internet, it 100% is going to happen.Did you miss the news about MS ending Xbox if GamePass doesn't grow big enough outside of consoles by 2027?
Several of the things you mention there are more software not hardware (nanite for example, as is in game AI and physics even though they could be accelerated with dedicated hardware but most devs arent even pushing AI or physics as is)Doesn't make sense talking about specs right now. Maybe 2026 the earliest, where we can get a better idea based on AMD hardware at that time.
Imo, they would still with AMD for both CPU and GPU though. AMD tech keeps getting better and better over the years.
Hardware features we can discuss though.
For me, some things I'd like to see,
- Full Raytracing / Path Tracing,
- Heavy AI influence (upscaling, in-game AI, physics, etc.)
- Nanite or similar on all game engines.
- Nanite but for pixels (if possible)
- Storage/RAM hybrid solution.
You can just look at the numbers though. It if was written in black and white on the internet, it 100% is going to happen.
Good afternoon 2% of people that own a PS5As long as they dont go fully digital, they should be fine
Should I have to mention the hardware is built around Nanite?Several of the things you mention there are more software not hardware (nanite for example, as is in game AI and physics even though they could be accelerated with dedicated hardware but most devs arent even pushing AI or physics as is)
Isn't the PS5 already built around Nanite? Fully programmable geometry sharers and the hardware supporting them have been critical in allowing Nanite to function.Should I have to mention the hardware is built around Nanite?
With use of AI, dev don't have to do much.
Mostly just training, which is done mostly by a computer anyway.
Why would you build hardware around nanite? It doesn't need specialist hardware and what if something better comes along, what if they suddenly recode it to be 10x performant and the hardware then doesn't work with it?Should I have to mention the hardware is built around Nanite?

Yeah this is 100% a deal breaker for me. My passion for gaming is dwindling anyway, due to the lack of games that interest me.As long as they dont go fully digital, they should be fine

When I said hardware built around Nanite, I was talking about a console built around this Mark Cerny patent. Why would you build hardware around nanite? It doesn't need specialist hardware and what if something better comes along, what if they suddenly recode it to be 10x performant and the hardware then doesn't work with it?
It's just way too specific. Now you can add hardware that benefits all engines including nanite if that is more to what you alluded to.
I'm kind of iffy on this one. If they are already trying to phase out the disc drive by having it optional , then I can see them start off next gen with that in mind. The question is if this is simply a "slim" ps5 or getting folks ready for the all digital future.Honestly, I don't think Sony goes all digital next generation. That is a big bold move, they will let someone else do it first. I imagine they will have some sort of physical drive available, either included or at a cost. Especially if MS were to go all digital, I could see Sony using physical games options as a PR selling point.

Gold? They’re not ending shit, but we can put a years gold bet on it for 2027 if you wish since we both know they’re not getting to 100m subs by then. Easy gold for you.
Yep, same with the next VR headset.I think it will be called "Playstation Next".
The Last of Us Part I: Definitive Edition
