The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

"Continuum Shift runs on the Taito Type-X2 hardware, which is a combination of standard off-the-shelf PC parts and runs Windows XP. So somebody dumped the game and wrote a loader to run it on any qualifying PC. This is going to be very embarrassing."

Not terribly embarrassing, it's not the first time it's happened (someone dumping a game from arcade hardware that runs XP Embedded and writing a loader for it).

Note to self: Never get air thrown by Arakune. Is the video title supposed to say 98K? I don't get how Jin died otherwise. But at the same time, wtf that damage level doesn't seem possible. 9.8K? I thought jin had 10K.
Jin has 11.5k hp unless they changed it in CS. Watch the video again. Arakune does a 7 hit combo for 1.9k damage. Then he does a ridiculous 115 combo with Distortion Finish at 9.8k

This begs the question why there was no official PC version. Sounds like the game would be incredibly easy and relatively cheap to port. There's not a flood of 2D fighter support on the PC so they might gain some interest from PC-centric gamers who are willing to try something different from the usual types of games that get PC releases. Yeah, it might not be a blockbuster but I'm sure it could at least be profitable for them.

As with all Taito Type X2 games.

I don't think it'll get an official PC release. The expansion may not even be released in the US at all. There hasn't been any announcements whatsoever. Yet the hack has English options available which were apparently present in the arcade version and done by Aksys.

Piracy is never a good thing, but I hope this will light a fire under Aksys and get them going on the localization of CS for Xbox 360 and PS3. At least those who are competitive players and live far away from arcades have a way to practice now, but still. Legit version. Soon. Please.

I've been bitching for a VF5 PC port for awhile now. The specs of the arcade board that it's running on are the same as an enthusiast PC gamer's rig from *2004*.

As far as I know, SFIV was never leaked, but yes, in theory someone could do that.

It was stated above that the Type X2 is basically a PC - PC innards, Windows OS. The games come on hard drives and come packaged with a "security dongle" that you cannot play each game without.

So what's the current info on the European release? Tried looking around and only piece of info I found that a French version has a publisher. Wikipedia lists a "Europe version" to be released at March 5th, but eh?

Got delayed from February 1st back to sometime in March, not exactly sure when. Probably depends on your region.

Aussie retailers are saying March 18th

The game sold too well compared to expectations for it not to get a console port.

Worst case though, someone will add netplay to that port, or make it work smoother. BB's netcode is good enough that people won't consider the console port inferior.

That doesn't mean what you think it does . . .

While descriptivists and other such laissez-faire linguists are content to allow the misconception to fall into the vernacular, it cannot be denied that logic and philosophy stand to lose an important conceptual label should the meaning of BTQ become diluted to the point that we must constantly distinguish between the traditional usage and the erroneous "modern" usage. This is why we fight.

Nobody cares about the traditional usage. Times change.

Wasn't a PC version of Calamity Trigger in the works and they were trying to get GFWL cross platform support with the 360 version? At least that's what I remembered hearing...

what are the blazblue online communities like now? I sold my original copy but i've really been in the mood to play that again, even before this arcade rip. I think it was 40 used at gamestop (even though the website said 35). I remember blazblue's xbl online being pretty great, but are there enough people playing? Is ps3 any better or worse?

I think people still play this. A friend of mine has no problem finding ranked matches on PS3. GAF has a higher constituency on PS3, and from the first month of NPD numbers and Famitsu's first week sales, the PS3 version has sold more.

There is still a community alive on the PS3. You'll pretty much get a match going around the clock. I'd expect it to be the same on 360.

One usage is used in books and the other is used on Internet forums. I guess I should trust the Internet, sorry!
We do care passionately about the proper use of the phrase with reference to logical fallacy, but it would be false to say that tongues are not in cheeks in this endeavor.
:D

Also, the engine of BB can render the whole thing in real 1080p if you let it. Looks much sharper, looking forward to PC CT.

Does anyone have an alternative link or have downloaded the 'piracy' video by Aksys? They've set the video to private now and I really want to see it.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger for PS3 is only $32.98 at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IAU14A/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Also, you can get on a free Amazon Prime trial even if you've been on a trial before, instructions here: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1777176
Just remember to turn off automatic renewal asap so you never have to worry about getting charged for it.

I'm wondering if I should get this game. I've only played this once and I had no idea what I was doing. I have a Hori Fighting Stick 3 and the only game I ever used it with is SF4. I'm kinda hesitant because I hear BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is already in arcades and is announced for consoles. Somebody convince me to buy this game... :lol

I didn't know it was announced for consoles... I think everyone just knows it's coming... lol.

Anyway, if you have an arcade near you, I don't see the point of getting calamity trigger. It IS outdated after all. I'm guessing that continuum shift is going to be out around August or September to consoles, so if you want to be waiting a little bit longer, it'll MOST LIKELY be out by then (then again, no release date yet).

If you want to learn the system before continuum shift comes out, I'd say go for it. Keep in mind that many of the chars had a huge overhaul (ex: Arakune), so if you want to get the idea of the game, get it. Otherwise, hold out until Continuum Shift. If you want to get it and play though, add me on PSN (Prototype-03).

Well your gonna see the Blazblue scene pickup again on consoles. Over on SRK they announced that they will officially be adding Blazblue to Evo2k10

Blazblue Calamity Trigger at Evo2k10
http://shoryuken.com/content.php?r=...ve-Evo-2010-Game-Lineup-Special-Now-Available

It wont be a side Tournament this time. I'm fairly certain all the BB players will go back online to play Calamity Trigger. If Continuum Shift comes out on consoles before Evo, it will probably end up replacing Calamity Trigger. In either case it will be cool to see such high level competition in one room.

The funny thing is last year it was just a side tournament and there were 200+ entraints!

I would murder for a VF5 PC port and also had no idea about that. Sega just seem to only port to the PC if its some type of racing game, Sonic riders, Outrun and Sega Rally.

Virtua Fighter 2 they did to spite us for future VF games.

I like Hazama and Tsubaki more than any of the old cast. Definitely picking up the home port day one.
I hope it's another simultaneous release so I don't have to import.

We've already established he's essentially Ichimaru Gin of Bleach infamy yes? Granted with a green hair dye job, oh and the use of short knives is rather interesting as well.

Both correct. Mori said it was impossible to put cross platform play in the PS3 version, unfortunately.

I had this game for a couple weeks, I hopped online a couple times. Lost every match, I haven't practiced but man I suck. :lol Someone was just messing with me last night and let me win Round 2 for some reason too.

Considering getting rid of the game before it's worth nothing but I really like the sprites and want to get into it, so when Spring Break rolls I'll give it a shot.

Oh, now that's interesting. Now I'm getting excited ahead of time thinking about what kind of LE of Continuum Shift will have for us.

So what happened to the artwork contest design? It's being completely omitted from the CE?
If I'm not mistaken, that LE cover was one of the nice minimalist entries.

I still can't believe what happened with the actual boxart though... I wonder what radiantdreamer actually thinks about what went down.
