Irrespective of what side of the fence you're on surely everyone can agree that a: Elon is a cunt and should be nowhere near government and b: The sheer shitshow that is happening daily is just diluting the prestige and respect that being the President of the US of fucking A comes with, i mean.. even you full on Magaheads have gotta agree that Heads of State should not be shilling cars like a fucking 2bit car dealer on the Whitehouse lawn of all things.. if you cant see the utter insanity of the President selling baseball caps, bibles and now fucking cars.. i don't know man.. this isn't the way global leaders should operate, they are meant to be above this shit

i'm not wishing anyone dead this time, i'm pointing out that Elon should be nowhere near your Government, it's such a clear breach of protocol when a private individual is getting government contracts switched over to his companies and firing people left right and center who are investigating him.. and asking how are the American people allowing this to happen? Its full on Russian mode of government, i'm also questioning the use of the Whitehouse and Presidential office for shilling cheap chinese tat...

to add: I know this is all Politics but its soooo beyond the norm for us people looking in at the madhouse from the outside world, it's hard not to be utterly flabbergasted at what's going on with our American cousins, we all knew you guys where a wee bit mad and patriotic but you also did what you felt was right and those values pretty much aligned with us over here in the Europe and the rest of the sane world but this... only a few months into this new administration and it seems like everything is imploding and getting crazier and crazier and were all thinking fucking hell... we have 4yrs of this... lol

All of this reminds me when Elon was smoking weed on Joe Rogan and saying he was taking the company private on Twitter. The stock was crashing and everyone was saying he was a nut job. Looking back that time period was the best buying opportunity in the world.

I think 3-5 years from now we are all going to wish we bought Tesla stock right at this moment.

Good luck with rolling back the clock and killing the dominant Chinese EV market.

Where’s the growth going to come from? a large part of the target market thinks Elon’s shitty. He’s been working round the clock to alienate many of his potential buyers in Western European markets, which are also getting flooded with Chinese EVs.

Maybe he’ll sell some in Russia?

Its not a "card" to show a degree of proportionality and rationality in thinking and argumentation!

I don't care which side is doing this, when its a foolish -and dangerous- mode of thinking.

Its all emotion, no logic. Basically people chasing a dopamine hit of self-righteous validation.

You cannot disregard the collateral damage, it has dire consequences in the long term.

It is not ‘foolish and dangerous’ for people to want to vote with their wallets.

I just saw the video where Trump was peddling Teslas by the White House like a salesman while Elon looks on. You got to admit, it looks pretty bizarre.

If I had $100K I'd go out and buy a Model S Plaid today. Fuck I want one just for the name of the engine.

There's no going back with Elon at the helm. He has ruined his reputation all over the world except with MAGA nutcases who also don't like this cars because 'EV sucks'.

Are you on a time out from somewhere else?
Chap the thing about Neogaf is all opinions are reasonably valid, just cause we think Elon is a cunt and Trump is Harbinger of Doom doesn't mean we're radical left lunatics from Reeetard ffs, i dare say the vast majority of us are all straight down the middle and dip our toes in the left and right depending on the issue

This is exactly the reason Trump was elected, people love this shit.
If it was a fictional TV drama we'd think it was ridiculous and over the top but unfortunately the madness isn't confined to the borders of the US like 99% of other countries.. it fucking seeps out and causes real pain to the rest of us

For these people there is only the woke crazies like on Reeee and the godly MAGAs. No inbetween. No common sense. Only black and white.

That's the people this administration loves.

just everything is black and white i.e. 'oh look USAID spend 10k dollars on a LGBTQ show in timbuktoo from a budget of 1 billion'. Close it all down because they must all be corrupt woke idiots.

People have short memories. Ron Baron is still bullish so I’m still bullish.

I keep adding to my BPTRX mutual fund. It also has a 17% holding in SpaceX now so if Tesla never recovers, the fund will probably still do well.

You gotta zoom out, this is a natural correction of an overvalued (and volatile) stock.

Tesla 12 months performance is still quite good, almost +30%, great against traditional car competition (Toyota, BMW, Mercedes and VW are all between -10 to -20%), and tech stocks (Apple +27%, Microsoft -8%, NVIDIA +18%, Amazon +12%, Alphabet +18%, Meta +21%) while losing against chinese electric car competition, namely Xiaomi and BYD.

You can always buy Ford and never make a profit.

IF they get the Robotaxi business off the ground big time. That‘s a BIG if. But even then, you can still wait until you see them succeed and only then buy. It takes time for the hype to pick up. See nVidia.

It is not ‘foolish and dangerous’ for people to want to vote with their wallets.

If other people get drawn into an issue and feel the consequences on their wallets, what do you think its going to do to their voting habits?

Is critical thinking really so hard?

And ultimately much as I support freedom of thought and action, it doesn't mean I have to sanction every choice made by people if in my view I find it was arrived at via ill-considered and/or reactionary reasons.

Proportionality would mean causing far more damage.

I don't agree with violence or property damage, but it's hard to blame people for taking any pressure release valve they can get to show their disdain for what's happening.

I prefer for issues to be decided using rule of law. When the process has been circumvented and rule of law is compromised, people can become sheep because they are not willing to play as dirty, or eventually fight back.

No one wants to live in the same system as Russia. Don't "oh no what about the rules" me as they take over.

Have we graduated to your incorrect definition of domestic terrorism yet?

Domestic terrorism is gutting branches of government with no authority. Destroying tons of food cause you're a pissy baby. Blocking $1 billion in food for low income folks. Manipulating markets to destroy wealth. Censoring press and imprisoning political rivals. Destroying health care. Villifying scientists.

