Saved the Gerudo Divine Beast til last, for some reason expecting it to be awesome. Erm, I was wrong, it's the only point in the game so far where I have stopped and thought 'I'm not really enjoying this'.

I'm surprised at the hate for the Gerudo beast, it was my favorite one. The combination of the music and the bigger scale of the beast was awesome to me.

I thought the Gerudo Beast was solid, and it's probably more 'challenging' than the other divine beasts even though it's still pretty simple to figure out. The lead up to it is fantastic though. I loved gathering the thunder helm from the Yiga clan. Honestly the only 'main quest' that felt a little short was the rising action toward the beast in the sky. Comparatively you do almost nothing to prep for that divine beast, which I found a little weak.

Exactly my experience here.

It's the only point of the game for so far for me that I couldn't wait to get past.

All was right with the world as soon as I'd done it but it was a bit of a slog.

Welp

I just double dipped, and got BotW for my Switch.

Man I'm looking forward to playing it again! That video capture is a cool new feature.

Zelda in a nutshell. Every mechanic, item, location, character, story sequence and game is somebody's worst and another person's best.

Well this is new, I don't think they've shown Kass's official art until now. Maybe he has a bigger role in the DLC than we thought?

well the DLC name is Champion's Ballad

Personally I doubt Kass' is going to have a *huge* role in the DLC, I imagine they made that art a long time ago and didn't release it since his role in the main game isn't that big

I'd love to be wrong though

Had Zelda and my Switch since Monday afternoon and I am loving the game so far. I've just reached the stables on my way to Kakariko (sp?) Village. Really enjoying the mix of exploration (Korok hunting!), Shrine puzzles, combat etc. The only slight let down so far is that storytelling/interaction with other NPC's has been extremely limited so far. It feels like a very solitary experience? This is my first Zelda game so this may well be ordinary for the series but it's a big change from say, Witcher 3 where you are immediately thrust into the first town with loads of NPC's/chatter etc. I've been playing for almost 5 hours now and just reached the first NPC's to chat to outside of the old dude at the start!

Nah, you generally have a village and npcs at the start of 3d zelda games, this one is different, they wanted you to start playing outside asap so they put you in the plateau by yourself and with no civilization near you.

Yeah, I've been playing for three weeks now and the game has enough towns and small settlements relative to the size of it's world with lots of NPCs. And what's more, since a direct comparison to Witcher 3 has been brought up...every NPC you meet is unique and has his own dialogue, which often changes depending on the context, whether it's day or night, whether they're at work or just chilling out, whether it rains or not. Compared to Witcher 3, which is full of NPCs, but most of them act like GTA civilians and have absolutely nothing to say or do with.

I've played nearly 200 hours of Zelda this year so I'm pretty done with it at this point, but I still went back to it yesterday for the first time since completing the Master Trials. Finally got that Korok mask, woo!

And...it's still astounds me how incredible this game is. Without question my game of the year, maybe game of the last decade.

I cannot freaking wait for DLC2 to come out.

Started Breath of the Wild and holy shit this game is majestic as fuck.

I've got 5 hearts and 1.5 stamina bars and around 24 damage weapons and reasonable armor. I have made it to the Zora domain.

Should I do side quests and more exploration than start one of the divine beasts now? Some of the monsters kill me in 1 or 2 hits depending on the area I venture in.

I really love the shrines too. Some are crazily interesting.

Give me some useful tips and that for a beginner please <3

I'm a new player as well, did the Zora Devine Beast when I was around the same stats as you, it wasn't difficult at all or felt like I was too underpowered. Generally it feels like most of the world is designed to be accessible early on if you choose to go there with only a few rough patches inbetween. And you can always try and sneak by these parts.
Or boost yourself up with food and elixiers, you can easily cook stuff that'll boost your attack or defense to compensate for a lack of hearts or powerful weapons.

So far the sidequests I've done have mostly given out garbage rewards, like, here are 50 rupees, or here are 10 arrows for your troubles, which weirdly enough I kind of enjoy, because too often games with sidequests are kind of balanced around having to do quite a few of them as to not be underpowered, whereas here it's really just, do them because you want to and see where it takes you or don't. Just have fun!

Um, I know I haven't really posted much (if at all?) in here before, but if there was some sort of ZeldaGAF discord I'd love to join it.
I'm new to LoZ and have been working my way through the other games after playing BotW and would like a way to stay connected to the community outside of this site considering how shaky things are here now. D:
