17 more than the DS, the full list is

ConsoleNumber Of First-Party Million-Sellers
Nintendo Switch72
Nintendo DS55
Nintendo 3DS50
PlayStation49
Nintendo Game Boy46
Nintendo Entertainment System42
Nintendo Wii40
Nintendo 6437
PlayStation 230
Nintendo GameCube26
Nintendo Game Boy Advance25
Xbox 36023
Super NES21
PlayStation 321
Nintendo Wii U20
PlayStation 419
PlayStation Portable8
Xbox One7
PlayStation 55
Xbox5

Pokémon Legends Z-A will join them and so hopefully will Metroid Prime 4.

EDIT - The PS5 number seems to be too low, it's missing some games we know about and cross gen games like GOW:R. Not sure exactly how many but it should be above it's current position and possibly behind the PS4.

Nintendo is consistently the excellence of execution and Switch was a monster so no surprise there.

My love for the 3DS library solidified.

Interestingly enough, that list proves that PS5 is in fact the worst PlayStation console in terms of software, which matches the consensus on GAF.

In the last 3 quarters only 19 games (most of them released before) sold over 1M copies in Switch, 12 of them being 1st party and 7 of them were 3rd party.

Yes, their 1st party games sell very well. But they should take a look at the 3rd party sales because it is worrying compared to PS or Steam.

I'm more impressed that X360 had more million+ sellers than PS4.
It didn't, many numbers from there must be fake / Nintendo fanboy guesses.

As far as I remember Sony always sold better than MS, had more teams and MS never shared any list of million seller games, and as far as I know they never had any leaked complete list. Regarding Sony we saw leaked numbers that didn't cover anything, like PS1 or PS2.

And well, did Nintendo release 72 first party games for Switch?

Sony doesn't reveal sales numbers as much as Nintendo does, shit obviously doesn't have just 5 first-party games.
A fan favorite like Returnal isn't even included there, even if it's very likely to be at over 1M on PS5 by now.
Edit: mind explaining what is wrong with what I said, lol? Kacho Kacho

My point is the PS5 number is miniscule compared to the rest of the PlayStation consoles.
Because that's all that managed to be reported. Stuff like God of War Ragnarok numbers don't even have platform splits, while others like Gran Turismo 7 we don't even know any sales units data, LET ALONE the PS4/PS5 splits, hence both of them not being included in that number.

How many of those are remakes, remasters, or just a new port of a game?
The breakdown is:

New games - 50
Ports/remasters - 15
Remakes - 7

So Switch will probably end top on new games alone.

In the last 3 quarters only 19 games (most of them released before) sold over 1M copies in Switch, 12 of them being 1st party and 7 of them were 3rd party.

They had more than 72 releases but not all of them sold 1 million.

The trick to increasing the number of third party million sellers is to have more third party games release on their platform.

Looks correct going by that list? 5 of those were published by Sony.
The list is shit. Missing lots of games that have sold over 1M (S-M:R, TLoU and so on).
Why are Elden Ring, EA Sports FC 24, and Final Fantasy 16 on that list?
It's just some shit list, its supposed to be listing any games that have sold more than 1M, it's clearly bullshit though.
5 First party games is what the list says.
Yes and there's more than 5 first party games that have sold more than 1M.

How many games do you think need to be added? I can edit the OP with a disclaimer saying it's based on outdated information and the PS5 actually is likely to have X amount rather than 5.
Not sure, but it's more than 5. There's native versions of TLoU, Spider-Man and others.
The wiki page doesn't even have CoD or anything listed (is it because there's no official source?).

Sony published more than 5 PS5 games that sold over 1M copies in 2024 alone. So obviously sold more way more during the all the generation. The list is a joke.
Yeah I just misinterpreted the post as saying all of the games in that list should be considered/included, when only 5 are published by Sony.

It’s definitely not a good source.
