The Dustborn intro is laughably horrible.

There are tons of movies about shitty bands and usually filmmakers show their first attempt at creating music in a funny way. I don't know what this is but holy shit it was too excruciating to be funny.

Also, every other game has some sort of political idea or stance in it so I don't know what they are talking about.

Game Director Ragnar Tørnquist promoting his game by talking about the importance of Diversity on BBC News

It's a shame that a guy with a cool name like Ragnar Tornquist made a dumb game like this. Dude, your ancestors were Vikings... :messenger_unamused:

Wtf man... from TLJ and Dreamfall to... this?? How depressing.

Oh, man, I thought that name sounded familiar. I loved Dreamfall: TLJ (the next one was kind of crap, though). Damn, you're right, that is depressing...

Yes, this abomination was actually funded by Norwegian Film Institute and Co-Funded by the Creative Europe Media Programme of the European Union, so in a sense it is sponsored by politicians.

That makes more sense, then. I was wondering why a developer would think a game like this would be a good bet. They're getting subsidized/sponsored, that's why. They don't have to worry much about whether it succeeds in the marketplace. They've already received their check - from the political groups who believe in DEI and are using taxpayers' money to fund a DEI game.

Well, at least they're getting the feedback that it flopped.

The thing that puzzles me is the thought that anyone, anywhere, is actually going to give a shit about the political leanings of a game past its launch period.

Games, even good ones, just don't have that sort of cultural reach. Hell, most movies and TV aren't venerated over the long haul for their politics, because rather obviously politics tend to change with the times and what was once very much on-point (in its dayt) end up mostly quaint or dated by reflecting the contemporary values of a long past time.

Which basically leads me to the conclusion that the more political a thing is, then the more likely it is to be forgotten or just a curio in the long-term. It actively hurts in posterity.

And of course, when something comes storming out, trumpeting its "values" in these polarized times, then literally half the audience will reject it on its face!

Leads me to the conclusion that these faddishly political titles will fail (economically) in the present, and worse will have no future to speak of.

Why the fuck anyone would waste their time making stuff like this is beyond me! And I can't help but think all involved will end up bitterly regretting pissing their opportunities away on futile attempts at activism.

No game is going to make "a difference" politcally! Its the dumbest aim imaginable to even try!

I would agree that I don't mind they putting out a game like this. I prefer it over they screwing up other existing beloved IPs. people are free to choose what they want to make and play, and having something like this around would be good for those who do want to play it. I won't be getting this or that dino human music game, but I'm happy for them to be out there. it also showcases how small the actual audience for those games are when these sorta subjects are not attached to a well known, well loved IP. it's a good proving point that you can't force people to care/like your political view.

Options are good problem is when You enforce those options on all the games at a level that if they don't have it they are "wrong". That is basically cancel culture we have these days.

Fine for that Target market to have games to "play". Just let the other groups of people enjoy games like Stellar Blade without cancel them.

I will bet $20 this will be with the Game of the Year category at The Game Awards. Every year they have a shitty indie queer game competing against all the big AAA games so nobody gets their feelings dont get hurt.

I remember when my mom rented me Bust a Move on PS1 and I ended up joining the Zapatistas in their uprising.

There's room in my heart to laugh at both of them. I'm just enjoying the obvious results of games intended for an imaginary "modern audience".

What really baffles me is, what were they thinking releasing in the same day as Black Myth Wukong?
Didint u know only kkk members and backwards chinese ppl play that abherrent wukong game? No1 else would dare, at least that was the sincere belief in the rainbow forum/woke bubble, despite wellknown data from steam wishlists/preorders and overall hype normal players like us could easly see xD

I guess it’s like this Zoomer thing where they are confused about their gender identity, don’t want kids, don’t want to date, don’t want to commit to a relationship, don’t want monogamy, think masculinity and assertiveness are toxic, are unable to communicate and express their desires/concerns to each other….. but they still wanna fuck. So they just have sex and sorta act like a couple sometimes, or not.
Why not call it friends with benefits like in the good ol' days?

The closest we will get to a new Guitar hero game.
Actually that's Fortnite Festival mode. And you can even play the new songs for free every week!

OT: So anyway, this is the first time I've heard of this, I think? That was trash. Peak cringe with those lyrics.

Quantic Dream published this gem? I want to know who put the money up to fund the studio. I need to see inside the mind of the person who decided to put millions of dollars into developing this.

Also, in the "song" in the OP, they say they are the "new porn"..... These people's minds are fucking sick. Just making fun of them might not be enough. We might needs screenings and incarceration. They think they're already being oppressed for their beliefs and identities, and I want to make that a reality.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
This crap didn't even manage to reach 100 concurrent players.
I bet this studio won't last much longer.

Boy, Wukong managed to get more concurrent players on day two and Dustborn is doing the exact same thing. The devs must be ecstatic! :messenger_grinning:

It seems they did a model rip of the GTA Oline living room. Check the wall speakers. Hopefully Take 2 won't stand for this. Looks 1:1 with new textures.

Watch the vid after reading the tweet.

as I said in one comment. if someone wants to do media/entertainment for certain demographic is totally fine (a game like this shouldn't be victim of the anti woke mob) it should just be ignored.

At the same time, it's resounding suscess implies that the market for this demographic is nowhere to be found a construct of their mind.

Eh, It's a small studio making a small game that didn't get much advertising.
With these things it's always a coin flip if it catches on or not, also factor in if the gameplay and music is just good or not.
Wouldn't make any asumptions about what the demographics are like based on it.

I was looking at the Steam page and these are the same Norwegian guys who made The Longest Journey? Wasn't that pretty good for it's time or was it always crazy? Was a long time since I played it. This seems awful obviously

You are partially right, they are the creators of the Longest Journey sequel, Dreamfall i think it was, very boring game in my opinion, i played the original a long time ago, it was a very good game for its time (1998 i think it was the first one) although the ending was dissapointing. Yes, it shows that there are political interests funding and being behind all of this, and still there are people who say that there is no agenda involved in the game industry.