If you have zero emotional intelligence or empathy then by all means argue against me

So I kinda liked Elon Musk back when he was just some rich nerd who built cars and spaceships, and smoked weed with Joe Rogan. I was even excited when he first bought Twitter because I was hoping it really would make the platform better. At some point though, and I don't know if it was due to inflated ego over people idolizing him, the guy just got progressively more unhinged and egotistical. He was never meant to be in politics, and he has demonstrated on many occasion that he's not a leader. His immature, hypocritical, and unhinged behavior has been incredibly off putting, and to be honest I'm quite sick of him. That doesn't mean I don't think he's capable of doing good and productive things, but the guy needs to go back and just do nerd shit.

This isn’t Reddit. Don’t turn this place into a domestic terrorist training forum.
Isn't the easiest solution to prevent further violence for Musk to step back, thereby eliminating the root cause of this violence? He will still be free to spout nonsense on his platform but Tesla will no longer be linked to that.

This is way easier to achieve than asking tens of millions of people to submit to brutal subjugation in the name of peace. As he repeatedly has called on for them to do.

Kinda reminds me of this quote from the great Peter Berg film, The KIngdom. I can't find a clip of of it, but here is the quote

"Not to go after criminals because they might try to harm you is really not a policy of the FBI. See, we try not to say uncle. We try."

Bowing to violence is what let antifa rum amok a few years back. It's what lets cartels come in and take over. It's what lets Islamic extremists dictate policy for the rest of us. Of course the folks getting their government cheddar cut off are gonna complain. Of course these billions are gonna go towards a widespread campaign against Elon. They have been honing this tactic for years. But once the $$$ to incite runs out, it will all go quiet.

if we had a government that cared about corruption, they might be asking some hard questions about stock manipulation. like why did musk say he would double u.s. production of tesla during this awful slump? and why is the white house doing car commercials.

Damn, what is his official position again?

Does US constitution allows this?

According to the administration, he's a special advisor... Not the head of DOGE... Some random woman is... A random woman we have yet to see and who has not been mentioned since.

No, the Constitution doesn't allow ANY of this!

Yes, it's article 2 - section 1 of the us constitution:
  • "The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America".

  • Role of the President:
The president, as the Chief Executive, is responsible for:
    • Enforcing laws passed by Congress.

    • Serving as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

    • Appointing key officials, including the Cabinet and heads of federal agencies.
  • The Cabinet and Other Agencies:
The President relies on a network of advisors and agencies to carry out the duties of the executive branch, according to the White House:.

  • Checks and Balances:
While the president holds significant power, the Constitution also establishes a system of checks and balances to prevent any single branch from becoming too powerful. For instance, Congress can impeach the president, and the judicial branch can review executive actions.
The president is the only representative who is elected nationwide. Anyone he appoints as shown completely lies within the executive and it's the only branch where the power in vested in a single office. Some but not all agencies however do require initial congressional approval, but they almost always (over 99%) go with the President's appointments.

Say what you will about DOGE. I’m sure there are some programs and jobs that are not essential and can be cut. But going on stage at CPAC with a chainsaw to symbolize the cuts while real people are losing their jobs is fucking retarded. He’s a retard. Somebody with a modicum of self awareness should be leading DOGE. He’s in over his head and is not at all qualified to be doing what he’s doing. He also has zero political instincts and is actively hurting his administration every time he opens his mouth. He should go back to tanking his companies and pretending to play video games.

The President can create a department that is allowed to operate for 18 months prior to needing Congress to make it permanent. So yes, it does.

I don't think he was talking about that. I think he was talking about Elon operating unencumbered by any method of checks and balances and firing people/getting information across several depts that don't fall under him.

it’s a Presidential appointment. They’ve been 100% transparent with what they’re finding and cutting. Line by line detailed.

The money launderers and criminals who have been stealing money under false programs like Outer Mongolian Transgender Dolphin Studies are mad that they’re being caught and their stolen income is being taken away so they’re flooding the media they own with propaganda designed to brainwash simple minded people to believe lies.

I'm really surprised you actually believe that. And no, they haven't been transparent. You just believe anything they say? Inspectors General are the ones who look for waste, fraud and abuse ... And Trump fired a bunch of them. Including those investigating Musk's businesses.

A billionaire doesn't get that rich without doing shady ish... So you want to believe whatever Elon and Trump say, go right ahead. I see the chaos with my own eyes. The hurt they're causing with my own eyes and ears.

Read the receipts and cope more.
the timeline doesn't quite add up. he started making these cuts before the site was functional. and additionally, probationary employees are just being laid off for no good reason.
also, the wall of receipts had a ton of errors. maybe these are now corrected, but i doubt that their numbers can be trusted.

Some contracts the group claims credit for were double- or triple-counted. Another initially contained an error that inflated the totals by billions of dollars. In at least one instance, the group claimed an entire contract had been canceled when only part of the work had been halted. In others, contracts the group said it had closed were actually ended under the Biden administration.

All that is is just saying things that may or may not be true. That's not transparency. But then again, most politicians do the exact same thing... Say things without hard evidence. There's no way to verify ANY of this stuff. Right now it's just "trust me bro".

Hard disagree. There was an election, and the Dems lost. Whose fault is it that they ran an unpopular DEI chosen VP who got rolled in the only primary she did? At least Trump won his primary fair and square.

Now hopefully at least everyone realizes why having so much power confined in the executive branch is a terrible idea. The founders knew this. Rolling back presidential power should be the ONLY thing that the dems run on in the midterm and they will clean house. If they continue to fuck around with DEI and packing the Supreme Court and other nonsense they will continue to get rolled.
