What the hell is with the solid gold Bang? :lol

I am also doing really bad right now, Noel is the only character I know how to play at all pretty much.

Im always doing really bad :lol

I played the game for the first time tonight. I was a little beside myself. It seems a bit complicated.

I guess I'll have to watch some of the vids and go to dustloop.com for more info.

I also didn't like the character designs. They seem generic for a Japanese developer (if they are one).

Any tips on doing Tager's 360 piledriver more consistently? I can occasionally pull it off in the heat of battle but am just not consistent with it.

Also, when do you do it? What's the easiest way to set it up?

I don't know any combos for Arakune except forward C + forward C + down C. I can't find any on the net, either.

Some easy practical combos:

Without curse:

B>D

crouching Ax3>standing B

crouching Ax3>crouching C

C>air combo

B+C>QCFx2+C>jump A into throw (techable)
B+C>QCFx2+C>jump Ax2>jump QCF+C (techable)
^mixups. There's guaranteed combos, but these are easier.

easy air combo: jump A>QCF+C>rapid cancel>jump A>QCF+C

Curse combos:

B>C>air combo

crouching Ax3>C>air combo

Apart from that, watch some videos to see how they use D attacks. A lot of combos or blocked strings can be followed up with several D attacks which can keep them away. I can tell you some of my blocked strings and D setups if you want.

I don't know why, but I am terrible against Taokaka.

Arakune almost evened the odds! But I don't really know what the hell was happening, except for the grab distortion. :p

The 360 is much stricter than in other fighting games. It's nowhere near as loose as Gief's in SF4, but it's not as lenient as Hugo's in 3rd Strike... I guess it's around the same difficulty as the SF2 SPD that Gief had.

For me I tend to go 4123698A/B if I'm on the 1P side and 6321478A/B if I'm on the 2P side. I do this because I tend to do the 360 after a Sledge or a backdash, so it's easiest for me to pull off.

What you need to do to make your success rate go up is to magnetize the opponent first. Do it with any move, but magnetize them. I like doing 2D then 360 personally, because it magnetizes them and it also pushes them out just a smidge so that you can do 360A, which has good invincibility on startup... that way whatever attack they throw out will whiff and you'll suck them in.

A fun thing to do once you learn your ranges is to completely whiff a 2D into a 360A! I've done that a couple of times and it's hilarious because everyone will see the 2D and automatically stop to block it, and then eat the 360 if they try to retaliate.:lol

Thanks for this. Have you checked out the Blu-ray with strategies (or has anyone)? How useful is that for videos or should I just stick with Youtube?

Never thought of using the torpedo to launch into 360. One I did try a few times tho is his fireball that pulls them in to you but it seems there's barely any time to do it. Is there any other really simple but damaging combo you use with the fireball? because i hit with that thing pretty often due to how fast it fires

You suck? you destroyed all of gaf with your Litchi. You would be like probably 75-80% win rate or something insane like that

After a fireball you can do a generic combo like C, 623C. This is great because they can't really tech hit, and even if they do try to, the magnetism from the fireball will suck them in anyway.

Another cute trick that I have done is do B, C, D, with the D connecting and sending them to the other side of the screen. Before they recover I immediately do 623C and hold C for about a quarter of a second for the magnetism to kick in... if they tech hit the D, they get sucked back into Tager, and you can get a 360A if they aren't expecting it and try to mash hit out of it.:lol :lol

I haven't got the DVD, but I've seen clips of it, and it's definitely good but all the info is on dustloop and youtube. Not arranged quite as well as the DVD (yet), but you don't really need to see it imo.

OMIGOD OMIGOD OMIGOD!!!!!!

I won my first ranked match!

I also learned that since quick match was wonky for me just then, that when using custom match to browse rooms it's still actively looking for quick matches. So fucking awesome.

Yeah he's probably the most enjoyable grappler in a 2D game, but your fundamentals need to be spot on if you want to win. Which explains my 46% win rate :p Tager's got the best tech traps in the game but you really need to read your opponent well and have a lot of patience. :X

I'll probably take some crappy cam footage of my Tager and post it online soon enough.

Anyone here play Hakumen and have the main combos down?

I'm thinking about just going through these videos:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXo9vzFQIms
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt2_ZnuEvAg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Qy_uW2lpfA

and writing down the combos as I see them. I see about 3-5 consistently being used. Would save me time if one of you know which combos are used in these videos and would list them for me :p

I'm doing pretty well right now, beating level 30's on ranked, but I still haven't mastered any combos lol. I just spam C, with the occasional 214B~41236D.

Your pink Tager was absolute destruction, I must say. Also, Jeo was straight death with Taokaka.

Also, random select FTW

I'm afraid of random select, that leaves me with 1/12 chance of being Carl. =(

Ugh, does anyone have art 5 from Jin's story, and if so, could they describe to me what it is? It's the only thing I'm missing from the gallery, I'm following the dustloop guide but am not having any luck.

Ruin him in SFIV so hard that he'll beg for something more friendly. Then tell him about BB.

o_O People like that make me feel useless at work. Example, dude browsing PS3 section, says he's not really picky and will pretty much play anything, enjoys shooters, think he liked RPG's too. He hadn't played Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank OR Folkore. I recommend all three among a shit ton of other games he hasn't ever played. Jerk walks out with MLB 07.

Or people that somehow think 2D fighting games are cheap low budget garbage. How can any rational person see something like this in motion and think it's hideous? Gah... goddam people forgot what color is >_>

Well content-wise fighting games are really light. Sure you can keep replaying the same thing over and over and get better. I really think based on that alone a $60 price tag is just out of line for most of them.

Yeah but how often do you see a single genre of games release for relatively lower than the $60 price tag for 360s and PS3s.
